Hello had my plication done in mexico Jan 19 by Dr lopez corvala , down 16 lbs was more then I anticpiated but looking back was good.I went alone and would not suggest that ,I have no pain anymore very little hunger if any. Also had long term concerns but as they told me lapbands at one point were not FDA approved. As always listen to your heart I know you will make the correct descion . I am 50 6ft1 250 at time of surgery will be under 200 for first time in 40 years looking forward to it gave myself this gift. Any questions hit me back. Fred

Thanks for the reply I am 50 years old giving myself this gift , as insurance will not pay 6ft1 240 lbs but struggle my whole life with those extra lbs .Keeping it a secret from all except my best friend. Never had an operation of any sort. 7 500 out of pocket on a loan ..Having surgery done by Dr. Juan Lopez Corvala

who did your surgery? Where? Did u have plication. I am having it on Jan19 and coming home Friday 21st I live in NJ long flight a little worried there also. How was walking across the border? etc? thanks for insight

I did it on December 27th--so very happy! I feel great. I stayed at the Camino Real, which is directly across the street from the mall, so that was even better. I was at the movies the day after surgury. I was also worried, but I am so glad I did it. I went from 220 and now I am 197.2 as of this AM. I cant wait to see me in a few months. Just be sure to faithfully follow the diet and use the incentive spirometer. When I was there an RN was there from tennessee and I am a Nurse Practitioner. Also an attorneys wife. of course to pay on your own you have to have some income, so very intelligent professional people there. Six were done the day I was there. One lady brought her brother who did botox the day after her procedure.

If you really want this, it is the right place to go.

it seems that every procedure on here thst talked about comes up as 50/50 good and bad expierencies it makes it so hard to decide from zoom whiteing to plication which I am haveing done Jan 19 it seems we all want to start a new in as many ways as we can.But so many different opinions dont make it easy lol God Bless all

I think that you would not find one of us that would have wished anything different from the OCC. The whole experience is a transformation of life for you and u just need to sit back and work with the team and enjoy the ride.

Same here all the same feeling just joined today with my first post , Jan 19th my surgery mixed posts making me nervous ..But everyones different as we know . Hope my life long struggle will finally end , up down up down , Was alittle taken back having learned not FDA approved. Couple posts freaked me about not looseing weight and pain and much discomfort hope many can put me at ease Good Luck Fred

This is my very first post here, ok very first post on any forum. I've read all of your posts on this forum and you all have been so helpful and generous with your comments. Thanks to all of you, many of my questions, you had already answered. I just had my first conversation with Dr Ortiz. He was so helpful and understanding. My GSP is set for January 28th, 2011. Now all that's left is to book my flight and fax in my pre op paperwork. Just laugh at myself.....half between excited and a case of the nerves. Somehow I think you all have been in this very spot. I look forward to your on-going comments. Thanks for beibg here for us new kids.
