  1. Not to sound like an alcoholic or anything, but I want to know if there a glass of wine is ok. I drink wine occassionally. I was banded on 4/22, and feel absolutley great. I was wondering if anyone knows if it is ok to have a alcohol, post op. I'm going out with my husband and wanted to be sure.

I was told it was ok after I think she said 3 months with the exception of carbonated drinks, champagne and beer. She said your ability to consume will be greatly reduced. I have had several cocktails. Good luck.

  2. Ok so 3 days after my fill (the first day I was able to eat real food) I had a steak dinner with salad and a dinner roll it wasn't near the amount I used to eat but I didn't really feel any restriction. I was bummed and I posted about it but I figured oh well I'll just go back for another fill in a few weeks!!

Fast forward to today (6 days since my fill) I had my shake for breakfast and then for lunch I was at my son's school for a field trip and they were serving chicken for lunch so I stuck around to eat with him. I ate about 4 bites and then started to feel sick so I said goodbye and spent the next 10 min sliming/spitting into a cup as I drove home... ick!

I ended up having a protein shake a few hours later and felt fine... Then for dinner I made myself a Lean Cuisine- the Fettuccine and Broccoli Alfredo kind and since there was no protein (I thought it had chicken when I bought it) I ate the broccoli first per Dr. M's orders and after 6-8 small pieces of broccoli (they were covered in Alfredo sauce but I never even got to the noodles) again I was super full and started to slime, this time for only 1-2 min.

How is it possible that I ate steak, salad and bread with no issues and then 3 days later I can hardly eat anything... I have heard of people's fills getting tighter over time and I guess it's a good thing but it's just soooo weird!!

    Hi Michelle,

The first posting did not save or send for some reason. I had my fill last Saturday. Here I am a week later and I have less restriction than before my fill. I spoke with Dr. Romero yesterday. He is to call me back Monday. Hopefully, my fill will kick in soon.

    Hi Michelle,

I had my first fill a week ago today. I have no restriction. Less than what I had before the fill. I have been calling and emailing Dr. Romero all week and finally spoke with him yesterday. He said that some people have gone as long as two weeks before feeling any restriction. Maybe that is what you experienced. I hope something starts soon. I am disatisfied at this point. He is suppose to call me back Monday. I will keep you posted.

  4. It's a self-help type show that premiered tonight on TLC with British author Paul McKenna, It was pretty interesting and found he had some helpful tips that could be used even with the band! Anyone else see it?

Hi Michelle, I did not see it, but I just set my DVR to record it Friday. How has it been going. Have you scheduled your fill appointment yet? One of my fears is gaining some of the 15 pounds back that I have lost. I know the band is not working yet, so I am really trying to be good.

  5. Hi

I'm new sceduled for surgery March 21st, has anyone gone alone and would anyone recomend it?

I went alone because I planned my surgery so quickly making it difficult for someone to accompany me. I was scared, but I had no problems at all. It is probably not the optmum situation, but you should be ok. Good luck.

  6. Angela,

I am so happy to see a woman of color with the band! I have not ran into any woman of my ethic backgroung that I can talk to. Here is my email; lawdiva2006@yahoo.com. Please contact me! I just got banded 2/21/08 and have alot of questions, I know you and give input on! Girl, you did! =D> I'm excited for your new look.....how wonderful!

    God Bless you ><'

    Hi Angela,

I had my surgery on 2/29/08 and am doing great. I was wondering if there were any other women of color. How are you progressing? How much have you lost?

  7. Can anyone here who has had the band tell me if your stomach area is very swollen afterwards? I'm asking because I want to buy a denim dress for the plane ride home (so that it won't have a waist band pinching me) and I am wondering if I need to buy a larger size due to swelling. Can anyone tell me what you think?

I had my surgery 2/29/08 and my stomach did swell but I don't believe it swole enough to warrant a larger size. Good luck.
