  1. Wait, you said in your post your banding is 8-16

    Isnt today 8-13!?

Either I'm late or your early!

    Hey Girlie,

I am banded and home. I drove home last night and I fell pretty good. They put the port thru my bellybutton and I do not have a large cut on my stomach. They told me about it when I got there and I decided to go that route. This is something new the dr. Is doing. There are also just 4 four very small holes. I feel like I have done a ton of sit-ups and thats about it. I can't seem to get the yellow stuff off my skin. I sat in a bathtub and I still cannot get it off.

    How are you feeling?

    Love,

    Debbie

  2. HAPPY BAND DAY!

Hope you are having a great day :D

Post and let me know how banding went.

    Thinking of you, Erin

Hi Erin, Hubo in da house!!!! I get banded tomorrow morning 8-16. I love your message. A bit scared and cant sleep. I walk the hotel to see if I could find some friends. i might have seen 1 person but did not approach her. i will let you all know tomorrow how i am doing. 7:00 can not get here soon enough.

    Love

    Debbie

  3. I just scheduled my first fill for August 28th. For those of you who are getting the surgery, it was a positive experience. I have not had any complications and I have already recommended Dr. Ortiz to people. You won't regret this decision!

That is great news Sassy. I am glad you are feeling great. I leave Thursday and get banded on Friday. I will keep you posted.

  4. So I feel pretty good still so far.

I have that feeling like something is stuck in my throat, like mashpotatos or a big pill.

And I dont feel hungry so much as just kinda empty, does that make sense?

I cant believe I have not eaten since Tuesday and all I had then was soup and two rolls at the hotel.

I cant belive it is 4 more days of only clear liquids!

But I can do this, I know I can, I kinda have to now!

I keep finding myself heading towards the kitchen to get something to snack on and then I remember...no more of that.

    Hi Erin,

I am soooo glad you are feeling good. I have been thinking about you and would love to chat. I sent you an email and not sure if you received it? Let me know If you feel like chatting next week. I know you are going to rock.

  5. Put your little worried head at rest, you cannot feel the band around your stomach, unless you are able to palpate it...You cannot feel the port either. It will be a bit sensitive right after surgery, but I cannot feel my port and I sleep on my tummy!

Good luck on your surgery..You won't ever regret it!!!!

    Kim

You look AMAZING!!!! Thank you so much for your message. I have 50 lbs to lose. Not sure what my BMI is but I did not need to go on the liquid diet before. I am more then ready for this. I just hope it all goes smooth.

    Hugs,

    Debbie

  6. youll feel some discomfort only from the port incision. wont notice much on the other ones, and def wont feel the band on your stomach. i read somewhere that pain from that area of the stomach can show up as displaced pain in the shoulder/shoulder blade area. I did not experience that. port discomfort will be most noticable but will be short-lived. dont wear high waisted pants, as that puts pressure on your port incision, esp when you sit. bend over slowly. dont hunch over when sitting at a desk (i know thats an always rule, but youll def feel it once banded). it was about one month before i could sleep on my belly again. in the meanwhile, i slept on my side with a small pillow pressed up against belly. somehow the gentle pressure kept things in place and was the only comfortable way i could sleep.

now i only "feel" my port occasionally, when doing a bend in yoga, or if i lean over a desk or counter. it doesnt hurt, but every so often u can feel its in there. plus i like poking at it.. initially it was buried pretty deep under belly fat but now i can feel it more clearly (as the belly fat goes away).

Thank you so much for your reply. Everyone here has just been AWEDOME. I am looking forward to getting my band. My biggest worry is the port and having it rub me or poke my. I have talk to a few people and they said they really do not notice it. I will keep eveeryone updated one I get down there next week.

    Hugs

    Debbie

  7. ((((((((((((((((((Hugs Debbie)))))))))))))))))))

Congrats on taking the first step, scheduling your surgery and asking some questions about the band to fellow bandsters. I have a blog that went over my personal journey from my decision to get the band, to chosing a surgeon, to surgery to fill and beyond.

I can only speak for myself, but for me, the band is pretty transparant. I have no feeling of it and with exception of the scars, I have no visual exterior cues that shows the band.

I'll be thinking of you next week when you get banded!

  8. Hi Erin,

I hope you are felling okay. It sounds like everything went well?

I cannot thank you enough for your reply. I am so glad you reached out to me. I noticed your weight when you started and we are very close to the same. I have 50 lbs. to lose too. I so wish we were there together. Would love to chat when you feel better. I live in orange county and it would be nice to get our fills together. Please let me know if you are up for a chat.

  9. Thank you so much Debbie for the feedback. I am glad you cannot tell you have a band around your stomach. I am a bit worries about the port. I love to lay on my stomach and I am guessing that I will not be able to do that any more. I only have 50 lbs to lose and I am hoping that they can place the port deep the first time.

  10. This is a question for all you post lap banders. I am getting banded next week and have a few questions.

Does it feel like you have something around your stomach? Not sure if that make any sense but I am sure you all know what I mean.

The other thing that I am worried about is the port. Can you always feel it I side of you?

Anything you can provide me would be great.

    Thank you

    Debbie

  11. You will be in good hands! I had my mom go with me, but if I needed to could have totally done it by myself. You are making a good choice best advice I can give you is to read back as far as you can in these forums and take as many notes as you can. I told very few people but as the weight has come off I have been much more open about it to those who I know will be supportive.

    Good luck!!!

Thank you so much. My biggest concern is the port. Can you feel it and does it bug you? I keep reading all the forums and it hard to tell.

  12. Hi, I am actually going down to TJ tomorrow morning and then having surgery on Wed so I wont be there when you are. But I will reply to this post after and let you know how things go and what to expect.

Everyone here that has gone through this already talks about how OCC was a great support to them, especially the ones who went down alone.

You are doing the right thing for yourself.

I also have held back from telling anyone, except husband and mom of course. I did not want to defend my choice to others before I even get down there. Not too sure what I am going to say after, might keep it private still and just say I am really cutting back on what I eat.

Which is true...they just dont need to know how I am cutting back!

Thank you for responding. I have been thinking about you all day.

That is exactly what I am going to tell people. I am just eating different. I am in southern California and will be driving down to Mexico. I have not told my husband, mother or best friend. I just do not want to have to explain myself to anyone.

Please let me know how it goes. I soooo wish I was there with you this week.

  13. Hi everyone,

I am brand new and have been scheduled for the lap band with dr Ortiz on 8-13. I have not told anyone and going to Mexico all by myself. Would love to find someone who is going to be there with me so we can have each other. would love to tall to anyone who has gone thru it or will be there with me in 2 weeks.
