  1. Hi! I live in Utah, too and I hear that we are getting a surgery and fill center in St. George really soon! About the food post fill and surgery, it probably isnt too good to eat chips and crackers. The doctor said that when starchy foods combine with your stomach acid, it expands greatly

I also live in Utah, so we 3 ought to share information/resources we find.

Have you gotten fills done at the fill center in Salt Lake?

I was just banded last week and I am terrified to even try and eat some of the foods I ate before, but I am sure that will pass and I'll have to deal with the same cravings I struggled with, but I am hoping the threat of vomiting and pain is enough of a scare to keep me from trying.

I was not banded by Dr. Ortiz, but my Dr said liquids for the first complete week after a fill.

  2. I am on day 6 post-op, taking it easy staying with the eating plan I was given, walking around but being careful. The incisions are healing very well and my pain is less every day.

BUT- when I turn or try to get out of bed using my stomach muscles sometimes I get a very sharp stabbing pain in my abdomen. It is 3-4 inches below and to the left of my port incision, so I know it isn't something going wrong with the incision.

I have had c sections and I am pretty sure I remember having random occasional stabbing pains as I healed, so I am not freaking out, but I never really asked my OB/GYN why they happened and I cannot remember how long they lasted.

It happens only when I make the mistake of forgetting and trying to use my tummy muscles but- wow- they hurt like the dickens. I guess I just want to know if any of you had this and re-assurance that it is okay and normal.

    And temporary,lol.

  3. I was just banded in TJ last week, and am looking for some support and help when I have questions online. My best friend had it done in July and her surgery went much smoother than mine, but I am okay. I will need to find a fill Dr. In Salt Lake City or I'll just have to make the trips to TJ until I find one here.

Right now I am mostly struggling with the pain in my shoulder that comes and goes and seems to be worse at night, but that could be because I am trying to sleep and more aware.

Besides this forum, what are some other good places for post-op information and support? How do I begin finding a local doctor to do fills?
