I would like some input on safety in Tijuana. In the last 12 hours I have heard 2 major news stories on abduction and murder of Americans who were traveling there. I want to come but i want to be safe.

Thanks a ton! Sounds great!

I'll be coming to OCC for surgery this coming week. I don't want to venture out into Tijuana by myself. I'll be staying at the Marriott.
Is there a place to eat (before I start fasting prior to surgery) next to OCC or the hotel?
And, more importantly, is there a place very close by to pick up broth and juice for the clear liquids the 2 days after surgery while I'll still be in MX?
Thanks!

YOur information from the OCC should have given you some suggestions.
Here are some others:
Tortilla soup . This is amazing and you will love it. You can find it under our recipe section
milk
cream soups
V8
yogurt
Anything that does not have chunks in it is good.
Try not to eat stuff full of sugar
I drank slim fast optimun . The Royal fudge flavor. Could have lived on that and tortilla soup
Thank you. Sounds like I need to visit that recipe section! Congrats on your great success of losing so much! I'll have to look through the info from OCC better and see what I find. Knowing now that it is basically any liquid that does not have substance helps I guess I have been afraid that I will come home from Mexico and feel like I have nothing to eat and in that "state" make bad choices. I work well from lists so I will start gathering ideas and writing them down so i can refer to that when I get home. I have a list of clear liquids for that first week.. and I'll have that stuff here when I get home. I am a little freaked about how I will get what I need (broth, juice, etc) for the first two days after surgery, while I am in Tijuana... hopefully there is some store very close to the hotel or to OCC where I can pick a few things up to keep in the hotel after surgery.

Hello, I am scheduled for surgery on the 8th w/Dr. Ortiz. I wonder if you all could help me with a list of "full liquids" and what that means.
I need to get some things stocked in the house and on lists, so that I can stay on track! Please help. Thanks!

After the 21 days I gained some of mine back. Once I was back on solids it's like my body held on to every calorie even though I wasn't eating a ton. Don't let it get you down if you do. I only gained a few of it back and my NP was impressed. She told me many folks gain it all back.
Once you get a couple fills in you it will help, but you have just entered what we all call "bandster hell" where you can still eat too much. Utilize benefiber and fiber choice and really get those proteins in - helps a lot!
Good luck!
This is my first reply on this forum so I hope I am doing it right I am impressed w/your loss and wanted to say congrats! I have about 70 lbs to lose.. my surgery is scheduled w/Dr ORtiz for next week. Did you go to Dr Ortiz? I am unclear on what *exactly* I am supposed to eat/drink for the first 21 days and I want to do it right (except that I am pretty sure I will have 1 daily black coffee if I can tolerate it...b/c I am afraid my brain will explode and my digestion will paralyze otherwise!). At any rate, for the first week... broth.. anything else? Second week.. what is a "full liquid".. examples? And third week.. is it full liquids plus yogurt, or other soft things too? It would be fabulous if there was some list that I could just look at. Another question I have is about exercise... how soon can I walk hard (hills) and then start running? Will I damage the band if I am doing stomach crunches and working out hard? I would love it if someone could help me w/these questions. thanks. -A
Fiber during post-op

Hi, I had my surgery the day after you. I asked Dr. Miranda 2 days ago about this fiber thing and she said no Benefiber.
She suggested I drink prune juice or take a glycerin suppository. The problem went away on its own, thankfully, and I think during this liquid phase I will just have to count on a bowel movement every few days instead of once a day.
Hope that helps. I think they have changed the recommendations for post-op since some people have had their surgeries.
