  1. I was banded by Dr. Ortiz in October 2008 and I lost a considerable amount of weight. I received a small unfill over a year ago and now I have gone alot of my weight back. I'm going to OCC on April 5th to have my band check out and get a fill. I need encourage and support from my bandsters. I have to change my eating over again. Please provide me some meal suggestions for breakfast and lunch. I will probably need to go back to the basics

  2. I have been diagnosed with fibroids and it has caused me to have an enlarged uterus. Uterus is as if I'm 4 mos pregnant. This has caused my band to be tight most of the time because I'm always bloated. I'm having surgery in a few weeks to remove fibroids so dr wants me to get an unfill. I was just wondering has anyone ever had this problem before with their band?

  3. Pammie is referring to question #4, about patients having an unfill or having their band removed once they reach goal. I don't visit other band websites so I have never read or heard of this. In the 3 years that I have been a moderator here at the OCC (lapband) forum I've never seen a post referring to patients doing this either. My own experiances with the band tells me that I will have to live with it the rest of my life. When I had my plastic surgery and had the band unfilled for 4 months, I gained weight. Needless to say, if I had my band removed, OMG. Dolittles band is for life. I don't want to go back to the 300 pounds I was when I got banded. No, no, no. It's for LIFE!

Dolittle, did you have your band completely unfilled? I'm having surgery to have some tumors removed and I'm going to get an unfilled. But I didn't know how much I should get removed.

  4. In the mornings I am tight and I can only drink hot liquids. I can't eat anything until late afternoon. In the evenings it seems like my band is wide open and I can eat anything. Does anyone have any insight on why there is morning tightness? Or does that mean I am too tight and need a slight unfill?

  5. I recently received a fill at OCC about a week ago. Now I am way too tight and can't eat any foods. I can't be back to OCC until Wednesday for an unfill. Does anyone have any suggestions of what I can do until I get an unfill. Liquids are hard to do first thing in the mornings. Will drinking hot liquids help?

  6. Darlene is great!!!!!! I have had two fills. My first fill was 3cc in 4cc band (yes, that is a large first fill but it worked for me!) and my second fill was .6cc because I only had 2.4cc of my original fill left - so that took me back to 3cc. I have had great results and I love my band!!

    Blazn,

Great job on your weight loss. Do they use flouroscopy for the fills? Is hard to get in for an appointment?

  8. Hi Anne, so how are things going since you got banded? I didn't start starving until day 5 post-op. Dr. Acousta did use the floroscopy. I guess I'm so shocked at how full I am feeling so now I just need to step up my exercise a little more. I did do the transportation pkg for the fill which was $279 and it included 1 night hotel stay. They pick you up at the airport and take you to the center or hotel and back to the airport on your departure date. I think it is $199 if you don't do the 1 night hotel stay.

  9. I got my first fill on Dec. 15th at OCC and I got 2 cc's. Once I eat breakfast and drink my water , I always feel full throughout the day. I try to eat when I get hungry, but my stomach never feels empty or growls. I have been getting headaches so I take that to mean I'm hungry. So on yesterday I made a conscience effort to eat every 3hrs and I didn't get any headaches but I felt so full throughout the day. So is this what restriction feels like? Or is it I probably have some swelling from the fill? Is eating every 3hrs appropriate even if I don't feel hungry? I guess I don't know how I should be feeling since my fill. Please give me some insight.

  10. Thanks so much Jude! Yea on solids I'm so jealous! But i'm hoping my time on phase 2 will go by fast. Now that i'm back at work the days go by much faster so i'm sure it will. I really appreciate the feedback on my list. I worry about making sure I mix it up b/c by yesterday I couldn't even smell broth or i'd start to gag, so I just had to suffer on drinkable yogurt and jello. Let's just say it feels like my stomach is eating itself right now! :o

I've already been thinking about my first meal. I know I shouldn't it just makes me more hungry but I can't help it. Eat slow and enjoy every bite! Funny, most of the stuff i've been thinking about though isn't really junk food. It's been more healthy foods. I keep thinking about fat free refried beans and chicken with taco seasoning on it. Wierd, but true!

    Have a great night!

I was banded at OCC and Dr. Miranda told me no jello.

  11. Did you have some problems coming out? Or were you still groggy? I had an issue where I was awake, but I wasn't all there, and I had to be reminded to breathe after I came out. My blood O2 was down around 90% for a while...and probably lower for a time, (the alarm went off in my room).

I've found that I can eat more broth now and that'll fill me up for a bit, but OtterPops are helping too.

No, I was not groggy. I was very nauseous and constantly throwing up.

  12. Hey, I was banded on October 20th and everything went well except I had some issues with the anesthesia. Other than that, I'm doing fine and trying to rid myself of the gas pains. This day 4 on clear liquids and I am starving. It appears I can't drink enough liquids to keep me full. Any suggestions? Can't wait until I can have yogurt smoothie and soups.

  13. Hi all,

My boyfriend made this soup for me that is out of one of those Grocery Store register isle mini paperbook Quick and Easy crockpot recipe. Well this soup is so easy using Cambells tomato soup cans as a base, and the thickening agent is cream cheese. This soup is so yummy- in my opinion its like restaurant quality with great flavor and texture. I have it in PDF format, so if anyone who like send me a message I will forward the PDF file to you.

    Cheers!

    Tara

    Tara,

Please send me the recipe at sdpatt39@yahoo.com

  14. I will be banded on October 20th. On the 21st day post-op, I will be entering into the solid food phase and also going out of town for work for 2 weeks. I am so nervous about starting my solids away from home. Since I will be in travel status, I will have to eat out at restaurants. Please provide some advice on what to do. Should I just do full liquids an additional 2 wks until I return back home?

  15. Greetings all,

I am flying in on October 19th for surgery on the 20th! WOO HOO! I am so excited. I will be in Europe for 2 weeks prior to the surgery, so I will have to do my pre-op diet the week when I get back pior to surgery. That won't be fun! But it will be worth it. One of my very best friends is going with me for support, so that will be nice.

afterwannabe, I am flying in on Oct. 19th also for surgery on Oct. 20th. I started the pre-op on today and it was a little rough. Look forward to meeting you.
