  1. Danielle, all most everyone on this web site has been banded by Dr. Ortiz. He is one of the top if not the top lap band surgeons in the world. He teaches the american Dr's how to do it. He is american he just performs the surgery in TJ because he can do it for alot cheaper down there. You wont find one person that is unhappy with Dr. Ortiz, his staff, or his clinic. My experince was awesome! I am 27 and have been over weight my whole life too. I am 5'8" and my starting weight was 248. I had the surgery on 3/27/08 and have lost 22lbs so far. I wish I could have done it when I was your age. In the US the will not opperate on you untill you are 18, and the cost in the US is between $18,000-$25,000 and in TJ it is olny $8,000. Have your mom come on this site and ask questions for her self. My parents didn't want me to have the surgery in mexico either untill I made them do their own research on Dr. Ortiz. The people on this site are awesome and will answer any and all question you or your parents may have. DON'T WEIGHT ANY LONGER! YOU WILL LOVE THE LAP BAND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11 :D

  2. I havent lost any weight since one week after surgery and that was 3/27/08. I had my first fill on may 19 and still nothing! I am staying positive because I haven't gained any weight. Just had my 2nd/ 3rd fill on 6/19 so hopfully it will jump start my weight loss. Put the scale away!

  3. Well yesterday I went to the occ for my 2nd fill. My first fill of 1.5cc didn't do anything for me. Dr. Acosta gave me .7cc for a total of 2.2 in my 4cc band. I went to eat at a place around the corner and still didn't have any restriction. I ate a whole steak, beans, and 2 tortillas. So I went back to the occ for another fill and he gave me .8cc more for a total or 3cc. This morning I ate 5 bites of oat meal, than a little while later I ate a piece of cantaloupe. Everything seemed to go down fine but now it feels like I have a stomach? I don't know if my band is to tight or what? Please help! Is this what restriction feels like? I am scared to eat anything like steak or chicken, because I dont want it to get stuck.

  4. I had my surgery on 3/27/08 by Dr. Ortiz. He is one of the top if not the top lap band surgeon in the world. My experence there was awesome. I don't have any complantes at all and I would do it all over again in a heart beat. The occ is the cleanest facility that I have ever been to. And I have been to alot being I am a paramedic. All the people from the Dr's, nurses, hotel staff are extreamly nice. You will not be disapointed with your lapband experence from the OCC! If you wouled like to know any thing in more detail please email me brittmarco@yahoo.com

  5. I am in the same boat that you are, I had my first fill of 1.5cc and it doesn't even feel like I have a band. I haven't lost any weight since surgery. I thin the need to be more aggressive with the first fill. it cost way too much money for no results, and you have to do it all over again in less than a month. I am trying to find a fill Dr. closer to home. Keep the faith, just remember this time next year you will look fabulous!

  6. Experenced bandsters, what does it feel like when you are full? Does it feel like pre-banding fullness, or does it feel different? It's been 2 weeks since my first fill and I feel nothing. I still can eat everything and as much as I want. PLEASE HELP!!!!!!! I"M STUCK IN BANDSTER HELL!!!!!!!

  7. Well Dr. Romero told me that he only fill a max of 1.5cc before he even looked at the floro, the liquid went through fast with no slowing. I even asked to be very aggressive and he told me that was the rules. It makes me mad that I took a day off of work to drive 7 hours and pay money for a fill that I know isn't going to work. I'm just mad because I haven't lost weight in over 1 month and I was hoping my first fill would do it. On top of all that he told me that I couldn't come back for 4 weeks for my second fill! I just don't get it!

  8. I want to th occ yesterday for my first fill. My whole 7 weeks I haven't had any restriction at all, It dosn't even feel like I have a band at all. I have never PB or felt full. Dr. Romero said they NEVER give more than 1.5cc on the first fill? WHAT? Does he not know that everyone tells what they got? I dont get it. There was two other ladies that got a 1.5cc fill also, but they have had restriction since being banded. I just dont get it! Has any one else noticed this?

  9. I talked to Dr. Ortiz at 3 weeks out about getting a fill at 4 weeks and he said NO WAY! I felt like I was ready with no restriction what so ever, eating like I did before surgery! He told me that getting a fill too early can cause a slip. He told me no earlier than 6 weeks! So here I am waiting for my 6 weeks to be over!
