  1. Thanks Beliieve09,

It's good to hear things are getting better for you. I've planned to stay at Lucerna since that has been the recommendation of most on this site. How long are you staying in TJ?

  2. I'm right behind you with surgery and we are about the same weight. please keep us posted on your progress.

  3. Haven't had surgery but will in a short while. I have a lower bmi then recommended and honestly I'm doing it now because I see the writing on the wall. I think it makes more sense to do it at a lower bmi (if you can) because although I may not be considered morbidly obese I am obese I think that just because diabetes and high blood pressure haven't set in yet (im 32) they will eventually and I'd really like to avoid this if possible.
  4. Sue thanks for taking the time to post this. When everyones focus is so much on weight loss it's good to hear that some weight loss is not healthy and to make sure to pay close attention to our bodies.
  5. im still pre-op but I was really worrying about me not having the self control either. It really helped me to watch some of the videos on you tube that dr.ortiz posted regarding why were are on a 21 day liquid diet and how to progress through this diet, how mentally to get through it. You should check out the videos and hopefully can regain your center and get back on track. I'm on my pre-op diet and haven't been doing very good at all myself. I had a post that was discussing how to stay on pre-op and some offered some good advice - like chewing gum (dont know if you can do this after the band). try to get out of your regular routine for the last bit of your liquid phase. I know you say you're husband isn't supportive, but will he take over cooking the meals until you're off liquids?
  6. down 1 lb from starting my pre-op diet a day ago. Next week should be better.
  7. thanks
  8. Hope you all don't mind. I'm in my 2 weeks pre-op phase and hoping posting with you will give me a bit more accountability than I've had. Will also get me in line to continue to post after surgery. B - Coffee, 1tbs Hazelnut Creamer B - Light Muscle Milk protein shake L - Light Muscle Milk protein shake D - 355 cal. so far
  9. looks like Kimmy had some good tips, but I can tell you that liposuction will not do anything for the skin. I had lipo suction when I was 20 years old (I was about 150lbs 5'7" at the time) and honestly - Liposuction is the lamest plastic surgery procedure there is. It did nothing for my body except when I ended up gaining weight (i'm now 209) I gained it in more random places. Like my arms are now super extra fat - pretty much out of proportion with my body. Honestly if you're thinking about plastic surgery to remove the skin a thigh lift seems like the way to go to remove excess skin. Even though you're young you still deserve to have the body that you want. you took measures with losing weight so now you deserve to be a little vain and take care of any other issues that are bothering you. I say if you want it - go for it.

    57 lb. lost!

wow you look great. love the shoes too!
  11. Hi Briangie, I can totally relate to what you're saying - the heavier I've gotten the more and more I try to fade into the background of life and really stop living. I don't want that life anymore either and I know the band will be a great tool to help me find my hope. I used to go to the gym all the time. I'm not going to say I loved it because i've never been a huge work out fan - but there is a difference between going when you're overweight and going when you're average weight. Most people that are already fit understand the dedication it takes to work out and so they aren't looking at you like "what are you doing here" But i'm still very self conscious about going. I hate how the cardio equipment is in rows - i feel like when I'm on the treadmill or eliptical by bootie is shaking all over the place and the people behind me are grossed out. lol......I laugh about it now - but it's embarassing and it's stopped me from working out the way i should be.
  12. I'm also excited and nervous at the same time. I just spent last night watching some of the you tube videos by dr. ortiz. He explained a lot of things like why we have to stay on liquids, how to mentally prepare etc.... He seems very committed to overweight people and helping them to gain control of their lives. I haven't heard of anyone around my surgery date but when I made the appointment Lori said that I took the final slot. Not sure what that means because I haven't heard of anyone else on this forum that has my same surgery date. Hopefully we'll both find someone soon. It would be comforting.
  13. sorry for taking so long to respond. I'm new on this site so still getting used to it. As for telling anyone, it feels just like an added headache that I don't need in my life right now. I've found in the past when I have lost weight that people in general really aren't that supportive and often times try and sabotage you (of course subconsciously they do this and not intentionally. My fiance has been so supportive and although my bmi is not as high as some on this forum I can see the writing on the wall and the majority of the women in my family are very obese - I want to gain control now and hopefully the band will help me with my goal. Good luck on your surgery. mine is in 13 days
  14. Not only do you look amazing I love the life and confidence in your eyes. What a wonderful inspiration for all of us. Thanks for posting!
  15. how is your hunger pain? any at all? or is it just getting used to not eating whatever and whenever?
  16. yea this is the way I need to go.
  17. Womans sizes are even 2,4,6,8,10,12,14 etc... Junior Miss sizes are odd 5,7,9,11,13 etc. If you went from a size 2 to 4 that's considered one size up in womans clothing you kind of have to compare apples to apples - Misses clothing is cut differently and isn't cut as wide in the hips and thigh area, hence someone may be able to wear a 7 in misses but can fit a size 4 womans. Womans size clothing are meant for a womans body. These departments are usually in different areas of a clothing store. Junior Misses are usually the younger, or hipper clothes.
  18. Great site to see! What a wonderful accomplishment. Congratulations
  19. Thanks Jill! These are just the posts and responses that I needed to read right now. you guys are all right on and knowing you've all been there before certainly helps a lot. Bianca
  20. Thanks Kristi, I can relate. I also take classes online on top of working from home, and being a mom so most of my time has been spent sitting at the computer for the past 4 years. I'm going to do the gum and water thing for sure. I know I don't get enough water so hopefully that will do the trick and keep me going without thinking about food so much. thanks for your post it's encouraging and that's definitely what I need to get past this. -Bianca
  21. Thanks so much you guys. I really appreciate the straight shooters! I also have a son that is 8 and before having him I never ever had some of the types of food I now keep in the house. I'm going to do what you said about bagging things up separately for his lunch - I think that's a great idea. Also the whole liver thing - I never thought of it that way at all......which is a really great point. I always think more about the physical aspects without thinking about what I'm actually doing to the inside of my body and my organs. I'm going to start tomorrow going back to the gym for at least a little walk or eliptical and recommit to doing this the right way. I'm not trying to spend money just to fail and cause problems for myself. I'm so glad you are doing well (although you're sick) i hope you get better soon and keep us posted on your progress. The ones coming right after you certainly appreciate it! Like me!
  22. I feel terrible. I'm only 3 weeks until my surgery and I've gained 4 lbs - which is a total of 9 lbs since I decided to get the lap band. I don't know if i'm eating out of being nervous, or scared that I'm about to lose my best friend (food) or what. Anyone have any suggestions for getting over this mental hump???? I work from home so I pretty much always have access to food which really sucks. I'm so disappointed in myself and just reminds me of why I'm getting the band to begin with.
  23. Thanks so much for your comment. i really meant a lot. I've been going backwards right now eating like crazy knowing that my surgery is fast approaching. i've completely thrown the pre-op diet out the window and I need to get my self inline.

any suggestions on mentally preparing for this change? I'm afraid if I can't do it pre-op it's going to be so hard after surgery ...

  24. congratulations! thanks for posting on your progress. glad to hear everything went good.
  25. Unfortunately, I have a fairly unsupportive family as well and have learned from the past that I'd rather not deal with their negative attitudes about decisions that I make. So for this lapband that I will have done on 3/15 I've decided not to tell them. Of course they will all notice my weight loss and change of eating habits, and I may end up telling them in the future - but with the stress of going into surgery and also leaving my son here with his father while I have it done - I didn't' need the added stress of their comments as well. I read a blog from another lap band patient that had only told her husband that she was having the surgery and no one else. She said it was so nice to not have to deal with all of the comments and questions that people have about it. I feel the same way at this point in my life i don't need other peoples approval about decisions that I make. Hopefully, things in your family with your sister will change, but really, it's situations like this that end up teaching us to live our own lives and not look for approval or support from those that we need it from the most. It's kinda sad - but reality. Good luck on your surgery! If you feel that you've made the right decision for you and your family then that's all that matters.
