I had my surgery Oct 31 2011...its FEb 4 2012. I started at 216 pounds. I now wiegh 162 pounds...54 pounds down....27 more pounds to go! I admit I am really struggeling with eating. I dont eat much, I have no cravings at all! I definetly cannot eat a whole meal and mostly find myself snaking on chips, crackers, popcorn, yogurt and cottage cheese because my stomach can handle those foods. I have a hard time with chicken and meat in general so i do still drink shakes to get protien. I have to be picky on fluids as well because my stomach cannot handle concentrated fruit juices...i like Ice tea. I no longer can eat spicey food or drink alcohol because it burns my stomach and is uncomfortable. I can eat very little and am full fast. I do get the acid reflux quite often which sucks.
I have been reading this forum for a while and on other sites and it appears everyone is different. Some have issues and some do not. As for trying to eat healthy its not that I dont want too but I find that i just cant eat most things...i go for things I know i can eat and get whatever calories i can because I am losing the wieght steadily and without work. I have more energy now then i have in the last few months because I couldnt get much in me. Literally throwing up food as soon as it went down. I still dont have the energy to be bothered with working out but i so am wanting to tone. I am taking vitamins but find i forget a lot..
My next hurdle once i get to my goal is maintaining that wieght and not to continue to lose ! I never imagined i would ever have that to worry about! With all the eating issues I have its great to get into my skinny clothes only to find out they are now big on me.

ok I will look into the Glycerna. How much do you find your eating now after your done with the pre op diet? What are you eating? lol
-
Yes, but we choose the lower carb type drink and we ended up switching to glycerna, they tasted better and didn't spike my blood sugar.

Thanks for replying! I appreciate it! I want to lose about 70 pounds.. I would like to be 130-140 pounds ideally...If I can lose that in 3 months that would be great ! I am starting to prepare with Slim Fast shakes...one for breaky and one for lunch with some fruit and veggies for snacks...and one healthy meal for dinner..Does this sound right?

My highest weight was 296 I was 291 when I started the preop. I am now just over 3 months out and have lost 62 lbs. Feel wonderful and so happy I made this choice. Best decision I have ever made.

I have lost 70 pounds...never worked out once except a lot of walking due to my job. I started at 216...now i am 146 pounds...10 more pounds to go to get to my personal goal wieght. As for food at the begining it was very hard. I ate very little. I couldnt keep much down. I am finding i can eat more now and can eat solid meat now...however i am in month 5...and my stomach doesnt burn when i drink orange juice and i can eat solid meat and egg...whereas i couldnt before. I am going to start working out to Tone...I am happy with my success. I think its only going to get better.
