Hello everyone, I am a new user and my surgery is scheduled for July 29th. I am excited, nervous and worried. I have read alot of your post for the past hour or so. Some of them scare the -------- out of me and some of them make me hopeful that something may finally work. I am so tired of the weight battle. I will fly into San Diego on the 28th with the procedure on the 29th and fly home on the 31st.

I need info on your experiences with Dr. Ortiz and Mexico. Pre-op diet tips, post-of diet tips and any other information that you can give me.

Congratulation on all of your successes! I hope very soon in the future to be blogging about my up and down days.

    Thanks

I was banded at the OCC on the 22 of May. I'm waiting for my passport so I can go back for my fill this month. Dr. Ortiz and his staff are awesome, couldn't ask for a better team.

My brother was banded here in San Diego, he came with me and was totally jelouse as to how it was for me. I also went with him for a support meeting here , I got more out of the people waiting for there fills and folks waiting for surgery and the staff at OCC.

I wish you the best of luck you will be very happy with your choice, I am with mine and would do it again if I had to.

    Keep in touch,

    ~Linda

  2. Hi - I got 2 days on you... Ohhhhhhh Nooooooo --- I have Not picked, rubbed or scratched them, I remember the cute shortish Young doctor saying , Not to full emerge in water & to just let the shower hit them, But being that I was under the influence (LOL) I was hoping I didn’t miss something.....

When I posted I had just came out of the shower, Tho the stuff if 3/4's gone I think the wetness I saw was most likely from just coming out of the shower & it is a bit opened

I just checked the port incision and it looks like it’s drying out even a little scab has formed - I think I’ll just hit my doctors Monday morning, for peace of mind......

OCC is great when you call them, so I just may give them a shout

    Thanks

Glad to hear that it is doing better than you first thought.

  3. I think I may be having a little redness with my port incision, the stuff that Doc O put on is just about gone. It started about 2 days ago with today being the thrid day that I noticed the stuff coming off. It is still slightly opened & I can see a little clear wettness - BUT it's NOT ozzing- it just doesn't look like the smaller ones. They look great closed and the stuff is still on, Should I be rubbing it off?

Can a few people explain to me what theirs looks like....

Anyone out there I'm opened to your thoughts

    Hello Shiney,

One of the things Dr. O said to me was not to pick at or rub off the adhesive stuff on my incision sites or scratch at them.

I would call the OCC or e-mail them with any concerns. Maybe your Doc at home could give you a prescription for some Bactroban, it’s an antibiotic ointment. We use it in our wound clinic good stuff.

My sites all look great, except for the nasty bruise around the one where they gave the heparin shot. I was banded on the 22nd of this month.

I hope this helps a little,

    ~Linda

  4. Hey everyone, :-h

Hope all is well with everyone!

I see Deanna you got banded early good going. =D> I’m getting all packed tonight my brother and I will head out @ 6:30 am to meet our ride at the airport and should be at the OCC around 8ish. They said I will have my pre-op test when I get there, I don’t know what time I will get banded. Hopefully I will get to still meet everyone before you leave.

Good news I was so worried about losing 3 more pounds for my 5%, I was able to drop that and 6 more as of this morning. It wasn’t easy, so much temptation at work with in-service lunches this week. My protein drink tasted sooooo good! Ya right! I knew that the new me was just waiting to break free!

    See you tomorrow,

    ~Linda

  5. (((((((((((((((((((((Linda)))))))))))))))))

A juice toast is a great idea! I look forward to it.

    Hello Robbyn,

Well in the am we will be at 4 days and a wake up to our new life! :D As of this morning I am down 2 more pounds. Yippee One more for the 5% loss.

I should be down after all I only had 665 calories yesterday! Same today not to bad though (YET) I am taking the Metamucil capsules 2 x a day. I wonder if we can take them for our 21 days of liquids only? I’m not sure if they are what is holding my hunger at bay or if it’s my total desire to a healthier and thinner me!?

The hard part will be tomorrow at work! I will take my shake and a green salad and take a walk at lunch. There is tons of food in our break room. Our patients bless their hearts are always bringing us goodies. I have to be strong! Only have to get past the next 4 days, if I get the hunger pangs I can always make some peppermint tea that helps curb the hunger pain for a while.

How are you doing on your pre-op diet?

Can’t wait to met you and Deanna and share a juice toast together too our future!

As always your future banded friend,

    ~Linda

  6. I am so happy to meet you. My name is Deanna Miller. I will also be banded on May 22 and will be staying at the Marriott. I live in Southern Ca, so they will be picking me up at the Mexicoach at 10am on May 21. Then off to pre-op and hotel. I am getting so excited. Less than a week until I start my new adventure!

    Hello Deanna,

    So our countdown begins! :D

Small world, I live in Southern CA also (Poway). I will be meeting my ride at the airport to be taken across to the OCC on the 22nd @ 7:30 am for all my pre-op stuff and banded in the same day.

Not a good day for dropping #'s today I gained a pound back, so I need to drop 3 pounds by Friday. I hope that it won't keep me from being banded if I fail to lose 3 pounds this week! :lb12: I hope it’s just fluid.

I’m looking forward to meeting you as well. The Mexicoach is that a taxi service or are they connected to the OCC also? I have seen some mention on here. Is this who we contact for our fills to cross over? I haven't been to TJ since the 80's. It was way different then. I was much younger and fearless.

    Keep in touch,

    ~Linda

  7. (((((((((((((((((((((((Linda)))))))))))))))))))))))

I'm staying at the Marriott too! And my surgery is the 22nd too! Our stories are very similar. My heighest weight is 294 and my lowest weight in the past 12 months is 212. I started to pile it back on after my mother died and when I hit 259 I called Dr. Ortiz. I'm at 244 right now. I'm hoping to be about 239 on surgery day.

I look forward to meeting you. I'm sure we have a lot to talk about.

    xo

    Awesome,

I'm looking forward to meeting you also. We can make a juice toast to our new band and our new life! =D>

    ~Linda

  8. Hi-

Just got to let ya know it's

    Bada bing bada boom

    LOL

    [/quot]

Sorry we will miss each other. Are you going to the OCC for your fills?

What can I say, never claimed to be the best speller! :D Plus I take a huge chance of getting caught when I write a mini novel! LOL I’m just so excited I could shout it to the world! ><img src=<' />

  9. Hello to all, :-h

My name is Linda and I am so excited my band date is May 22, 2009. I and my family will be picked up @ San Diego airport at 7:30 am and the adventure and new life begins. I will stay one night at the Marriot Hotel if all goes well I head home on the 23rd.

My brother had his done here on state side in Feb; he is doing an awesome job. He has lost 50 lbs already I’m so happy and proud of him.

I have wanted this for a very long time, never dreamed of going to TJ. After surfing around on this forum and the one my brother is on. I made contact with the OCC to get more info and vada boom vada bing I’m on my way. I was going for a June/July banding, there was a cancellation for the 22 and I’m in!

With all the money I have spent on diets just hoping for the miracle to happen. I could have had this done several times over. I’m a pro at losing weight its keeping it off that’s the trick, plus I always seem to pick up a couple extra pounds on the way back up by 10 plus what I have dropped.

My highest weight is 265 in late 2003, lost 75 lbs on the Adkins diet, thought I found the magic not true once I started to introduce carb’s I started back up the scale. By this past Dec I was up to 240+ and climbing. Then my daughter announced her wedding plans and I was to give her away I was totally ashamed of my appearance and felt like crap, so I tried the Adkins once again, wasn’t working as well as before I have totally slowed my metabolism down with all the diets I’m sure. I managed to get down to 220 in time for the April wedding, but struggling to keep it off.

I have been eating very light the past couple weeks to jump start my 5% loss very hard but down to 211, 2 more pounds to reach my 5%. I will start pre-op diet tomorrow to make sure I do it and keep it off. The nine I have lost as of today that is has been up and down the past couple weeks.

Sorry guys I was just going to introduce myself…! I just keep going on and on I’m just so excited and this is only my second attempt to reply on of this forum.

I must say it feels good to write to people who truly understand and can relate.

I wish all the best to everyone. Maybe one day ours paths may cross.

One of your soon to be banded friends,

    ~Linda

PS… I wonder :-? what it will feel like to be under 190. I only know 190 for a nanno minute! I’m having trouble seeing it less than that!

  10. I will be the first to post my May surgery date!

My surgery will be on May 22, 2009 at the OCC. I'm so excited.

    Hello Robbyn

Let me introduce myself, my name is Linda and I live in Poway CA. I'm in the works for a new me. I have finally made the choice after a year or more yo-yoing back in forth as to getting the band.

After I seen my brother drop 50 this past 2 to 3 months, I'm in. I'm sure I won’t loss as fast as he has after all men seem to have all the luck in weight loss. I am scheduled on the 22nd of May! :P I'm so excited and scared to death at the same time. ><' :lb12:

More excited I must say!!! Maybe our paths will cross at the OCC.

    May our dreams come true,

    Linda
