  1. I would agree with Lisa. Cheez wiz is not for us! I tried to still eat the same foods in smaller quantities and am now realizing that I have to stop eating those foods to help my band help me. Cheez wiz has NEVER been something that I would eat but I would compare it to a piece of cake for me. What is the value in it? There is none. Try to remember your reason for getting the band. Help your band help you. I learned the hard way and am now on the right path. Don't start off on the wrong path like I did, it just lenghtens the time before you begin to see the new you.

  2. It's an interesting question. I remember a few years ago when I looked into having gastric bypass the doctor asked me several times if I was sure. He cited a patient of his that lost all of her weight and her husband wouldn't touch her because her body was so different in such a short amount of time. With him not able to adjust to the change in her body they ended their marriage.

The other end of it is self esteem. Your husband has been comfortable with you being fat because in his mind no one else will want you if your fat. When you lose all of the weight and other guys check you out their self esteem issues kick in and they become jealous and possesive. This is what causes the friction.

In other situations it could be that you were afraid to leave because you did not have the confidence to do it before.

jealousy is a powerful emotion. We have all heard the doctor say not to be suprised that you will lose some friends after this.

I do not think it is the "band" but more the outcome of the band and the pre-existing issues that causes marriages to end.

  3. That is exactly how I would look at it. I am considering driving to Flagstaff to get a fill and was reviewing the doctor's stats. He has done 200 surgeries! Dr Ortiz has done over 6000! That is a huge difference. After looking at those numbers I would feel much better about Dr. Ortiz and the OCC!

you are going to be fine. The surgery took 20 minutes total and that was with fixing a hernia.

  4. With the gastric bypass they actually reroute your intestines so that the food does not stay in your system as long so you lose weight faster. With gastric bypass you have a more evasive surgery with higher risk of complications. In addition you have dumping syndrome (google it...its not fun). In addition it is easier to suffer from malnutrition with gastric bypass because the food basically goes right through you. You can restretch out your pouch also and regain all of your weight (check out Carnie Wilson's experience).

    Bottom line..

You will lose weight faster with gastric bypass but with higher risk.

  5. I'm wondering if I need another fill. I had my first fill 1.5cc in the 4cc band on August 9th. It is now August 23th and I have lost 0 lbs since my fill; and no I'm not drinking my calories.

I'm thinking I need one because:

I can still eat the same amount I ate before my fill

    I feel hungry often

I'm wondering how you guys made the decision to get a fill and if there is anything else I should look for to make the decision.

  6. WOW! I'm sure that leaving him behind was not an easy thing to do but from his attitude it does sound like it may have been the best thing to do. Stay stong and follow your instincts and heart. It is important that you do what is best for you and especially your kids.

    Best wishes.
