  1. Being 100% disabled, I got this wonderful oppourtunity to experience the lap band in March of 2004 in Mexico with Dr Rumbart. After hurricane Katrina, and loosing everything except a left shoe and is currently living in a FEMA trailor. I have experienced weight gain and is looking for a facility who charge about $300.00 in adjustment instead of $600.00 and above. I am also looking for a flight from Gulfport Mississippi to Monterray Mexico because they will do it for free and I can not find flights that are reasonable. Can someone suggest something or give me advice

    Thanks

I always recommend Mobissimo to people looking for lower airfares. I tried it out with random dates and this was the result. http://www.mobissimo.com/results_airfare.p...9e193780a500003

You may also want to also try these consolidators: www.travelation.com and www.mercurytrip.com

  2. I had my first fill on October 4, (1.8 cc) and as of today, October 16, I still really can not eat solid foods well. From the first bite, they get stuck and I end up getting a ton of spit in my mouth (sorry, gross) and then I may pb. I have pb-ed twice and it is hell, but it also helps to relieve the awful pain. I am pretty much living on protein shakes and yogurt right now, with an occaisional attempt at something else, like a bite of it. Since my fill 12 days ago, I have lost almost 5 pounds.

So far, I know I can not eat the following:

    1) bread, pizza crust etc.

    2) turkey sausage

    3) Wendy's chili

    4) String cheese

I have had luck with these, but I generally don't eat them:

    1) Tortilla chips

    2) Wendy's frosty

For some reason, the chips don't get stuck at all. I think it might be due to their greasy nature.

I will call Dr. Martinez and see what he recommends. Good luck everyone!

  3. I just got back from my first fill trip and I wanted to thank the people who posted helpful information about transportation. It was really easy, I took the 992 bus from the airport to the trolley station (American-something) and then took the trolley all the way to San Ysidro. I got really lucky and ran into a woman (Pammy from this board) who was also headed to Tijuana for a fill with Dr. Ortiz! We took the trolley and then a cab and it was a cinch. I took the trolley back to San Diego that afternoon and then spent the night at a motel in Hotel Circle. I really didn't feel like carrying my bag the 20 minutes from the motel to the trolley station, especially since it now contained a large bottle of mexican booze, so I called a shuttle service. I got their card from the lobby in the motel, and for $18 he took me from hotel circle (the Super 8 - classy, I know) to the airport. I thought that was a GREAT deal. If you want the name, let me know.

My fill was a good, but briefly painful experience. I am still glad I did it and look forward to hitting my goal weight a.s.a.p.

  4. Hi all,

I am going to be getting my first fill on October 4th. I didn't plan ahead, so I wil lbe taking the trolley and all of that. Can anyone advise me on the safety of the taxis? I have heard it is $5-10$ from the border to Zona Rio/Dr. Ortiz's office. Is that right?

I am excited and nervous!! I have lost about 12 pounds since the surgery on July 29, but that is mostly due to bad eating habits. I hope with a fill, I won't be so hungry.

  5. I am joining a little late here, but please remember that everyone has not just the right, but really the responsibility to thoroughly research their medical providers.

I think that rather than treating Littleroo's questions as attacks, take them in the context she presented them in. Some of the responses I have seen look like someone personally insulted your mother. Relax! If you think Dr. Ortiz is great, great. I have found my experience with him and his staff to be good.

    No need to be defensive.
