  1. I live in Clarksville, Tn and I found a Dr in Nashville. His name is Hugh Houston. For Mexico patients, your first two fills are done under X-ray.The first two fill trips were pricey, but rest are not bad. The time factor going back to OCC was a problem for me. Roswell may be your best bet. Living in Chattanooga, you are half-way between Atlanta and Nashville.

  2. I was banded June 16 at the OCC. My family thought that I was crazy for going to Mexico to be banded. I had done a lot of research

and had read Dr. Ortiz's book. His book is one of the best on the subject. I was quite impressed with the whole experience. I could not had any better care anywhere. The care that I received was far better than I had had in the U.S. Everyone that I came into contact with at the OCC , you could just tell that loved what they were doing. The clinic was spotless. I traveled to Mexico not only because that I was a self pay patient, but of their experience and the number of lap-band surgeries that Dr. Ortiz and Dr. Martinez had done.

Congrats for making the decision for a healthier life. Not only did I save a lot of money, I feel like that I had a better experience by going to TJ to the OCC.

  3. Good luck and fingers crossed!! ;) Are you going back to the OCC?

No, I am going to Nashville. I found a Dr who will do my fills and aftercare. He is only 45 miles from where I live. I would love to go back to the OCC for my fills but, time is an issue.

I was going to use the Fill Center in Farmington, Missouri. Even though the Fill Center is cheaper, when taking into consideration the price of gas and the time traveling there, the extra expense is worth it for me. I figured my first 3 fills cost at both places, driving time and gas expense etc, etc. It was only about 200 dollars more and 14 hrs less driving time. I will also have access to a nutritionist.

  4. It has come to my attention that some of my personal e-mails have been making the rounds to different people. No problem I guess, since nothing is really private on the INTERNET anyway, but since I had not known this previously, I was unable to defend myself. I DO NOT care to bring up old problems but all I need to say is that some of those so-called e-mails of mine had been altered before they were sent. They were also responses to e-mails I had been antagonized with first. I do not now, nor did I ever send nasty hurtful e-mails to anyone just out of the blue for no reason. The only time I did it was AFTER I had received hateful and nasty e-mails to begin with and was simply responding in kind. A certain person was trying to demean my character in any way he could whether it was truthful or not. I am only sorry that this person did not include his own e-mails to me which precipitated my responses. If that had been the case, I am confident people would have had a better understanding of the situation.

Again, this post is simply to defend myself and doesn't really need any further discussion. Just remember one important thing: what you read may not always be the truth, especially when the person involved has no opportunity to defend themselves. Also, If anyone EVER has a problem with my e-mails or posts or simply wants to ask me if I did or said anything, I will gladly discuss this with you privately and you may simply send me a message. I will always respond with the truth.

WOW! It seems that I have missed something while being gone. Mona-Camille, I have found your posts to be very supportive and good knowledge worth sharing. And I agree, sharing and altering personal e-mails is very wrong and down-right mean.

  5. Hey hey!

I'm another newbie, heading down to be banded in November (the 5th) at OCC and going out of my mind counting down (literally, I've got countdown calendars everywhere .. :P) the days til I'm on that plane! I'm 28 and from Canada.

Honestly, not only am I excited for that, but I'm spending a couple of days in San Diego prior to go see the zoo and Sea World which I've been dying to do since I was a kid. I was planning on keeping it on the downlow and just surprise everyone with my weight loss, but I have a big mouth.. hehe ;)

But I just wanted to drop a hello since I'm the shy type, even on the internet, and I'm working on overcoming that too.

    So hi everyone! :girl_hide:

Welcome to the forum. Congrats on your progress so far. November will be here before you know it.

  6. Good evening all! I found this site a few days ago and have to tell you that everyone around here seems wonderful! What a great support system! I haven't had the surgery yet but I'm in the motions of getting started with it all. I wanted to join to see what everyone has been saying about the surgery and I can see that it has great results.

I'm 30 and overweight ... ok, obese. I weigh 267 (5'4") and for whatever reason, i just cannot lose the weight with diet and exercise. The last 5 months I have had two miscarriages and can't help but think that its because of my weight that this has happened (my doctor never did tell me it was weight related but that these things happen but its still in the back of my mind). So I have decided to put the plans on hold for a baby for later in 2009 and take control of myself and body.

I can't wait until I can finally say that I have had the surgery and on the weight loss train with y'all. I'm glad I've found this forum and excited for the day I can join you in conversation in regards to weight loss!!

    Have a good evening everyone!

    Alana from Canada

You are not alone. We are all here to help. Message me anytime. :)

    Best,
