Kimmy in MD Posted September 10, 2008 Report Posted September 10, 2008 I know I have seen posts about feeling your port under your skin, but can anyone else feel their band? Not feel it like it is clenching your stomach but last night my I rested my arm/hand on my mid-section and I felt the band. Let me tell you it freaked me right out because I am a complete chicken about stuff like that; I can't even put peirced earrings into other peoples ears because it grosses me out! But I really could feel it, plastic and all. WEIRD!!
Sandy Posted September 10, 2008 Report Posted September 10, 2008 that is a little freaky. but hey it means you are getting skinny!
MamaMichelle Posted September 10, 2008 Report Posted September 10, 2008 I have never heard of that, lol but I'm not that skinny yet!! One day!
Kittycat Posted September 11, 2008 Report Posted September 11, 2008 Wow, are you sure? I have never heard of that! You have a thick layer of skin, fatty tissue and stomach muscles between your hand and the band around your stomach. If that is what you felt, that's freaky!!
denisem Posted September 11, 2008 Report Posted September 11, 2008 I can feel my port, even since surgery day, but not the band. I didn't think it was possible to feel it through your stomach. That is very freaky! Denise
thesuse Posted September 11, 2008 Report Posted September 11, 2008 I'm thinking you probably felt a rib or muscle or something else that you probably haven't felt in a while. The top of the stomach where the band is lies behind the liver - and all that is behind the diaphragm and mostly behind the ribs. Here are a couple diagrams I found that illustrate this part of the anatomy nicely: http://media-2.web.britannica.com/eb-media...04-32A59CEC.jpg http://www.upmccancercenters.com/pdq_xml/m...R0000428446.jpg
nicolek Posted September 11, 2008 Report Posted September 11, 2008 Hiya i think you may have made the same mistake I did and rediscovered your sternum. I was freaked for about a week until i realized.
