  1. I had a poached egg, which was completely fine, and half an english muffin. It was the best food I have ever had. I love solid food!!

Dave, I'm jealous of your weight lose. I am still hoovering between 23-33 pounds. But I guess it will come. I am anxious to be on to the next phase of this. I am also anxious to figure out if I will need a fill. It looks like my aunt will be having surgery and I will be going with her the end of October. So I really hope I need a fill, as I will be there anyway. I think I probably will, but who knows. Right now, I still don't eat much, but I'm sure that will change.

Hey biggin... Let me know how the chicken and steak go... I bet you will be chewing all day.... I just want something simple so that I dont PBing... I am re-thinking of what I want and what I need to eat now... so I believe I am on the right path.

I still would like some oatmeal though.

  2. JUST STICK TO WHAT YOUR DR HAS TOLD YOU TO DO AND FOLLOW THAT TO A TEE, SINCE EVERY DR IS DIFFERENT

CONGRATULATIONS ON TAKING HEALTH MATTERS INTO YOUR OWN HANDS SO EARLY :)

First it would be nice to have some mashed potatoes right now... but come on really 3 weeks of following a diet isnt going to kill you! You will be able to eat things like that for the rest of your life. And Doctors dont tell you to do something just to make you suffer they tell us things so we can become well and healthy! I will admit following clear liquids is hard at times but I know in my heart and mind that Dr. Ortiz and Dr. Miranda want the best for me and each one of there patients so lets just stick to a clear liquid diet we can do it I know we "ALL" can.

  3. Hang in there Karen. It gets bettter. I remember everyone telling me that they were back to work in just a few days and feeling great. Well, it took me almost 2 months to feel like myself again. No one know I have had this surgery except my husband. Not even, my children ages 26 to 6. It's not like i'd die if anyone found out, I just figure it's nobody elses business. Anyway, try making hot chocolate with milk. It goes down easier because it is warm and you get some protein from the milk.

So, this is your first fill? You are just beginning the journey. I think I have had 5 fills and this will be my second unfill. I have been at goal for nearly a year. It took me just over 2 years to reach goal but I'm glad it came off slow. I feel like a whole new person! I love not worrying about how much I weigh or how much to eat etc. The band kind of takes over and lets you know very firmly. I thought I would miss food, pop and all my old bad habits but it hasn't been so bad. I LOVE MY BAND.

Where are you flying in from Karen. I am really familiar with the SouthWest Airlines Terminal at the San Diego Airport since that is how I usually fly. Keep me posted. I actually called to make the appointment for my fill this time. I got the number off the Obesity Control Center website (Contact Us part). I think they open at 9am so I'm right off the bat. I hope Dr. Martinez is there. He does such a wonderful job.

    Write soon, Amy

    Hello everyone!

I live in Idaho and would like to schedule a fill in Oct with Dr. Ortiz but dont want to cross the boarder alone... if anyone would like to share the cost of the driver that would be great... since I am a women I am very frightened to go alone.

My dates are very open right now... so give send me an email or post a reply.

    Thanks,

  4. The good boy has lost 27 pounds ( 12 post-op ), the bad boy has eaten what would be described as mushie foods more so than liquid.

Does or did anyone else not have one iota of a restriction or could they too eat/ drink without becoming full. At leasty I can exercise now, to help keep my mind off food..

    Tom

    Howdy Tom!

I would like to say that I dont have restriction but I very much have it since the surgery. (As you are of from PM)

I like to bake and cook since I cant eat it... that way I smell it so much that I dont have a desire to eat it plus I like to watch others get the calories rather than me.

  5. Where in Mexico can you get the different Mexican flavors?? Is it anywhere near the clinic??

I believe Dr. Miranda said that it was at the shops that are kind by the clinic... I never got a chance to go... so when you go there Dr. Miranda would tell you were you could go and there is always Costco in Mexico.

  6. ;) Hey Bansters!

I am curious about a stomach gas. I have been taking Gas-X peppermint strips and Malox every day and multiple times a day almost with any thing I drink? Is this normal? I wonder if this can hurt me in the long run? I know walking helps alot... I sometimes just cant wait to walk several times a day to just help with the gas in my stomach. Is there something that I can drink that would help me with the awful pain that goes up my stomach and into the chest.

I know pepto isnt good to use very often and children "should not" take pepto so I was just curious about the others.

    Thanks for any help!

  7. I was a little worried about eggs also, after someone said they didn't sit too well with them. But I am also having a hard time thinking of good breakfast food, with protein, that is not too mushy. I wonder if people are doing cereal or cottage cheese, or oatmeal. That kind of thing. I will be going back for a friends surgery in a month, so I will be asking about those things.

Have fun in Hawaii. I am jealous. But I will be able to eat for my anniversary which is very exciting.

I would love to have some oatmeal right now! That sounds so good. I do wonder about some foods that most have problems with... so when the 29 th of Sept. comes me and the hubby have a nice normal dinner together.

  8. :( Finally someone else is having the same thing I am! I wondered if I was eating to fast but I am still taking small sips and I cant take much liquid in. I am to half a can of tomato soup and water though out the day and that is it... It just hurts to much in my left rib cage to have anything else or move after drinking. Popsicles seem to make it worse do they anyone else? The chest pain I totally understand I sometimes still get the pain. I really dont know what causes it but its painful. I sometimes just want to take a bunch of tums or something just to deflate my belly.

Is it safe to take a anti acid?

If anyone can help I sure would appreicate it!

  9. Just wanted to let any patients that are going to be going over to Mexico soon that they are now requiring a passport according the MSN news. I just read it today! They said the average cost for a passport is about 98 bucks (american dollars) and it takes up to 6 weeks to get it.

I guess the old drivers license and birth certificate wont work anymore... so I wonder what are we do until we do get the passport?

Of coarse, they never did look at my birth certificate mabye cause Fransico is a smooth operator for us to get across the boarder! Yeah Fransico!
