  1. I am not where you are in this process, I am booked for the 27th of Aug with Dr.O. But I am curious what your motivation was to get the band. I know that I am at the point in my life where at 45 yrs of age and living with obesity since I hit puberty that this seems like it might be the answer for me to have a normal life. I know that there will be ups and downs and I am not expecting it to be easy but I could not look my Husband or my 3 Daughters in the eyes if I didn't give this opportunity my very best shot. They have suffered through my struggles with weight and my depression about it for many years and they are behind me on this adventure. My plan before going in is to do everything the Doctor says and if I have any problems or issues, believe me, I will be calling the clinic and posting on this forum.

Hi there my motivation was 1st my kids, I want to go on rides with them, I want to not worry if I'll fit in a chair,I want to be able to sit on the floor with my daughters Brownie troop, and I want to live longer then my mom, we both have type 1 diabetes,it took her at 61 and my Dr. said if I don't get this weight off I may not live that long, and Damn it I want to be SKINNY 4 once in my life!

    Good luck to all, Dante'

  2. Hi there, I'm kinda really depressed. I went back to OCC with my husband to get my 1st fill and my husband got banded on 8-14-08, and when I talked to Dr. Ortiz he asked how I was doing and I told him that I'm totally ready for my fill and that I'v only lost like 6-7 lbs. since my syguery and he totally ripped me a new one how I didn't follow his guide lines or I would have lost much more. I told him I had a problem with all the salt in the broths and I had a lot of up and down water weight with that and he told me that was all in my head, that I was not working with my band, that I totally screwed up and that I bacically failed the first 6 weeks.I know that I was eating less food, and maybe could have done better, but he told me not to depend on the fills, that it's also will power. If I had all that will power I wouldn't be over weight,I thought we needed the fill to make us tighter? Am I wrong, he just totally blew me away, and I still feel really upset!

    Thanks for listening, Dante'

  3. I second that! One thing I hated the most was taking my son to an amusement park and I couldn't get on the rides. :( I can't wait until I can do this. Another thing is take him to the park and be able to play with him and keep up. That's my goals.

    I'm with you, I can't wait to take my kids ( 13 & 5 ) to amusement parks,what a GREAT goal.

  4. Holy Moly!! Why are you freaking out.....am I not reading right or does your ticker say you have lost 67lbs. Why would the band not work for you. All you have to do is work with it. It is not a miracle but it comes close. I had some of the same fears as you at first....OMG what if I eat around the band? What if I stretch my pouch? What if - what if - what if? But what if it does work?!?!? What if I am healthy?!?!? What if I work hard, do my part, let the band do its part, and I lose my excess weight?!?!? Think positive!!! You CAN and you WILL do it!!! Your will power will be stronger than you think. I used to never count calories! I ordered whatever I wanted when I ate out! But now I have a book in my car with ALL of our local restaurants and the nutritional information to the foods they serve. I now have the motivation to make healthy food choices and you will too!!

could you share what book you got with the resturants in it? from your weight loss it sounds like it helps, your pics. look great !

  5. Hi, this is also my 2nd week of being bandded,my son and I were done the same time . We keep going up and down with our weight, everybody tells me it's all the SODIUM that is in the soup and that is true, but it is still discouraging, but I weight 302 and at my size I have to lose a lot of weight for it to really show.I've lost 45lbs in the last year and just bearly notice it. But from what everybody says on here and what I have read we won't really lose much weight until we get our fills,so just hang in there, and good luck.
