  1. Thanks Ladies!

I had the surgery 5/8/08 and fills in 7/08 and 01/09. I started out here like you girls scared and fearful, I knew I had to get on here and let you know there is hope. I felt very dicouraged when I didnt loose 120lbs the first 6 months... I wondered why the weight didnt melt off in "miracle" fasion. My male cousin had it done and I swear all of those things happed for him. I never lost hope just as the pounds slowly came off I got more energy and started to walk in the AM (for me this was HUGE). I also stopped feeling sorry for myself and quit eating the crappy foods, lets face it ice cream is evil! So many of us have the same questions asked over and over and no matter what our situations are as unique as we are, but none the less it is comforting knowing we arent the only ones going though this. Hang in there girls at the end of this "journey" we will be sexy on the outsides too!

  2. I thought Id give all who read a quick update! Thanks to all who helped me through the process, you answers and concern were very appreciated! I have now lost 113 lbs and cant believe it. I signed on today after over a year to give some hope to those who like I thought I had made a bit of an error. I am here to let you know a I am a different person thank to this proceedure. I have 30lbs or 40lbs to go still not sure on a weight for myself, but I am well on my way and just had to shout out some words of encouragement!!! :-h

  3. HOWDY MCCRACKEN!!! I KNOW WHAT YOU MEAN ABOUT HEAD HUNGER. I SAW A DONUT COMMERCIAL THE OTHER DAY AND GUESS WHAT I STARTED TO CRAVE? THAT IS RIGHT, A DARN DONUT. DAMN COMMERCIALS!!!

WHAT KIND OF COMPANIES DO YOU AND JENN OWN. I THINK IF YOU CAN WORK FOR YOU SELF, THAT IS TERRIFIC. IT IS HARD WORK, BUT I THINK IT IS WORTH IT IN THE END.

    TAKE CARE, LISA

    Hey Lisa,

    Donuts Huh???

Jenn... believe it or not owns a candy store, and my husband and I own a flooring/ cabinets ect. store. So other than donuts how ya feeling. I have my neck all screwed up and Jenn has a bad cold so we suck, but anyway we shall prevail.

    Keep In Touch!!

  4. :) Hey Girls

Happy Friday! I thought Iwould share that I am sick of the gas pains I have stocked up on Phzyme. Jenn said all her gas pains were gone soooo lucky me and the extra HOT AIR. As far as fills go I called around too yesterday and I am not sure where I am gonna go either. Jenn and I both own our own companies so this will be tricky... I will keep you guys posted. Jenn said she watched America's best steak  why I dont know, but we both admitt the MIND hunger and really get the best of us.

    Have a Great Weekend!! ><'

  5. HEY MAY 8TH BANDMATES-

How are you? It was a pleasure meeting you all and your hubbies ect.. Jenn and I are doing well yesterday we talked about being a little weak have you guys been? Not hungery yet though, but I gotta tell you the gas is somewhat OUT OF CONTROL  Incisions are great... the port one alittle sore yet but totally better. Down 3lbs I thought I would be down 50 to 60lbs going without food for 6 days  Let me know whats happening people!!!!

  6. :P WELCOME!!! and CONGRATS!!!

I bet you are sooo excited. My name is Brenda and I was banded on 5-8-08. The things you need in TJ are confortable clothes, sweats, PJ's the hotel has brothes & juice and that takes care of the food part, I took Gas-X strips and went through a box in 2-3 days. Expect to be taken care of try not to be nervous, I wrote before I have never even had surgery so I was clueless. They will take care of you, I took my husband and had it done with my best friend soooo that helped alot. The pain is all about the weird gas pains the incisions are not bad the port incision is petty tender. I am stubborn so I was up and at them within a day. Everyone including myself have asked these questions, but by reading this forum it will help tremendously. Its great to meet you and best of luck :-h

  7. Hey There!!

I wanted to let you know I had my surgery on the 8th and I spent soooo much time worring.... Please TRY not to. I have never been to Tia Juana, never had surgery anywhere much less in a foriegn country, so I am just tring to tell you to relax. They do take care of you, cant say it was amazing or outstanding, but they picked me up on time, the hotel was great, OCC was very informative during testing, Dr. Ortiz was attentive and created a very relaxed atmosphere, the after care was ok I had my surgery later so I had to spend the night, but by morning I was ready to roll. The day after I relaxed and the next I walked and shopped like crazy. Its been 6 days and I feel great. Ready to take off the fat suit and start my life a new.

Best of luck to all up and coming banders!!! ><'

  8. Girl I'm feeling your pain-

Is it constant? Mine is not constant. I am 6 days post op and your right the gas pains are super intense. I havent lost a pound, however I have lost my mind with the pain in my sholder... ouch #-o .

I am only sympathizing with you and can tell you I live on Gas - X strips. I hope you are ok.

  9. HI JENA & LADIES,

I REALLY LOVED  ALL THE COMMETS, TO BAD THERE IS NOT A MARKET FOR SKINNY, GORGEOUS COMEDIAN WOMEN. LOL

I guess I agreed most with the comment about looking good for my husband. We have been married for 16 years and I want to be all that for him. Selfishly I would like to just get dressed in the morning and be happy-vs- looking in the mirror and cry :(( .

Looking foward to seeing the 8, 9 and 10 banders!

  10. I leave Portland, Oregon tomorrow to head for San Diego for my banding. I want to wish those who I will be running into a safe trip. May our surgeries be a success!!!! For those who will not be joining us, I hope all is well.

    Take care,

    Lisa :girl_dance:

    Hey Lisa!!

I also will be leaving New Mexico tomorrow and banded 5/8 I was curious are you just so full of anxiety??? Cuz I feel as if I could emplode, seriously I am on the verge of a freakout :P . I hope to get to meet you, save travels.

  11. Great Questions!! I wanted to answer even though Im not "in the band" yet <_<

    1) 38

    2) I thought I was fat all my life. I was bigger than ALL the girls in school, however my weight when I graduated was 146lb, soo I dont know.... I felt fat does that count.

    3) a million / college 40lbs / time flies when youre eating 40 in 2000 and in the last 8 years I just decided "what the heck 60lbs

    4) Ive been dieting since January 3 and I have lost 28 lbs and will be banded 5/8 so I pray that I will speed up the process.

    5) ?

72 hours to LIFT OFF!!! :D

  12. I know exactly how you feel...I don't go to the movies, or anywhere where the seats are small. I have fly on Tuesday morning and I get anxious because the seats are so small, my butt is so big and I always have to ask for a seatbelt extender..and it's embarrassing...but I must keep in mind, as you do, the next time I won't need one and I will fit comfortably in the seat!!

Thanks for you reply....you have a great week too!!

    Cathy

I couldnt get my plane seatbelt on either, too embarrassed to ask for the stupid extender I covered with a blanket and prayed no one noticed I was sweating bullets in Phoenix Az...... Yeah I am beyond ready to take off the fat suit once and for all. Here is to us and our soon to be hot new bodies

  13. =D> Hey Cathey!

I am packed and can not believe that I will be in TJ Wednesday and banded Thursday. I also had a very similar feeling. My husband and I went to a concert well the seats were soooo tiny I felt dissapointed that I could sit and be comfortable, then I realized this embarrassing issue would soon be over and I was the only one criyng at a comedy show. :lb12:

    HAVE A GREAT WEEK!

  14. Hi All!

This is a pre-op diet question so I hope I have it posted in the right area. My surgery dates is 5/30 and I started my pre-op diet yesterday. I need to lose 12 pounds so I thought I better start early instead of later.

I seem to do very well during the day but from 8 pm to 10 pm I find myself walking to the fridge and pantry every 5 minutes looking for something to eat! I think a huge part of my weight problem is that I have always eaten dinner late, between 8 and 10. What I'm just now realizing is that I ate dinner the entire 2 hours between 8 & 10!!!!

Back in the B.C. years (Before Children) I could imagine using this time to walk on the treadmill to take my mind off the munchies. But that just isn't possible right now -- 8 to 10 means baths, packing lunches & backpacks, laundry, mail/bills, laying out clothes for tomorrow, answering work emails, etc. etc. My husband travels most weeknights so I don't have help with running the household / kids during the week and I work a solid 60+ hours a week (and I'm taking real estate classes on-line in the evenings.) It's just a crazy period of the day for me and I must be stress eating. It's definitely my witching hour(s)!

Any suggestions? Should I just chomp on celery untill I turn green or go to bed hungry?

    ~Tanya

    Hey Tanya! :lb12:

I am freaking about the pounds before the band too. I have a week to go and you know its just a few weeks for a life time of health. I told my husband I feel like I have been in a fat suit for sooo long and put your mind in the right zone and dont look back. Good Luck !!

All of your discussions have taken my stress level down tremendously, seriously I just cant wait. So just thought I would quit being voyeristict and join in the conversations.
