  1. I am hoping to go for the same procedure in march ( waiting for tax returns!) would love to see pics and hear about your experience- time off, cost, etc. my email is russnmanda@ yahoo.com

    Thanks! Amanda

  2. I am going to have an unfill on sat, I am so tired of not being able to eat anything. I find it odd that I was ok after my last fill for a while, now I have been miserable for at least 2 weeks. I found out that Kaiser in Richmond ( who will say that they will not see Mexico patients ) has a bariatric surgeon on call in the Emergency room. So, if you show up there they have to treat you and call in the Doctor. I will let you know how this goes- I am hoping to just have .4 removed. I am afraid of gaining, as I have been losing steadily, 20lbs in the last month- 50 lbs since my surgery in Feb.!

  3. My girlfriend and I did it last week, and it was fine. We caught the bus at the airport, switched to the trolley downtown, walked over the border and took a cab to the OCC. It was 5$ for an all day bus pass and 5$ for the cab. It took a little longer than we thought- about 2 hours from when we landed to when we arrived for our fills, but 10$ compared to 100$ is definately worth it!!

  4. Definately the best post I have ever read on here! I was banded 2/11, and my friend is getting her band as we speak! I loved reading this board up to the last minute before my surgery, so I recommended it to her. Her experience was much different- a lot of negative posts and complaining- said the forum just "freaked her out". After jumping back on to see what she was talking about, I had to agree. It is so nice to have positive posts that look at the big picture of the journey we are on! I certainly have no regrets, and I doubt she will. I am a big beliver that life is 90% of how we react to the 10% that actually happens to us! Congrats on your success!

  5. Finally I get my first fill. I feel as though I have been eating too much these last couple of days, so I am excited to have my fill. I am however a little scared!

Does it hurt? Will I be sore after? Please share your band fill stories with me......

    Thank you! :-h

I had my first fill last week and it was a piece of cake! In and out in about 10 minutes, just like getting a shot. I am a needle weenie, so I just didn't look. Dr Acosta was great and pushed the needle in really fast so it was a quick ouch! Maybe a little tender to the touch for a day or so, but nothing major. Now I just have to get used to having a lot of restriction, chewing alot and taking smaller bites. I got 2cc's which has been a good amount. You'll do great!

  6. I have always considered myself very fortunate. I have great friends, and a happy marriage! Being overweight always drug me down. I confided in some

friends about getting the Lap Band. They were all for it, so supportive! Well ever since I got banded I feel as though I have lost them. I have only been banded

for 17 days, and they barely talk to me, One of my friends didn't even call me after surgery, her and I have been friends for 11 years, we were there for

eachother for everything.. I have heard about people losing their friends after being banded, but I never thought this would happen to me. It's

making me very depressed! Why do so called friends have to ruin my happiness? Has anyone else dealt with this? I am just confused, and kinda regretting my

band. I love the weight loss, but I miss my friends, and my life before!

    Thanks for reading this!

I have had a few similar problems. Some of my overweight friends assume that all we did together was eat, and since I am not pigging out anymore they don't even call. My brother, who is also heavy, was very against the surgery from the start. He calls and talks only about all the things I can't have and how much that really sucks. The other night he even brought over brownies! I see this as jealousy, and just ignore it. I think it is good to find out who your real friends are, and surround yourself with people who support your new healthier lifestyle!

  7. Sonogirl--

I will be at OCC two days later. I think we had our band placed around the same time....2-10-09..? I am hangin between 9-10 lbs and the scale hasn't moved hardly...

I am a bit frusterated that I am not looseing more, I am definatly NOT hungry which I love...I just want to be skinnyagain!

    Kim

I hear ya girl! Ya, I was banded 2/11. Sounds like most everyone is in that 10-20 lb range, so now I don't feel so bad. It just seems like with how little I am eating the pounds should be flying off! I guess I need to bump up the exercise- I am pretty good at making excuses not to!

  8. Hey Ann- It's Amanda- we rode to the Occ together when I had my surgery and you had your fill- I am bummed to hear your fill wasn't terrific- How much did he put in? Did Dr. Ortiz do it? Did you feel like you had restriction before you left? I am just starting to get hungry again, still dealing with mental hunger vs physical. I'm down another 10lbs since surgery, but want to lose 10 more before my fill on March 24. I am going back to OCC, even though there is a Fill Center USA only 30 min away. Has anyone done both that can compare?

  9. I am going for my first fill in March. Did you guys use their shuttle to and from the airport? Did you have any major delays? Just debating on how I want to do this. I was also curious if I got there early if they would see me early. My flight comes in at 9:30, and my appt. isn't untill 1:30. Just curious- I have seen some posts about delays and problems.

  10. I'm getting banded in two days, and wondering what kind of vitamins and supplements and medications I should be stocking up on. Does anyone know if there is a list somewhere of what we can take after we are banded. Also do they send you home with pain meds? Or do you get a RX to fill when you get home? Thanks for oyur help.

I was just banded on the 11th. They gave me some samples of a chewable vitamin, and some pain pills that dissolve under your tongue. Both were just a few days worth, but I did not need any more pain meds. I just bought a chewable multivitamin at GNC, it wasn't too expensive. Good luck with everything, I thought it was a piece of cake!!

  11. Amanda,

Hopefully we'll catch one another in the lobby before you are checked in and whisked to the back. I'll definitely look for you. However, if you are having your surgery early in the AM... I will miss you. I should be at the OCC around noon'ish.

    Kristy

ended up getting banded on Wed! Everything went great, made some great friends, and I am ready to take this journey!! Thanx for everyone's support!

  12. Kristy- I leave in the morning for Tijuana! I am scheduled to have my surgery on thursday so I am sure we will meet! I am so excited, nervous, anxious etc. I have never left my baby overnight, and my mom will have all 6 of my kids for 3 days! I thank god for this forum- it is so comforting to feel like you have so many friends on this journey with you! Look for me at the OCC! Amanda

  13. San Diego has so much to see and do- I would just walk around and check things out! Seaport village is a touristy area not far from the airport, then there is old town, the gaslamp district and a huge mall downtown ( Horton Plaza?) Also lots of beautiful beaches. You may want to go over the bridge to Coronado. The Hotel Del Coronado is a beautiful historical landmark with a nice restaurant and shops near by. I will be at the OCC on the 11th so maybe we'll meet! Amanda
