  1. Hi Fellow Banders! I was banded almost a year ago and I'm doing great! My concern is with my sister...she was banded about 2 years ago. She's facing colon surgery tomorrow and was told she would most likely have a Nasogastric tube down her throat and into her stomach. Has anyone had any experience with this? Does the tube go through her band opening and into her "larger" stomach"? Any help would be appreciated! Prayers would also be wonderful!

  2. Caliband,

Don't be discouraged or too hard on yourself. Losing weight takes time and as they say, the weight doesn't come on overnight, so relax, follow the bandster way of eating, make sure to get in plenty of water and exercise.

Exercise was key for my success, and I learned very early on that if I didn't exercise, I didn't lose.

You can do this, think positive. :)

    Take Care,

    Kristi

  3. Why did I get on the scale today??!!! I have made myself promise to only get on the scale once a week. But nooooooo...the scale sat there on the bathroom floor...begging me to get on. I KNEW if I had not lost any weight, it would BUM me out for the entire day! For the last week, I have eaten healthy (portions still too large though) and increased my exercise. I was sooo sure that I had lost at least a couple of pounds! Crap. I didn't. So I just scheduled by third fill for August 25th. Is this band EVER going to work for me??? Discouraged.

  4. Absolutely fantastic! I have been checking everyday since your surgery - anxiously awaiting your good news! (yes, there was an earlier post from you - just a short one) Sounds like you're doing great and are in good hands. Can hardly wait to see your pics!! Congrats!!! Barbara (from Bakersfield)

  5. I had my first fill on 6/24 - but no restriction. :( It was recommended to wait 5-6 weeks before another fill - but I don't really know why. Anybody out there in bandland know if I can go ahead and get another fill now? Thanks for all the great info!! Barbara

  6. I agree with everything AngieB posted. I am about a month post band - have not had my first fill yet but love it so far. Very little "down time". My husband and I are both RN's and have seen way too many post bypass patients come through the ER/ICU with serious medical problems. Something to keep in mind...gastric bypass is irreversible, the lap band is reversible (although I can't imagine EVER having mine removed!) Yep, totally your decision. Once I made my mind up, I was banded within a month. But if I were you, I wouldn't do ANYTHING until I was 100% sure! Good luck to you!

  7. Good morning everyone! You guys are cracking me up! I've gotten so that I read this forum first thing in the morning. I was banded May 3rd and am on my first week of real food. No PBing yet - don't even feel any restriction. Gee...the things to look forward to! tee hee Everyone have a GREAT day! ps. I just grabbed a baggie out of the cupboard and stuck it in my purse - thanks for the tip!

  8. I'm also wondering about my trip to TJ for my first fill. Has anyone taken the Amtrak to San Diego? And does it go all the way down to the border, where I could just walk across the border and catch a taxi? I LOVE this forum! I'm learning soooo much! Thanks to everyone!
