  1. hi, i got my 4th fill 11/11 and the fill guy tells me that its ok to eat or drink right before a fill, and that i wont feel it for a couple of weeks, witch i dont. what do you all think. and i just got over a bout with the flu(bad) spent one night throwing up, do you think this could damage or move my band? not able to eat much yet because of flu. thanks karen

  2. I WAS AT MY FILL STATION THE OTHER DAY TO BE WEIGHTED IN, AND I WAS TALKING TO MY FILL PERSON, I ASK HIM ABOUT SOFT FOOD VERSUS SOLID FOOD, IF SOFT FOOD WENT THROUGH MY BAND RIGHT AWAY VERSUS SOLID FOOD STAYING IN MY POUCH LONGER. HE SAY THAT SOFT FOOD STAY IN THERE JUST LIKE SOLID FOODS. AND I ASK HIM IF I CAN EAT MORE W/SOFT FOODS. HE SAY I CANT. I FEEL I CAN EAT MORE SOFT FOOD VERSUS EATING SOLID FOODS.

I ASK HIM THIS QUESTION, BECAUSE I FEEL I WAS EATING MORE SOFT FOOD, LIKE SALADS AND STILL FEELING HUNGURY. I HOPE THIS MAKES SINCE, BECAUSE I WOULD LIKE SOME FEED BACK. THANKS KAREN

  3. HI, I JUST FIQURE OUT WHAT YOU ALL MEAN WHAT PB'ING IS, WORST FEELING I EVER HAD SINCE HAVING LAPBAND,EVEN THE SURERY AND GAS WAS NOTHING COMPARED TO PB'ING. HAD ALOT OF SLIMING AND UP CAME A LITTLE BIT OF SLIME.

DR. SAYS ONE TIME AND I WON'T DO THAT AGAIN. I THINK I DID'NT CHEW GOOD ENOUGH. BUT OVERALL I'VE HAVE STUCK TO WHAT I'AM SUPPOSE TO DO, SO AFTER 5 MONTH I WAS SUPPRIZE WHEN IT HAPPEN  KAREN

  4. Me too, what size band and how much have they put in each fill.

I CANT REMEMBER THE CORRECT AMOUNT EACH TIME, BUT TOTAL TO DATE IS 1.7CC, AFTER BEING BAND W/DR ORITZ HE ONLY PUT IN .3CC. I DONT FEEL I HAVE TO MUCH FILL AND IAM LOSING A LITTLE OVER 7 POUNDS A MONTH, BUT I WENT BACK EACH MONTH BECAUSE I WAS ABLE TO EAT MORE THAN A CUP OF FOOD AT A SITTING AND I DIDNT FEEL A RESTRICTION. PLUS I DONT HAVE ANYBODY AROUND ME TO TALK ABOUT THIS, OTHER THAN TO READ WHAT ALL YOU GUYS

DISCUSSION. I DONT THINK I WILL BE GETTING ANYMORE FILL FOR AWHILE. MY BAND SIZE IS 4CC. KAREN

  5. I live in Joplin, MO and i had my surgery done by Dr. Ortiz. I had one fill at Weight Loss Surgery Center, in Springfield MO for $250.00. They also do the surgery there and have drs on staff for questions or conserns. When I called to set up my fill, they asked me if I was referred by Dr. Ortiz because they have had other referrals from him and his office and they had nothing but good things to say about him. Hope this helps, good luck.

HI KELLY, THANKS FOR LETTING ME KNOW ABOUT WEIGHT LOSS CENTER, DO YOU HAVE A # FOR THEM.

    THANKS KAREN

  6. Hi khaan,

Some US doctors check the band placement and the ability for water to flow thru the band before their patients leave the hospital... They use the barrium to watch it flow through the band on the fluroscope (this is similar to what will happen during your fills) It's just a double check for any complications, the barium test allows the doctor to see that the band isn't too tight right after surgery.

Dr. Ortiz doesn't do this but I have yet to hear anyone with any complications like that directly after surgery, I think it is probably more of a test to cover the doctors butt with the insurance companies that are paying for these US surgeries.

THANKS, I WONDER IF I PAID FOR IT, COULD I HAVE IT DONE JUST FOR PIECE OF MIND, SINCE I LIVE IN MISSOURI. KAREN

  7. I live in Olympia, where there is a doctor who does fluoro fills, but I'm choosing to go back to OCC for my first fill. After that, we'll just have to wait and see. With all the fuel surcharges on airline tickets coming up, I may go here for 375 with fluoro, or make the drive to Arlington for 125-150. They only use fluoro though in Arlington to find the port, not to measure liquid going thru. I've heard alot of good things about both. Check them out on the web - they are great about emailing back too.

There is rarely a time when you need an urgent doctor for your band - and even then, OCC asks you have your doctor call them. Some doctors unfamiliar with bands can make mistakes - like take it out! My doctor at Group Health said he would treat me for anything - obviously, life or death.

Make sure you tell your regular doctor you have the band and says as much in your file.

is there any doc's in south missouri for fill or unfill, fluoro fills
