  1. Hey all!

Has anyone been getting fills through USA fill centers? I went to FL for my first fill and it was a great experience with Kathie and got 5cc's. Now for my second fill I went to MD (Dr. Ulmer?) and it was just HORRIBLE! They didn't have flouro but it is the closest location to where I live so I figured I would give it a shot and failed! She tried for about 10mins straight poking and jabbing me until I had to tell her to stop! Felt like I was getting butchered, no numbing or anything! I ended up leaving without a fill and got SOME not all of my money back! I couldnt bend over for the rest of the day, it felt like my insides were all scraped up! Is that normal after a blind fill? I hope she didn't mess my band/port up! I just scheduled again my 2nd fill but this time I am going to NJ because they are the closest to me that has flouro. Has anyone gone to this location before? How was it and how many CC's do we usually get on our 2nd fill?

    Thanks! :)

  2. Hey all,

I got my first fill 3weeks ago and got 5cc's in my 11cc band. I heard that for the right amount for a fill you should be able to only eat 1/3 of what you used too....well I am definitely not there. I felt some restriction maybe for the 1st couple of days but that's it. How long should we wait before we get another fill? I don't want to risk stretching my pouch or anything, but I am hungry all the TIME! Any recommendations?

  3. I have been eating solids for almost a week now and I feel like I am out of control! I am trying to eat right and portion control and all that but when I am eating its like portion control goes out the window! What is wrong with me!? I got this band to lose weight and hopefully be able to eat less and be smarter about food but I feel like when I am around my friends, etc... I'm slipping right back into the "OLD ME". Please someone say something to snap me back! I have not had a fill yet so I am hoping once I get my 1st fill it might help a little bit but people say it takes more than one fill to feel any restriction! I'm so scared I am going to gain some of my 50lbs back that I tried so hard to lose! Has any1 else gone through this or am I just screwed? I hate showing weakness but my weight has always been a huge struggle in my life since middle school and I feel like people on here will understand where I am coming from. I'm actually starting to believe that I was/am a food addict! :(

  4. Wine isn't carbonated right? LOL shows what I know about alcohol! I am not going to drink any beer or liquor anymore of course but I heard wine is good for you and your heart to have 1 glass of red wine a week.

  5. I know our paperwork says no alcohol or carbonated drinks for 6months. Would 1 glass of wine really hurt 5-6 weeks post-op? I have all these Halloween parties I have to attend and EVERYONE is going to be drinking of course! 1 glass of wine and sip it through out the night... yes or no?

  6. I really hope this is normal but hey were talking about me here so I seriously doubt it!

I am 14days post-op and I started having little stinging pains in my tummy but only last a few seconds each time. What is that?! Has anyone else experienced this and everything worked out fine? My cuts aren't red or hot so I am going to take that as not infected! Thank goodnes!

  7. This might be a stupid question but I have a huge thing for Chinese (egg drop/ wonton and hot and sour) soups but are they ok for the post-op full liquid phase? I take all the stuff out of them and just drink the broth but still, I just want to make sure before I keep on drinking them!

  8. When I experienced this it was just gas. Whenever I would drink broth or coffee (anything with sodium in it) I would feel full all the way up to my throat! I am now on day 8 and I don't have that feeling anymore! I would just wait it out but if you are concerned about it I would email the OCC.

  9. What are the foods that the band absolutely can not handle or push through? I heard STEAK is the main one for everyone. Some people say they cant eat eggs or bread but then some people say they can? What are the best foods that never have a problem? I want to start making my grocery list for my new me and don't want to have any nasty situations!

Also, how long before we can take a bath or go swimming after getting banded?

  10. I was banded Thursday at the OCC! Feeling ok but sore and swollen! Has anyone heard of a obesity clinic in Flordia that does fills and aftercare for Mexico banded patients? I hate airplanes and after the trip to and back from Mexico I really don't want to do that again! 4 days already done, 17more days to go before I'm back to eating REAL FOOD!

  11. Hey all,

I am 13 days away from surgery and 2 weeks into the pre-op diet. Lost 18lbs, gained 5 back already! How am I gaining weight when I am starving all the time? Most days have been fine and bearable but today was the worst day so far. Is it like this for everyone that goes through this or am I just making it rough on myself mentally? Friend's at work today ordered thai food for lunch (MY FAV) and had ice cream cake for our "birthday/anniversary" celebration for the month and I actually got pissed off. Me? Pissed off? A couple of my friends and boyfriend even tell me I don't need to go through this, they love me how I am. As much as I appreciate that, I don't like what I see in the mirror everyday. I have no idea whats going on with me but really hope I wake up to a better day tomorrow. I have not cheated ONCE and I refuse to start now! Are there any secrets or advice you guys can give me? When you guys had tough days, what got you through it? I would appreciate any suggestions you guys can give me. I want to succeed, not FAIL! :(

  12. Hey bandsters,

Here it goes! My 2nd entry! Woo Hoo!

First off, I can't believe that in 3 and 1/2 weeks I will be officially banded!!! It feels like just yesterday I made the decision to get the lapband and now im almost there and will be a real bandster! I'm so excited and hate to admit it, a lil nervous. You guys are a big help! I try to log on here everyday just to feel like im not alone in this and it works! You guys ROCK!

For those of you that went with diet option #2 for your pre-op diet.. (Two protein shakes, 1 lean cuisine, 1popcicle and 1 container of diet jello) I applaud you!

I am on day 6 of 21 and STARVING already! My surgery date isn't until Sept 9th but Dr. Miranda told me to start my pre-op early due to my BMI being so high. On the days that I work are the hardest! (I work 3days a week, 13hr shifts) so my body/mind are awake alot longer than my days off which = more hunger time. I think that has something to do with it.

Does anyone know why only lean cuisines? When I went to the grocery store to stock up I saw that other diet meals are actually LESS calories and with more food plus CHEAPER! Has everyone just stuck with lean cuisines or are there any risk takers out there? ;)

I bought slim-fast shakes and whey protein powder drink mix. Let me tell you...WHEY is yucky but it's supposed to be better for you and it's only 100calories per serving vs slim-fast 190calories! So for those that haven't started there pre-op diet yet, I would personally recommend them but hold your nose is all im saying!

It says in the paperwork that we can take 2 Metamucil capsules for hunger pangs? I went to walmart and bloom and didn't find any. All I did find was the powder and liquid kind. Any suggestions and do they actually work?

    ~D

  13. Thanks for all the friendly responses!! I am more relaxed now.

Paper panties..... can't say I am excited about that part! LOL. I wasn't aware that I had a choice to stay in the hospital overnight or just go back to the hotel. I like that they give you that option though! Thank you again to everyone that responded to me. I'm glad that there is a support system for lap-banders at my fingertips!

  14. Hey all lap-banders!

I'm Dana and I'm getting my lapband surgery done at OCC on September 9th 2010. I've read almost all of the different question/answer topics that are on this site and are all very helpful, you guys rock! I am just wondering what happens on the surgery day and the day after? I admit I am a little nervous but excited all at the same time and if I knew what to expect I think it will take some of the pressure off of me! I would appreciate any information anyone is willing to give me on here and hope to meet new people that are/have gone through this journey!
