  1. :D I'm scheduled for my first fill on June 8th also

I'm sorry I didn't reply earlier, I'm just now seeing your post. I was at OCC around 11:45, were you there around that time? Maybe I saw you in waiting room. My first fill went great and now I have 1.2cc in my band and looking forward to food tomorrow and hopefully some restriction. How did your fill go?

  2. Hi all.. I came down last nite and did preop work and just had surgery today. Ive been out for about an hour now and everything is as good as you hear...fantastic. The staff and Dr Ortiz and all the teaching that they do do baby that band. I plan to stay tonight and go home tomorrow since i live local. Will check in later gotta go drink some juice.

  3. I have been doing great not much discomfort ..just where port is ...hard to sleep on that side still tender. I too am back at work and doing ok. Today i noticed is the firts day I haven't lost weight so I guess the two pounds per day is over.. It did seem too good to be true... I hope to continue to lose at least a pound or two a week up until the lst fill. I will go back first part of June .. Are you going back to Occ for your list fill? If area is still affected by H1M1 virus I might get fill in Boise at the the new fill usa center. I guess I'll make up my mind by about the 20th of May .. I am not fill the restriction like I did in the beginning so I'm guess the swelling is going down. My goal is to have at least 25 pounds off by first fill. Keep in touch

I'm glad to hear you haven't had much discomfort, same here. I would describe it more like tenderness and it has not been bad at all. I'm definitely going back to OCC for my fill and I live so close that I'll drive there. Let me know what you decide. Can you believe we will be done with this liquid diet in a few days. I've thought a lot about my first meal that I'll have on Monday, but to tell you the truth I'm nervous about eating solid food.

  4. HI there I also was banded on the 20th. How are you doing we spoke and I was the one from Idaho... I have lost 16 pounds as of this morning,, I would love to hear from you..

    Netsy,

It's so good to hear from you. Congratulations on the 16lbs, that is great! I have been doing good so far. Not much pain just gas discomfort since I started the creamy soups. I have to admit my first night back to work was last Monday and that was hard. We were so busy at the hospital that night and I felt weak and my head was kind of cloudy but I toughed it out. How have you been? How did you do since you left the OCC just a few hours after surgery? It's so nice to hear from another bandster who had surgery on the same day!

  5. No US doctor will consider me b/c my BMI is a 32. Yet I am classified as "obese" and have struggled with my weight my ENTIRE life! I've always been "healthy", "big-boned", "full-figured"...etc. blah, blah, blah... And then I read stories of people who have lost the weight by just doing a weight loss program. (Which I've tried, but never been truly successful...)

So here I am terrified at the thought of traveling to Mexico to have this done. I realize that there are others who may feel that taking this step is justified b/c they have more to loose and keep off. Am I justified in wanting to go through such drastic measures to rid myself of 70 lbs??? Are there others out there who have done this in my same position???

I am a mother of 3 with a husband (who has not yet been told that this is what his wife wants to do!) But I know that I have tried other alternatives in the past without success. I don't want to look back a few years from now regretting that I didn't have to guts to move forward and just do it. I am ready to do something for MYSELF instead of others. But again, 70 lbs.???? I'm really conflicted...

I was just banded on 4/20/09 and my experience has been great. When I first started planning my surgery I was really concerned about coming to TJ, but as I read posts here from other bandsters the nervousness went away. I've been a nurse for 13 years and everything at the OCC exceeded my expectations, from the cleanliness, organization and the service I received from each staff member. I'm so glad I choose to come to the OCC, I really was treated fabulously!! I even drove here from Orange County, CA with my sister and that was not bad. Today after getting released from the OCC, we went walking around the Lucerna hotel and bought some juice at the convenience store and went to the nearby pharmacy to buy some more of the pain med (Supradol) they gave me to take home. They only give you enough for 2 days and I wanted to have extra just in case. It was really nice going for a walk and we never felt unsafe. I also have to add I was pleased with my decision of staying at the Lucerna, the service has been very good.

  6. I am doing Diet #2. I do great during the day. Don't feel hunger pangs at all. When I get home, I do feel a bit more hunger. I eat a small and sensable meal. I do have one hang up, ever since I was a small girl I would get up and eat durign the night. I today is day 4, and I have eaten 2 nights. I feel very down hearted about it and have made plans to wake my husband when I get up to help put a safe guard in place. Given the importance of this, and what it means I want to walk the line and do right by the instructions. I think my major hang up at night is I am not awake all the way, which makes it hard to have reason. So far I am down 4 lbs. Yay!

What diet are you following? Where are you getting hung up. Is it mental or more physical hunger?

Good job on the 4 lbs!!

I'm also doing diet #2 and I'm still experimenting with protein drinks. I work long hours at night and in the past I ate alot during my shift to keep me going, so thats been a big adjustment. I've been having the fiber choice chewables twice a day and the protein water and I feel that has helped because I dont feel physical hunger, its more mental for me.

  7. Please feel free to discribe what was a breeze and what was the hardest time to get through.

I have not been banded yet. Interested in seeing if there is a common theme or if everyone is different.

I'm getting banded on 04/20 at the OCC and on day 3 of preop, and I have to admit the preop phase has been hard. I just keep reminding myself that I have to do this the right way and be honest with myself to succed in this journey. No more excuses for me!! Which preop diet are you following?

  8. Hey Everyone,

I am happy and proud to say that I am on day 19 Post Op and day 19 of my 21 day liquid diet. I am finding it really easy and not bad at all. I am also so happy I have lost 21lbs since surgery and 58lbs total since start of pre op. Wow!! I can not beleive that I have done it all in less then 2 months.

I am going to go for my fill at the end of March and am excited for that.

Has anyone done really well in the first 21 days and then stalled when you went to solid foods??

I wanted to congratulate you on your awesome progress!! I've just scheduled my surgery and I'm a little nervous about losing the required amount of weight. What did you do for your preop (diet/exercise routine) that gave you such great results before the band? Any advice or suggestions are appreciated.
