Any teens or parents of teens have questions?
jetdeck replied to Cassie's topic in For Teens & Over Bypass
Cassie, Great answer about drinking you truly are a fantastic role model! SJ -
MamaMichelle, I hate to contradict you as you are an incredible asset to this forum but Dr Ortiz's guidelines says in bold letters "NO MUSHY FOODS ALLOWED" Anyway...I'm banking on chewing something in 7 days or it will be my arm! SJ

FILLS AT OCC VS. FILL CENTERS
jetdeck replied to God4me's topic in Gastric Band Support & Discussion
I 100% agree about floro. -
So today is post op day 13 and I feel great, probably the first day where I have had no residual pain (mainly port site), basically pain in general has been minimal. My port site has always felt like a big rock under my skin but today the swelling has really gone down. Also today is the first day that I haven't felt bloated. The biggest mistake I have made so far is when I advanced to full liquids and got wayyyyyyy to many grams of sugar from slimfast and yogurt drinks. I stopped yogurt drinks and switched to EAS with 0 grams of sugar and lots of protein and all the gurgling in my gut stopped. Post op day 11 I was literally so hungry I cried, my stomach was growling and I had this overwhelming need for texture and the desire to chew and was completely grossed out about liquids. I found that making shakes in the blender using EAS whey protein with a cup of slim milk and a few ice cubes makes a frothy shake that is very filling and extinguishes that starving feeling. Also Special K protein powder mix really helps kill hunger pains. SJ

Mark Who is your band doctor? -
Thanks MamaMichelle, Great link!

When I was there 3/3 there were a lot of riots, not quite sure what part of town as I didn't see any, but on my last night police/ambulance sirens went off non-stop all night long. I went down to Rev Ave alone and didn't feel comfortable and came right back, maybe I'm just a baby or wasn't really feeling that great. I would travel alone again as long as i am escorted by OCC. SJ

banded 3/3 and feeling like crap!
jetdeck replied to jetdeck's topic in Gastric Band Support & Discussion
for some reason i feel 100% better when i woke up today! today stopped yogurt drinks and apple juice, had EAS carb control protein drink (NO sugar compared to 13g in slimfast and taste way better!) and had no gurgling or gas, just had soup so i'll see how that goes, got in a good walk this morning and will again this afternoon going to work on bathroom issues, try some of Monet's glycerin suppos (fun, fun!) thanks again everybody, it is a huge trial and error process that i can see will easily take months to figure out SJ -

Thanks for all your post I think I need to get up and walk!!!! And I need a good bathroom break!!!! banded 3/3 and feeling like crap!
jetdeck replied to jetdeck's topic in Gastric Band Support & Discussion
Monet, Thanks for post but I am following the diet per guidelines discussed with Dr. Miranda. SJ -
Ok...so it has only been a week since i have been banded. I have horrific gas, very bloated and every time i eat (or should say drink!) i can hear it gurgle and moan and groan through my intestines for up to an hour, seems to be worse at night Here is what i have been drinking: slimfast yogurt drinks creamy soup - just started today apple juice water is this just part of the healing process or should i drink something different? is there anything i can do to expedite getting rid of being so bloated? gas-x strips help some with the gas but man it can reallllllllyyyyy be bad at times! My kids are totally bewildered as to why mom has the toots so much! i haven't been walking much because honestly i have felt like hell, would that help these crappy symptoms? i've only had one bm since surgery and then diarrhea two days ago, could that be a problem? hope this isn't TMI thanks - SJ

A Copy of Dr. Miranda's Post Op Guidelines
jetdeck replied to MamaMichelle's topic in Gastric Band Support & Discussion
Thanks Mama! -
This is one of the major reasons I told absolutely nobody except my primary doc, i'm separated so didn't have to worry about telling a SOP. I just have to figure out how to go out to dinner with friends or attend family functions when all i'll be able to to is eat 1/2 cup of food! :-?
-
geesh...i'm glad to know i'm not the only food freak! i have done some off the wall stuff when cravings hit, but 2.5 hours each way for chick-fil-a is wild! =D>

mamamichelle i think that would be a great idea sj

Philly fill docs (or NJ, MD, DE)
jetdeck replied to jetdeck's topic in Fill Doctors & Fill Trips to Tijuana
Everybody goes to the one in Mt Laurel NJ, do you not want to travel to NJ? -
I understand that all docs give different guidelines, but since this is OCC's forum I felt like I should point out that this isn't OCC's guidelines. It was a confusing post for me because I used this guideline to plan ahead and studied it extensively, then once I went to OCC and received the real guidelines it was a bit frustrating to change gears. When I met with Dr. Miranda and she said no mushy stage, I said "oh I thought there was" and all the other discrepancies made my meeting with her confusing. It wasn't a big deal, I just wanted to point this out to future banders. SJ
-
Not to be rude, but this is not the guidelines used by OCC.
-
oops sorry Jackie...I just realized you are the tall young girl there with your mom right??
-
Hi Jackie, So you made it home already! Did you eat at the restaurant last night? I ordered broth from room service and did not like it!! I know...broth is broth...it just skeeved me out for some reason. Just got back from Revolution Ave and am settling down with a nice glass of apple juice and spongebob in spanish. I'll be watching out for your posts on your progress. SJ
