  1. I feel fat and horrible. My stomach is bloated and I want to eat. I'm gaining instead of losing and all I did was take a teaspoon of strawberry jelly I was making. I'm 55 and past menapause so it can't be that time of the month. I want to cry.

I had my original plication 7/5/11, but 14 days ago I had it tighened. Before this I had my thyroid checked to see why I'm not losing and everything checked out fine. Why am I not losing? Why do I look like I'm pregnant?

  2. Man, you guys are tough. BUT it's just the tough kick in the butt I needed too. I had the Plication and I'm 12 days post-op and yesterday I got so hungry I ate 3 bites of toast while waiting for my soup to come. Before swallowing I chewed until it was mush then mixed with water in my mouth before swallowing. However I think I swallowed a bite without mixing with water. Then last night I got caught in another situation where I had to chew on tortilla chips while waiting for my soup to come.

I know now to not let myself get that hungry before eating. Although I chewed so very well, do any of you think I may have done damage? As in stretching the pouch/sleeve or breaking the stitches? How tough are these stitches?

I would absolutely die if I messed this up again. What I had done 12 days ago was a tightening of the plication I had exactly 1 year ago. It seems I have a serious eating disorder. More than just hunger making me eat.

  3. I had mine in July and only lost 25 lbs. I saved for so long to have this surgery and this is all I lost. I am so depressed it's killing me. I can't believe I only lost 25 lbs. I just can't believe it. I wish I had gone with the bypass. Maybe I would have lost more. I've been to 2 doctors to see if my thyroid was messed up and they both said it was fine. I'm just eating too much. God I just can't believe this. My husband is furious with me.

  5. OMG! 2 Weeks yesterday and down 15 lbs. Not a single day of nausea, not a single pain bill needed, (did have a headache, but a tylenol fixed that right up). I have to admit that on the 2nd or 3rd day I was secretly regretting it. Only because I was thirsty and couldn't drink more than that darn baby spoon size sip. I was asking myself "what did I do to myself". I can't believe I actually gave thought to turning around and going back to have it undone.

My husband reminded me that this was temporary and he was right. I was on vacation for 2 weeks and took advantage of that. I'm from Baton Rouge, Louisiana and had never been to California so we rented a car and drove from Tijuana up to Yosemite Nat'l Park. This was 2 days post surgery. I walked all around Yosemite, then it was on to San Francisco where we walked for about 8 hours. No kidding. This was just 4 days after surgery. Then went to visit my son and of course walked the malls.

I walked so much and it was never uncomfortable. By day 5 I was like my old self. Other than the small amount I can consume I would have never believed I had the surgery. I think the walking did it. By the time I got home I had lost 14 lbs. And that was on day 7 after surgery. Since then I've been TRYING to walk about 2 hrs. each day.

If anyone has any hesitations about going to Mexico, DON'T. It was very, very safe. We shopped while there and the hospital was cleaner than we have here.

  6. I'm scheduled for surgery on 7/05/11. I'm having a very tough time losing weight before surgery. I lose weight pretty easy, but I have a very busy lifestyle and I have no patience with hunger. I'm female, age 53, am 5'3" and weight 226 lbs. Does anyone know what will happen if I can't lose the 10 lbs I'm supposed to lose before surgery?

  8. I am from Louisiana and am scheduled to for the plication on 7/4/11. And I am SCARED. Not going to let this stop me, but would love to have a "buddy" to go through this with. Is there anyone scheduled for this day also? How about someone near me from the south? Please reach out to me beverly@iusco.com or beverlyg101@gmail.com
