  1. Hang in there Sand Pirate. I've heard of some people getting a thicker saline injected when they haven't had any restriction with the normal saline that is used. You might mention it to the doctor to see if they have more info.

Glad to hear from one of my fellow bandsters!!!

OOOOoooo, I haven't heard of that thicker saline I have to ask about that tomorrow when I go in. Thanks for the Info.

Noworry, I go to a doctor that is 20 min. away his name is Dr. Larsen

    Keep in touch

  2. I found one in Lake Worth FL. its not far at all.

His name is Dr. Larson with the JFK Medical Center he is very nice and understanding. He did his training with the lap-band along with his professor with Dr. Ortiz. His number is 561-649-0243 and his fill office is at 4665 S. Congress Suite 102 Lake Worth Fl. 33461

Hope this help you and others in our area.

  3. Where are you getting your fills?

Please do post your results. Since our starting weights are very similar, I think I'm heading in the same direction as you, and your experience may give me some idea of where I'm headed. Congratulations on keeping your weight in check in the meantime. I'm managing to tread water, too.

I'll keep my fingers crossed that this will be the one that gets you to the sweet spot. Good luck.

  4. You sound very sanguine and patient. I envy you.

I've had 2 fills (5.6 cc total), and also have no restriction. My experiences are almost identical to yours. Bread is perhaps the only thing that I can't easily eat. It gets stuck usually with the first or second bite.

If I rapidly take three sips or more of liquids, I also have a brief period of restriction. I feel tiny air bubbles being released through the band as the liquid goes down. It usually passes in about 10 minutes. And it's always more pronounced in the morning.

What was your starting weight and BMI and how has that changed since your surgery? Considering that you're almost at the max for the band, have you and your fill doctor discussed whether the VG band was right for you in the first place?

Well, I never had an option in the size of band that was put in, it seems that Dr. Ortiz puts 10cc bands in men as the norm.

I go in Tuesday for another fill this may take it over 10cc I will see then.

    My pre-op weight was 302

at surgery day it was 285

I an currently at 277...at least I can say I haven't put my weight back on

  5. Sand Pirate,

Were you banded on Feb 9th? If so, we were there at the same time! I don't visit the board as much as I use to so I was suprised to see you. I'm the blonde that was there with my sister. I don't know if you remember me but I wanted to say "hi".

I have the 4cc band and have had one fill. I don't know about this sweet spot that I hear people talk about. My restriction is really good. I got this fill back in April and I don't feel like I need another one yet. I am down 45 pounds which isn't bad. I was hoping to be down about 50-60 pounds by now but I've been slacking on my exercise. It's my own fault.

I really hope that you get the problem resolved soon! Good luck to you and "hello" from Oklahoma City. :-h

Yes, I remember you and your sister we rode back in the van to the airport together.

This 10cc band is a little hard to adjust I think. I remember the other guy that was with us from Washington I think originally from Australia, he had a 10cc band and I was wondering if he is having the same problem in filling it with no real restrictions yet?

  6. Hi Everyone:

I haven't talked in a while but I thought this would be the place to ask?

I have had 5 fills so far totaling 9cc's in a 10 cc band and I can still eat as well as I did before the band, with only a few exceptions (dry breads). I also have a restriction first thing in the morning but after a couple of bites of cereal the restriction goes away. I sometimes have a fluid restriction problem that causes hiccups for 10 to 15 min until an air bubble passes through. I was wondering if others are having similar experiences before I have my next fill. My fill doctor said he has filled men with the 10cc bands to 12cc before and the lap band company said this is not uncommon.

  7. Hi From Boca Raton, Florida :-h

    Surgery date February 9th 2007

I am a 53 year old man that is 5'10" and just broke the 300 barrier. That was something I never wanted to see but it happened so now I have to so something about it. Yes, like the two of you I tried every diet known to man and a few known to only aliens. (hehe kidding) The one thing I hate about dieting is that my will power only goes so far and then I cheat and then cheat again and before you know it all the weight is back and then some. You know what the say about a DIET, its DIE with a T and thats what its doing to be when I yo-yo so much. I figured dieting is not for me, I need a lifestyle change something so dramatic it wakes my body up to the fact that I am not going to tolerate being FAT anymore. That Lap-Band is a tool to keep me in check.....NO MORE CHEATING.... or I will suffer the consequences. I am determined this will work and I am 100% committed to the program.

  8. Hi All :-h

I wanted to know if anyone had a fill doctor that they knew of that is close to my area that has a Fluoroscope for my first fill once I get banded on the 9th of February. :-? I see that the fill center USA has one in Tampa and St. Petersburg FL. but that is still far for me looking closer to Ft. Lauderdale or West Palm Beach.

    Thank you in advance :)

  9. Hi to the dynamic duo :-h

Well, I did it, I scheduled myself for February 9th 2007. I have a done a lot of research on the Lab-Band surgery and I hope my decision on having the surgery is one of the better decisions I have made. Foremost, the surgeon had to be the best and the surgery center had to be the cleanest and well equipped. The people supporting the surgeon had to be the most caring and knowledgeable. If the rest of the staff is as caring ,friendly and knowledgeable as Lori and Carolyn are then I know I made the right decision. I haven't spoken with anyone else yet but I guess that will come in time the closer it gets to Feb. 9th. I also want to thank the nice people on this forum because without your great comments that I have read for hours on end I couldn't have made my decision with the confidence I have. =D>

Thank you, your friend in Florida.

  10. Well Hello ><'

I am VERY new to forum because I am scheduled to be banded Feb 9th 2007, (actually just made the appointment today). I live in Boca Raton, Fl. and work in Pompano Beach. So, Hello to all in FLORIDA and all the people that wrote encouraging words in the forum. Without all of the great people out there writing there supportive words I don't know if I could have made the decision. I hope it is one of the best decisions I made but only time will tell. So far Lori and Carolyn and been great asnswering any question I had, as it gets closer I will probably have more.
