  1. First fill can be very disappointing. It took me maybe 4-6 days to fell the slightest bit of restriction, that lasted maybe 2 weeks and then nothing. This is more the norm. I think people think the first fill will make a difference and from what I have read it's the exception to get good or any restriction on the first fill. give it some days though and you might be surprised.

Thanks Julie- I have a follow-up in 2 weeks. We will see how is goes from here.

  2. Hi everyone-

I was banded on August 22, 2008 and got my first fill toady. Can anyone give me any feedback on how it should feel? I think I could feel when the saline was injected (3cc, I was completely empty before) I felt a little squeeze and now nothing. It didn’t stop me from eating lunch or anything... Is this normal?

I guess what I am saying is taht Idont feel any restriction. Is this normal?

    Thanks for your help!

  3. I am new to the board and have enjoyed myself so far but I have a bit of a silly question.... I see a lot of mention of plane tickets and, "flying out" for fills and surgery. Where are people getting their surgery done? I had mine done by a Surgeon that is recommended and a trainer right her 15 minutes from my front door. I just wondered where everyone was going to and if I was/had missed something.

Thanks for letting me ask a stupid (if obvious) question.

  4. Hi Mrs. Smoother, gas is more than normal, postop and for the rest of your life.

The gas pains will subside in time, but the gas after meals doesn't. You will be a very musical person from now on!

Thanks Kathy. I purchased some GasEx today. I will see if that works... It is awful... sometimes painful. :lb12:

  5. Welcome Mrs. Smoother! I am glad to hear you are recovering nicely. I was amazed at how little pain I felt after my surgery. I am now 1 month post op and am anxiously waiting for my first fill at 9/17. good luck on this amazing journey and keep checking back. This is a great resource as well as fabulous people to share with and get advice from.

    Where did you get banded?

I was banded by a surgeon in Atlanta my primary doctor refered me to him and they have worked together on my treatment. He is great abnd has been gret suring the entire journey. I cant ask for a better experience. And they are close so whenever I need anythign it is easy to reach out to them.

  6. Hi- I was recently banded on 8/22/08 and am healing great. I just wanted to meet other people who are going through what I am and get advice. No one know what type of surgery I had but my husband and I and I have so many questions and am starting to get stared from my very close girlfriends (I have already lost 20 lbs according to my doctors scale). I just want a little support and to meet some great people. I don’t get my first fill until 9/11 or 9/15. Thanks and great to meet you all!
