  1. I'm 7 days post-op and was wondering if anyone else had this problem--my biggest incision on the left side of my stomach is still pretty sore/tender. When I stretch or move in a certain way, I have pain under the incision...I'm not too sure if it's the incision itself or my stomach. It makes me a little nervous. What do you guys think?

Hi LindseySea, Glad to hear your up and around. My large incision was also sore and tender for a while. Mine was right under the waist of every pair of pants I had. I wore sweatpants to work for about 2 weeks. Call OCC if you are really concerned. If you are not running a fever, and the incision doesnt appear to be infected its probably just your normal healing process. Please keep us posted on how you are doing. Blessings, Sandi

  2. Hi there,

Just wanting to get some feedback from all of you plication folks. If you could go back would you still choose Plication or would you go with a Sleeve? I am set for Plication on July 1st but still have time to consider a sleeve.

All feedback appreciated. If you want to contact me off board - claras_attic@hotmail.com will work.

Thanks - can you tell I am gettng nervous?

I love my plication, would do it again in a heartbeat!! Good luck today. I know you'll do great. Blessings, Sandi

  3. Sorry Sandy, forgot to comment on the getting the water down, took me about 2.5-3 months to work up to 64oz. Not sure about the hour wait after eating s my instructions are to not drink 30 mins. either side of eating a solid. Is this what you meant by the hour thing? Katie:)

Thanks, water intake is getting better. My written instructions just said, "No fluid for 1 hour after solids", didnt say anything about fluid before solids. Now doing the no fluid half hour before and after solids. Working pretty good. Blessings, Sandi

  4. I had my plication on April 11, 2011. Lost 15 lbs before surgery. Have lost additional 33 lbs since coming home. April 11 was a monday, flew home to Washington state on Wednesday, back to work following monday. I have a desk job, so wasnt too worried about getting back to work. That said, I think I am still recovering. I am on solid food now, but still do 1 protein shake per day. Have a hard time getting water in. How can you drink 64ozs of water without stretching your new stomach? After about 1/2 Cup I feel sick. Add to that no fluid for 1 hour after a meal. Dont mean to complain, I feel soooo much better now, cant wait to get to goal weight. Would do it again with no second thoughts. This is truely a blessing and a gift.

One of the added benefits is that sweet foods make me quezzy.

    Blessings, Sandi

  5. Well - I keep posting and hoping to get more folks to answer!

Today I thought it might be helpful to talk about the pre-surgery diet and not only what everyone is losing(or lost) but expectations.

I think that the more weight you have to lose the more you will lose in the pre-op diet. Probably it's about the same percentage of body weight lost though if you look at it that way.

For me - it's a goal of 5 lbs before surgery - and I am already down 6 lbs in a week. Now I was eating a bit more than I should have been before this week and the diet has made a big difference. My guess is that it will not be as good for the next week or two and then when I go to the 2 shakes a day and one meal and the last 3 days of liquid I will lose more (who wouldn't)..I am hoping to be down 15 lbs. Figure that way I only have 35 lbs more to lose to get back to my pre-band blow out weight. Then with the plication I should be able to maintain like I did with the band (fingers and toes crossed on that one)...

So - how has it been for you?

I was suppose to lose 10lbs. started my diet 3 weeks before and lost 15. The few days before when everything is liquid really helps. Sandi

  6. Wow! Had my surgery April 11. So different than Dr.s I am used to. Everyone from hotel employees, to the surgeons were so nice, willing to take time with you. What a wonderful experience. Would do it again without question. Recovery is pretty easy. I flew home on april 13, and have been resting comfortably, walking, just enjoying my liquids. Go back to work Monday. My start wt was 242lbs, wt at surgery was 226, wt now 222. Yeah OCC and me!!
