  1. The Number I called was listed under Dr Drake Bellanger. But I don't think thats the actual Dr there now. I think its someone new. But the Physicians asst did my fill. Her name is Holly. It was $350 and you can go back anytime within 2 weeks of the fill and have it adjusted if you need to. Here's the #1-225-819-4205. I didn't have to do any paper work. She only sees pts on Wed afternoons I think. Goodluck!

    Tracey,

Thank you so very much. I've also found a doc in Little Rock - Dr. Rex Luttrell. At least we have options!!!!! Thank you so very much!!

  2. Tracey,

Can you give me the name of the doctor that you used in Baton Rouge for your fill? We live in North Louisiana and are having a really hard time finding someone to do a fill for the surgery that was performed in Mexico. The closest I've found so far is in Georgia, but I'd much rather drive to Baton Rouge!!

    Thanks!

  3. I am scheduled for surgery 7/12 and have some other questions. How much money do you bring? Do you take a credit card or cash? What about tipping? How about paying for food for the one going with you or for yourself after surgery at the hotel?

I carried a few hundred dollars of cash and my credit card when my daughter had her surgery. I came home with most of my cash. When you get to the hotel, open a "voucher" with the front desk using your credit card. This will allow you to "charge" your husbands meals at the restaurants, room service, etc. On the day you depart, go to the front desk and they will have your total ready. You sign your CC receipt and be on your way. It takes a LOT of hassle out of the trip. I loved this convenience. Just order what you want and sign the ticket with your name and room number.

Know one thing about American Express if you plan to use it. You MUST let them know you are going out of the country and what dates you'll be gone or they'll decline your card. Found out this the hard way, but one single phone call took care of that problem.

By the way, my cell phone still thought I was in the states, so I used it constantly since I have national coverage.

Also, on tipping. I found that they add a 10% tip to your total meal. I just added a little more to it to meet the customary 15% tip.

American cash is accepted just about anywhere you go in TJ- except the vending machines. You can go to the front desk and ask for pesos for your dollars and use the vending machines. Cokes are roughly 50 cents out of the machine. Granted, bandsters cant drink the cokes, but your husband may want one. Also, you can get them at the restaurant in cans.

    Hope this helps!

  4. Good Luck! You took the words right out of my mouth! I just got denied from my insurance company, and am debating the whole thing too. My family thinks I'm nuts! I'm not telling anyone else---it's none of their business. I would like someone to go with me, but the costs would be probably be prohibitive, plus since no one wants me to do it, looks like I'll go alone. I'm from Kentucky, so I'll have to fly in. Keep us posted!!!

    Halobabe,

I took my daughter to TJ for this surgery. The only extra cost for our trip was my plane ticket and my personal meals while there. So it really wasn't that much more. I stayed in the hotel room which is already covered in the cost of the surgery. Being there as a woman alone in Mexico, I didn't stray very far from the hotel, but that was perfectly fine as there are two restaurants on the premises. Your friend would also have the choice of room service if desired.

Also, the bell captains are EXTREMELY helpful at the hotel. Anything you need, they are more than happy and very willing to accomodate your needs.

After Lindsay's surgery, I needed ice to chill her drinks. I could not find the ice machine, so I asked one of the bell captains of the location. Not only did he go get my ice for me, he brought enough to ice down several drinks for her. There are no refrigerators in the room, so I used the sink as a cooler. Seems they are used to this because he knew exactly how much I needed.

So, if you have a friend that wants to go, let them go with you. Your friend would be allowed to stay with you all the time except the night after your surgery. That night, they would be driven back to the hotel to stay in the room. The clinic will deliver you to the hotel the next morning.

On a dollar basis, I probably spent about $75 on meals while I was there. The plane ticket price, of course, varies depending on your flight.

So if you or your friend can afford the flight, let them go with you!!
