  1. I'm not sure if that reply was to me, but if so I don't mind telling you where we live. Ontario, CA. Where do you live? Cori (my daughter) Would really like to talk to someone in her age group if that would be okay with you and can pass this on to her???

I read your weight loss. OMG! Thats great. My daughter has lost 30lbs as of Friday. She can't see it but we can.

My son Joey was 13 when he was banded by Dr. Ortiz back in July. When he decided to get banded in mid-may, he was just under 300lbs. So far he's lost over 60 lbs!!! It works for teens!

  2. I am so bummed I missed this...I did not see any warning the day or two prior to it being shown either.

How do I get a copy?

I am not shocked that the young doctor was questioning Dr. Ortiz so hard, he is a real prick if you have ever watched the Bachelor that he was on...he thinks quite highly of himself.

I have the show on DVD and I am working to see if I can get it put up online. If anyone is interested in seeing it, send me a private message. I'll see what I can do.

Thanks to all of you and the support this forum brings. It was tough for my wife & son & I to do the show but we feel so strong about it.

By the way, Joey is now down over 60lbs!!!

  3. I have AOL, not sure if any of you do and if so you might have noticed this.

I think it is wonderful that the Fishells gave their son a choice to have surgery for his obesity! Otherwise, he would STILL be struggling. The U.S. doesn't allow this, but Thank God for Dr. Ortiz and the OCC!

I got a little upset reading the comments, people are so quick to judge. They are IDIOTS!

Anyway, I wanted to share this. I think it is awesome that they have gone public. It will speak volumes to other parents thinking 'there is nothing they can do.'

    Please watch the video!

Thank you for the support and kind words.

My wife Dante' was having a hard time with some of the comments she read in response to the article on Momlogic.com. I had to explain to her that these people obviously are not the brightest as some of their comments were made without reading the article as most were convinced he had gastric bypass.

For those of you who don't know about us, Not only has Dante' & Joey had surgery @ OCC on 7/2/08, but Dante's sister, me (her husband) had it @ OCC on 8/14/08 and now my step-mom had it @ OCC on 10/8/08. (No this isn't a paid advertisement for OCC, in fact we have not been paid a single penny for any of the articles we have done)

Between Dante', Joey & myself, we have lost a combined weight of over 150 lbs thanks to Dr Ortiz. (This includes pre-surgery weight loss).

For those who missed the first two articles in the San Diego Union/Tribune:

    Sunday 9/21/08: http://www.signonsandiego.com/news/health/...z1n21risks.html

    Monday 9/22/08: http://www.signonsandiego.com/news/health/...1n22report.html

This just goes to show how uninformed people are and how much they judge a book by its cover.

Don't let them discourage you in the positive choices we all have made.

    Mike, Dante' & Joey

  4. Jann, I was banded only 5 days ago now and since then i also have no compulsion to eat and only eat (should i say drink due to liquid diet) because

i have to. I battle due to the full sensation to drink 2 opitfast shakes and losing around a kilo per day (which is about 2.2pounds) since being banded but i am concerned im not getting enough protein.. what is a protein bomb??? i know the the opifast only has 17g of protein.

I just got some of the Isopure from GNC. The Dutch Chocolate is really good. A lady I work with said the Vanilla wasn't that good though.

I mix it in the blender with a banana and a teaspoon of PB2 Powdered Peanut Butter (85% less fat than regular peanut butter) and it makes an awesome shake! The Isopure has only 210 calories and 50 grams protein in 2 scoops so it's great!

I was banded 8/14 and go on solid good today but am still going to do one of these shakes instead of a meal because they are soooo good!!!!

  5. I am getting banded in Sept, I vote for San Diego. It would be easier for me to get there, plus I can't stand the heat of Vegas yikes!

Just remember, Las Vegas is COLD in February... San Diego is nice pretty much year round.

I work for a self-help book publishing company. We are actually moving one of our conferences from Las Vegas to San Diego next year because like someone else said, getting to vegas is the cheap part. Everything else is what's expensive, plus San Diego has so much to offer. Also meeting space in San Diego is half the price of Vegas...

Maybe I'm pushing for San Diego because there are 4 of us (2 banded 7/2/08 & 2 getting banded 8/14/08), but lets face it, San Diego is REALLY nice and it would be great to see the doctors there.

    My 2 cents...

  6. Hi Everyone,

As you can see I'm a newbie. Hubby and I are scheduled for lapband on Aug 4 and will be staying thru the 9 to enjoy the peace and quiet. Maybe we'll meet some new friends there. Scared and excited at the same time. Getting back into my skinny clothes will be so nice! In time.......slow going so far but that could be cause I'm 52....but I will make this work!!

I'm also hoping to be able to add some the kewl items everyone adds to their post. Give me time to learn that also. Each site is different and I'll catch on soon!

Hope to hear from some of you. Thanks in advance for writing.

    Butter

We were on vacation the week before their surgery, staying at a Ritz Carlton and the Palazzo Hotel (the new tower at the Venetian in Las Vegas). Of these two and the Lucerna hotel in Mexico, the Lucerna was hands down THE BEST hotel we were at. We felt like we were royalty there! Enjoy your time down there...
