had a non scale victory today. i love boots, but i have never found a pair of boots that i both liked and could wear. i am uncomfortable wearing heals because i am very self-conscious about my height. it is hard to find fashionable flat or low heal boots. and on the rare occations that i have found a pair of flat boots that i liked, i have never been able to find a pair that fit. usually the sizes stop at a size 9 (i wear a 10). so i usually don't even get a chance to try any on.
on the even more rare occations that i have found a pair of flat boots i like, in a size 10, they have never closed over my calves. even last february (7&1/2 mths after being banded; and 60lbs down) i still couldn't find boots that would fit over my calves. several bandsters have posted that their feet had shrunk a size along with the rest of their body. unfortunately, that hasn't been my experience.
today i was shopping and saw a pair of flat boots, on sale, and available in a size 10. so i decided to try them on---and they fit!!!! i actually got to try on THREE different pairs of boots. and they all fit. after years of searching for just one pair of flat boots, i actually got to chose among several.
it was a very happy victory.
happy halloween to everyone.
What a great accomplishment, especially since boots are so cute and in fashion.

I am only at 16 pounds, but finally last week I was able to pull out some older clothes that used to fit and wore them. People told me I look great, but never mentioned weight. I figured they probably can't tell if it's the new attitude, new clothes or weight.

It all went down hill after my second child. I was working full time, juggling two kids close in age (almost twins) and eating to deal with stress rather than exercise.
The band is helping me get back on the right track, although it was a slow start, it is finally beginning to do its thing.

I was banded on a Friday and returned on Monday. I brought a liquid tylenol and had to use it several times. I found it hard to get up and down from my desk all day and begged people not to make me laugh, but other than that, it was fine. If your job has you on your feet all day, I do not recommend it.

Great news about the surgery!!! Let the liquids begin.
I went down alone for my surgery and it was fine. I just brought several books and my laptop. It was like a mini vacation with a quick stop at the OCC.

Thanks everyone. I go in for my third fill today and I look forward to it. Something is working though because the last few days I had a snack at 5pm everyday and never felt hungry for dinner. It helped lower the scale 2 pounds.

I am getting frustrated and I don't know if it is because I have the Realize band or a doctor who is too nervous to give me a "Real fill". Here's what's happening:
I was banded on July 3rd with Dr. Ortiz 9cc REalize band.
Had my first fill August 16 with a local doctor. He does use fluoro and has a great rep, so I figured he would be able to give me good restriction. 5cc's later, nothing. No restriction, no problem with any type a food. I wasn't too worried, so I made an appointment for my second fill.
Second fill is another 2cc's. Again, nothing. I can still eat pretty close to the my pre surgery portion sizes. This tells me my doctor is either very conservative on my fills or my band has a leak
Doesn't 5cc's seem like a small amount? It has been two months since my surgery and I have only lost 12 pounds (which was all in my liquid diet stage). I don't know whether to cry or go postal on my doctor until he really fills me up.
Help. Anyone else have a Realize band?
P.S. My husband is starting to doubt this whole "investment" too. I didn't have insurance.

Hi all,
I have been using the Buried Treasures Liquid Prenatal vitamin since January. I love it and wish I had been using since I got the lapband. I buy it from www.iherb.com.
Thanks for the tip. I have noticed my hair doesn't grow as fast and it is a little dull. I have been looking for a multivitamin that will help with that. Maybe a prenatal vitamin will do the trick considering my hair was at it's best while I was pregnant.

Are fills painful? I hate needles and I get tense when they are inserted. What can I expect?
My first fill is Thursday August 13th

I had my Surgery on the July 3rd and I am back at work today. I am a little sore around the port site but I feel great. good luck to you all...
Hi Dawn,
Remember me? We walked the halls of the OCC after surgery. I went back to work yesterday too. Still sore, but doing well. How's the progress? I have lost 8 pounds!! I can't wait for a yogurt.
What do you seem to crave?

Ever since I can remember I needed a daily chocolate fix. I go for the sugar free chocolate jello pudding. So yummy.
