Brian!
Congrats on making this decision, that I believe will change your life forever! I was banded in October 2008 and I am still on this journey. I would just tell you to really wrap your head around the idea that you have to mentally fight hunger after your band. That part never goes away. It doesnt just fall off and stay off. You will still have those cravings and want to eat. Start with good habits and dont break them. Dont drink with your meals, dont get your fill so tight that you live off slider foods that are high in calories. Stick with meat and veggies and lay off the processed foods. Get in a routine of daily exercise and dont let anything stop you from doing it. Get all the junk out of the house and tell your family you need their help by changing their lifestyle too. You will find that chips are so easy to eat, dont buy them! lol
Take care of your band. Follow the liquid diet exactly as you are told after surgery. You dont want to slip your band and these few weeks are crucial.
Good luck! It will take some work and some days you will wonder why you did it. But, one thing I can tell you, your band will help you not gain. I have wanted to lose more, but when I think about it, atleast I am no longer steadily gaining weight. I am thankful & I believe you will be too. Can't wait to hear about your journey!
