  1. Does anyone have any special recipe that they would like to share with us for the liquid stage? This is a long phase and I really love to have different tastes. I am working on some and when I get them figured out I will post, but in the mean time if you have anything good that you are keeping to yourself, please share

  2. Hey Cheryl,

I'll be getting banded on the 3rd of October, almost a full week ahead of you. The best advice I can give right now is to surround yourself with positive support. I'd be scared out of my mind right now but both my parents are coming down with me to support me which helps alot.

As I'm writing this I'm waiting for my webserver to reinstall itself after the hard drive died. *sigh* A pleasant week off is not far away . . . .

    Good luck to you!

    - Corey

    hope your surgery went well!

    B) My date has been scheduled for the 10th of October I will be flying in from AZ -----looking for anyone to come along with friend and myself to explore the shpoping area around there I wil be in on October 9th for the pre op things --Cyndi in AZ

Can't wait to see you in TJ!

  3. This is my first reply to the forum after reading for weeks. I live in Hendersonville TN, which is 20 miles north of Nashville. I am flying from Nashville to San Diego on Oct. 8 and will be having surgery on the 9th. Are you flying out of Nash? I am flying southwest.

Where is the Southcenter? Is this a restaurant? I will be flying in on Oct 8 for surgery on the 9th.

I am flying out of Knoxville on the 6th to head for a salsa competition, we won the state of TN so we get to go for the world champ. in Omaha on the 7th. I am then flying to San Deigo on the 8th and surgery on the 9th and home on the 11th and hopefully with the trophy and a 1000. check! I will sort of have a trophy with my new band! so I guess I am a winner either way

  4. KEv,. Thanks for the encouragement ,

I am fully comfortable with Dr Ortiz, I too have read and researched his work..One person I work with was banded here in Fl by a Dr was was taught by Dr Grossbard who was banded and taught by Dr Ortiz...

that pretty much made her stop and think when she questioned Mexico and Dr Ortiz..I getting the instructor , she had the pupil twice removed!!!

I am one of those people who cannot keep a secret..so I have told most of the nurses I work with.. there are 7 of us ,,and a few others and MOST people have been encouraging...

some ,bless their hearts ,say I don't need the surgery.. I love them the most lol...but I also think they must need glasses. Some others are just concerned for me. I did promise I would call them post op and let them know I am still alive..

I am going to Mexico alone so that is another concern for them..

All my other trips to Mexico were also alone but that was for vacation to visit friends who live in Mexico , unfortunately not near TJ..

    thanks again, Pegala

I am going through similar feelings. One minute I am strong and confident, and the next minute, it's fetal position on the couch! My surgery is scheduled for Oct.9th so this is my last week on real food for awhile. How can I abandon my life long friend? the one who has stood by me through thick and thin? I look at all of the bottles of medicine I am on, that's how! Iam so tired of being tired! My health is in the toilet, my joints are sore and besides that, when I lay on the beach, they keep trying to roll me in the water? why is that? I had to take a 2nd out on my house to pay for this. I feel that this is the best thing for me, but then again, I am stepping WAY out of comfort food, oops, I mean zone! I have told everyone I know, except my mother, but that is a whole other story. I hope that this forum is helping you as much as it is helping me. I love knowing that other people are feeling the way I do, and just knowing I am going in with my eyes wide open! Best of luck and please keep us posted! YOU ARE MAKING THE RIGHT DECISION!

  5. Hello friends,

I am having to deal wiht the surgery and the move both, but I think it will be ok, new place to live and a new life. Sorry we won't be there at the same time but I wish you well and hope things go well. Let me know how you do and how things are down there.

    HI :)

I changed the subject of this topic to October surgery patients - sorry I didn't get it started sooner! All October surgery patient gather here for support and to coordinate with each other if you want to meet up at the clinic.

Thank you for starting the Oct. thread. I am so excited, but then I am so scared! I have lots of support and all that, but.... I am glad this forum is here!

  6. Hello fellow washington banders!

I have just moved from the great State of WA. I am getting banded on Oct. 9th! I can't wait. I lived in Mt. Vernon my whole life! We have moved to TN because my husband was 22yrs navy and avoided his family long enough, so we moved here. I guess I wanted to see how other people live. My name is Cheryl Kilcollins and you will be seeing me post on here. I am reading Dr. Ortiz's book right now. I want to go into this with eyes wide open and as much knowledge as I can. I want to thank everyone for being so open and honest with their concerns and their errs so that newbies like me can learn from!

  7. Is there anyone out there who is getting banded on the 9th of Oct? That is my surgery date. I live in Maryville, TN and I am excited about the surgery. I am nervous, especially after reading some of the posts on this site. I will do my best to follow the program and make sure that I exercise. I had to take out a second on my house to pay for this, since my insurance won't pay. I have enough money for 2 fills and hopefully I will be able to save enough for the rest of them. I will be reading a lot, and I am grateful that this is here so I can avoid some of the situations brought up here. I hope to write a cook book for bandsters, I did buy one from amazon.com along with Dr. Ortiz's book, which I should be getting in a few days. :) Please let me know if someone is getting banded on that day or close to it.
