  1. Don't despair.. you probably need an adjustment.. and avoid fast food altogether.. it's bad no matter how smart your menu choice seems... are you getting any exercise? even just walking is better then nothing.. I walk on my lunch break every day.. i'm up to a mile at lunchtime and try to take another walk in the evenings... do you feel restriction at all? do you feel like you can eat more then you should? are you drinking with your meal? (you shouldn't)... hang in there.. it's a process but you'll get there... :)

  2. awwww... he is cute.. but HEY!! He is my brother too you know... he looks very laid back and a bit sarcastic!! he'll fit right in.... i posted a photo of myself... all by myself too i might add... you should be proud! it's the first photo of myself that i've actually allowed and liked in probably more then a decade!! :)

  3. Hello to All: I'm new to the forum, just signed in yesterday although I've been watching and reading this for a couple of months. I'm leaving for TJ, Mexico this evening and really nervous to have the surgery tomorrow. I'm not nervous about the pain, but that this is another attempt that wouldn't work. I'm ignoring my bariatric Drs. advice and "bad talk" about lap band surgery and "how he knows one of his patients had it and only lost 15 lbs" and decided that if it worked for so many here on this forum that it MUST do some good. Anyway, here it goes!! :unsure:

    Not to worry.. I had tried everything and this is what worked for me.. I can't believe any bariatric doctor would advise against it, he/she must not be up on the lapband or they'd be happy for you and supportive.. but I guess that's what we are here for!! Good luck!! You'll do fine... and you won't ever regret it... :) merideth

  4. I have been waiting til I was comfortable in my 16's so here is a pic. 2 pair of dress pants, black and tan, they are really comfy and cute. 1 pair of shorts, I only wore those once. 1 pair of jeans from Target they are really soft and 1 pair of capris that I wore a lot but they still look nice....

    I guess whoever responds first gets them!

  5. Just another sign of our times where being overweight is not considered a medical problem but rather a personal weakness. I don't agree with lying about it but I do wonder if she had instead had stomach cancer and lied because she didn't want others to know would they have made this big of a deal out of it? Why oh why do people think there is something wrong with a person who gets weight loss surgery done?

    I too am proud and have not kept my surgery a secret from most people. I'm not broadcasting it but I'm pretty open if people want to know. As my weight decreases I expect more and more questions. They can all think what they want.

    Cheryl

    I'm with you... I've told everyone and I don't care what they think.... the vast majority have been supportive and the few who actually had the nerve to ask why i didn't just exercise and eat right were treated to a run down of my more then a decade worth of self and doctor supervised weight loss attempts... but again, I've never much cared what other people think of me.. the only opinion that matters is mine.... :) Merideth

  6. So I went to GNC yesterday when I got off work and looked for I know 30 minutes over all the protein products they have. I decided on the 100% Whey Protein (unflavored) it has 21 grams of protein and 110 calories, 2 fat grams, and 2 carbs per scoop. Sounded like the right bang for my buck. Well I blended it with my slim fast this morning, so all together that is 31 grams of protein for breakfast. Well I mixed it all together and drank a sip and I about threw up! WHY! Its suppose to be unflavored! UGH! :((

    I Agree... YUCK... I have never been able to stomach these things.. powder or premixed shakes.. they are just nasty to me... no matter what the flavor... have you tried drinkable yogurt?? If you're onto food, or when you are, I have a scrambled egg w/ cheese (i'm not a big meat eater) or egg salad to help w/ protein intake.... I also sometimes mix in some canned chicken for chicken/egg salad.......there are also some pretty good protein bars out there just chew them good.... I use them too.... good luck... Merideth :)

    P.S... my sister, uses the powder and fruit/yogurt/ice and makes a smoothie in her blender.. she likes it... i still don't but that works for her... she's here too... mona-camille.....

  7. Hi, I know by now you've had your surgery but I just thought I'd tell you that mine was stitched in place. I had mine done here in the states and my surgeon prefers to stitch them a little to help prevent slippage.. just fyi... :) hope your surgery went well and hope it's working for you!! :) Merideth

  8. Hi all... I'm the sister who, as it turns out, does NOT have an infection at my port...I went into my surgeon the following monday (2 days later).. there is no infection at my port. He says ER doc's just don't know anything about banding and make assumptions... so I was put on a high dose of antibiotics for nothing.... Dr. Boorse suggested giving it a week or so to see how it goes as it may have been viral (green poop). As of this writing (10 days later from ER visit), I am in my 4th day of almost no pain so I guess he was right.....

    Ramona: Robin suffered from Idiopathic Bronchial Stenosis.... Idiopathic = unknown origin Bronchial = Bronchial tubes Stenosis = Narrowing....

    so all, that means her breathing tubes were slowly growing shut and there was no known source and no known cure... In fact, she was one of 5 people worldwide (at the time anyway) who had this problem. She was in a coma for 4 weeks before they transferred her to Philadelphia where she was overdosed with Ativan, which culminated in her brain dead state.

    and yes all.. I HAVE SOME CLOTHES!! I just have to get my act together and get them posted... but i'll have anywhere from size 20 - 28...... that much i can tell you now... I'll get myself in gear soon I promise.... hopefully this weekend.... :) :) :)

  9. so whats a gal supposed to do?

    I pulled it out, looked down at it and it was screaming my name, just screaming, so I had to step on it just to shut it up! What choice did I have, it was so loud and waking up the neighbors!

    So, I watched as those digital numbers went all over the place and finally settled ..........down..........on.............259!

    HUH???????????????? Can that be? Why, only last wednesday it said 266 after I got my fill.

    Ok, get off, get back on, get off get back on..........................TWO FREAKING FIFTY NINE!

    confused look in my face..................10 seconds pass................it takes me while to absorb what I am seeing!

    HUGE GRIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Finally on my way down!

    HAPPY ME!!!!

    WAY TO GO SIS!!!

  10. Well, right out of the blue, WHAMMO!

    RESTRICTION!!!!!!!!!! YEAH!!!!!!!!!!

    Darn near died when I tried a bite of tuna on a cracker just now! Should have made it a smaller bite, should have chewed better, and should not have had the second bite so quick. But, glad I did to show me that I HAVE RESTRICTION!!!

    I've gotten so used to not having good restriction from my fills, I wasn't paying attention to my eating. But apparently, this business of it taking a week or so to kick in is RIGHT!!!

    ~~~~~~~I am happy again~~~~~~~~~
    Oh, and my computer is in the shop and I have my fingers crossed that it is just the power supply and not the mother board or a full crash. I should know today or tomorrow.
    It's a DELL. A very hugh end DELL. I figured spend the money get a high end DELL and it will last me for years. Well, let me tell you, I have had it 3 years and have had major problems with it since day 1. The 2 men at the computer repair store were kind of laughing at me, and told me they get in DELLS all the time for repairs. Needless to say, I will not be buying another one.
    WAHOOOOOOO!!! About time, eh sis? Hope it sticks this time!!! and by the way, I have had my Dell for 7 years and it has been great until recently when my speakers decided to quit and my burner decided it had had enough too..... maybe you just got a dud..... my next one will be a Dell also.... but good job on the fill working!!!
  11. She is a gorgeous cat! You do have a whole houseful, huh?
    haha.. yes, she has a house full.... and I see that since her family is tired of hearing about her cats ALL THE TIME that she's spewing here now too.. hee hee.... but we love you mona!
  12. The scale doesn't tell you everything, and you have witnessed that. I think clothes fitting more comfortably or even fitting in clothes that you haven't been able to wear in a long time is actually more of a success than the scale. It's all about how you feel, and when you walk around in clothes that are so tight that you feel like the button is going to fly off any moment, then to finally feel them loose and barely hanging on...that's when I walk with my head high in confidence. The scale can either motivate you or depress you, go with the everyday things that makes you feel better inside, be your own inspiration!!
    Congrats!
    Evette
    Right on!! I'm with you 100%.....
