  1. It's been just over a week since my last plastics (brachioplasty & mastopexy/reduction w/silicone gel implants). Still swollen but happy with results so far! Am thinking of starting a new thread to recycle all of post surgery compression garments. Hoping to maybe recover some cost & help other plastics patients do the same.......

  2. @operationskinny, have u scheduled ur surgery? We will be there this weekend for plastic surgery. Having the Plication will be the best decision you can make. You are uncomfortable for the first few weeks, simply because your stomach is filled with itself & has to get used to it! The liquid diet can feel frustrating, but when u finally get to have solids, you regain ur strength & feel amazing!!

  3. I had a belt lipectomy done on Dec 8,2012. I am ecstatic with the results! My husband had a tummy tuck & thigh lift on Feb 22nd (still swollen & healing). And I am going in this weekend (Mar 23rd) for an arm lift and a breast lift/reduction.

All performed (to be performed) by Dr. Castillo.

And the cost And care are definitely better than what you get in the states!!!!

  4. I did the PRP on Feb 23rd (? Might be off by a day or so). Anyways, Dr. So performed PRP on my incision line from my belt lipectomy and he also did a few injections on my face, neck, & above my breasts. I immediately saw results!! Dr. So recommended 2 more treatments over a year and a half to get the full benefits of PRP!

Also, I'm getting brachioplasty & breast lift this weekend, while there my husband is going to do a PRP treatment on his tummy tuck & thigh lift incisions (procedures from Feb 22nd)!

  5. It's been 1 year & 7 months since my husband and I had the gastric sleeve plication. Kevin is just a few pounds from Dr. Ortiz's ideal weight for him. He just consulted Dr. Castillo at the Ariel center regarding a tummy tuck & thigh lift to remove the excess skin. Once he does that he'll be under the ideal weight. As of right now, he has lost 140lbs.

My journey has been a little more difficult. My heaviest was 256 lbs. To give myself a boost I came back to the OCC/Ariel center to have a belt lipectomy (3 days post op). Dr. Castillo was able to remove 12 lbs of excess skin from my waistline. I have about 20 more lbs to lose & I'll have reached my goal!!!!

I plan to come back in a few months for brachioplasty (upper arm lift) and a breast lift.

Good luck to everyone on their weight loss journey & always remember, WLS is a tool for you to use.

  6. Thought I would throw out a good general topic today and see if we can get some information on how recovery went for different folks. I am sure it's a bit different for all of us...

As this is a laproscopic process (and I have had one of those for both my band and my gallbladder removal) I sort of know what to expect.

I was up and walking right away to try and avoid the dreaded gas pains, but wonder with the plication if it will be as pain free as the others...as they are messing with your stomach alot more in this surgery.

So - can anyone tell us what the first and second day were like? Did you have gas, nausea, was the pain noticable? How soon before you were feeling fairly normal - like able to drive and go back to work?

    Thanks everyone!

Donna C in Seattle (down 4 lbs on the 3rd day of the diet - at this rate I might hit goal before the surgery lol)

We had our surgery on May 9. Had a complication with our esophagus' swelling & closing so we had to stay another night at the OCC. Neither of us had a lot of gas from the surgery, only after sipping/drinking. The papaya & gas-x help with that, as well as walking & deep breathing. We drove all the way to northern CA on day 4. Wouldn't recommend it, the roads are too bumpy & it was very uncomfortable. My husband was up & about quicker than me, but sitting upright was very uncomfortable, even with loose fitting clothes. because of the sitting, I didn't drive for nearly a week.

All in all, we made a great decision to do the plication. and can't wait for the new "healthier, happier" selves.

  7. If you speak to Carolyn, please post her response. I too want to go with the Plication, I just have to figure out the financial side of it first. But in the mean time, I decided to start the pre-op diet to see if I could do it, however I'm worried that the diet isn't meant to be for than a few weeks (I'm looking at May or June for surgery date)so I emailed Dr. Miranda some questions on Monday & still haven't rec'd a response.

    Any one have any ideas?
