  1. It's not exactly gym quality, but I walked all over 6flags on Saturday. I'm soo sore today! I think I found the only kiosk that offered salads (yay me!). After a long day like that I might be convinced that i can do some of the local walk events. I've never really looked into it, but my 2 sister in laws are doing a 1/2 marathon soon. They seem to really love it.

    How's everyone else doing?

  2. It was awesome to get the daily report via email subscription yesterday and see all of the logins! What an encouragement. However, I had a real lousy day and didn't get a workout in.

... BUT I had a very crappy morning and needed to burn off some anger. So I went running at lunch time. It was my best run yet. I guess anger helps. :)

WOW! That totally made me laugh! What a great way to deal with it. I usually clean the house and take it all out on germs.

  3. I've not been exercising this week. I'm just really tired. While I know that it is a vicious circle - too tired to exercise which makes you even more tired because exercise creates energy - I don't know how to get myself out of this funk!

Well it looks like everyone fell off the bandwagon with this post...so I'll talk to myself...

    Hey Mandy-

A family member had surgery and I've been busy helping out, so I'm a little scattered. I've been following this topic through the subscription I set up, but forgot to post to your last reply. I think I actually didn't know what to say to encourage you. It is super lame that your sister and yours weight loss don't match, but if you're like me the reason you took such a drastic measure is because you had a more difficult time than others losing weight?

Personally, I have bipolar disorder and this last episode lasted about 10 weeks. Usually they last about 3 weeks and I gain 10 lbs. With the lap band and this extended episode I only gained 6 lbs but have been able to drop almost all of it within a week. This is why I opted for the band. I hoped it would slow the weight gain during bad times and help me get back to where I was quicker. It's good to feel those collar bones again. Now that I'm on the good side I need to get my butt in gear.

Also, I know of a local here that had the band 3+ years ago and dropped immediately like we all did but didn't get past that because she became addicted to ice cream. However she didn't gain it back. About 6 months ago she buckled down and is almost to goal. That is what I love about the band. We don't regain what we've lost and if we fall off we can always get back on.

If you're exercising you're doing the right thing. Your body may just be adjusting.

    Hi Michele!

So, it's been a week and a half. How's everything else going besides the exercise? Have you lost since the surgery?

  4. Welcome BrownEyedGirl! Can we call you by something shorter? I did walking today also, but I did better than my 12yr old kid and his beagle! My legs are complaining but it's good. I didn't realize how neglected my body has been. We walked 1/2 hr uphill this morning and 2 five minute walks this evening. It's a start. :D What do you mean by "flapping around"?

Welcome Michele! If the OCC team is banding you, you should recover way quick! I had no downtime. I don't think you'll need to wait until tuesday to start walking for exercise unless your dizzy or tired. However, I think you have to wait for the surgery glue to wear off before you go swimming. Quick hint: don't try to peel or rub it off even around the edges. I gave myself a nasty rub burn that has discolored due to my impatience. Let the glue do it's thing.

Hi Mandy! Thanks for following up on that message looking for a buddy, look at all the support we got in one day! WOO HOO! So are you noticing any body changes with her workout? I don't know anything about her. What time of day are you able to carve out for this on a regular basis? I used to do all my exercise before coffee but my husband only likes to work out in afternoon. I think that is what originally threw me off track, but 15 years later I don't think it counts as an excuse anymore. :P

  5. My goal is to have better stamina and coordination. It goes without saying that we are all here to lose weight, and the lap band should be helping us with that goal, but I've found its made me a little bit lazy. I see the scale move in the right direction and I have a little less motivation to push myself. So I am glad to have someone to be accountable to. There are 2 others that I know will be joining us, so please jump in.

I'm going to be walking and the learn salsa dance dvds.

  6. This is a brand new workout group forming. Take moment to do a little intro about your fitness goals and what you think you'll try to achieve it.

You need to commit to logging in each day before bed to log your exercise for the day. I've done this before and was finding myself about to climb into bed for the night, then jumping on the treadmill in my PJ's just so I had something to log in for that day.

Even if you fall off track, we are here to get you going again. Bookmark this topic and log in every day even if you didn't exercise!

Let's use "peer pressure" for something more useful.
