  1. Well, I was just banded on 2/26 and had a lot of pain. I'm still not normal and am very amazed because i too read about people going shopping the day of discharge!! I guessed that everyone is different though... I know pain is relative but I'm not a complainer and I can say the post-op has been painful, not just uncomfortable. This morning was my 1st time getting out of bed and not feeling like i was tearing at my whole abdomen...and on the contrary, i did follow all the "rules" and try to walk about 30 min a day (slow but...)

The moral of this is that it is def getting better but i did expereince what you have also!!

I still keep a hand on my left side to prevent my side from moving and ultimately, hurting.

On another note, has anyone had a problem with not being able to "go"? I called and talked to a doctor about constipation and they told me that i really shouldn't have too b/c i'm on the liquids but i really feel like i have to! Has anyone taken anything for this? Or got a diff response?

  2. Hi,

I have read many people's comments that they did not experience much pain. It has been six days and I am still very sore. The first four days I spent in bed. Is this normal?

  3. Just in case anyone other than I wanted to know... SlimFast just came out with an Easy to Digest (Lactose-Free) Shake. It is actually pretty good! I've bought the Vanilla but it also comes in Chocolate, which I'm sure I will try soon! 10 days to go... Whoohoo! =D>

    To be banded 2/26/07!!!!!

  4. I actually had my band put in September 2005... lost 50 pounds by April of the next year and then bang.. found out I was pregnant!!! Just had my baby 3 weeks ago... no complications with the pregnancy or the band during the entire pregnancy. I was filled at 2.1cc, but I did have an unfill in February 2006 because I got a nasty gastrointestinal bug that totally inflammed my stomach lining... it made eating and drinking impossible... but I had it refilled to 1.9cc in May (felt it was a little too loose cuz I was still hungry all the time, then I found out I was pregnant in May, so I figured that was why I was so hungry... I gained quite a bit during my pregnancy... 75 pounds... ugh... after all my work, but since the baby I have lost 45 pounds (in 3 weeks!!) I am sure that the rest of the weight will be slower but it was nice to know that I didn't have to re-lose all the weight I had already lost once.

Ahhhhhh...peace of mind!! Thank you so much for replying! I am very excited for the band but was nervous about getting pregnant later on. It's nice to hear about a personal experience because whatever I read about online can't compare to hearing someone actually go through it!!! And congrats on your new baby!!

    Thanks,

    Renee

  5. Hi Everyone,

I just got banded and I would like to share my experience with you.

Thank you so much for your post! I am getting banded on Feb 28 and was very nervous but after reading this I am a bit more comfortable :) Your experience made everything sound doable to me and your writing style sounds very matter-of-fact! Thank you again and hope to hear more about things as you progress. Good luck with everything!

  6. Hi! I'm getting banded by Dr. Ortiz on Feb 26 and was wondering if anybody has any info about others who have gotten pregnant after being banded. My husband and I are looking into having children a couple years from now and I just wanted some insight into possible problems I may experience, if any. I have read online about all the positivity surrounding getting pregnant after dropping so much weight, but I am looking for a more personal experience with someone who has actually done this or if you know of someone.

Thanks! And also, I would like to meet anyone who will also be getting banded on Feb 26 by Dr. Ortiz. And anyone from Houston :)

  7. Hi Greg,

Just wanted to let you know that I have tried the Nutri-System meals and found them to be less than tasty. I have to agree with a previous post that said you cannot compare with fresh foods. I bought the 4 + 1 week free and was sick of the food by the second week! I gave the rest away. There seemed to me like there was a certain taste to all the different foods that did not agree with me. It must've also been psychological that most of my foods were coming out of a box... not very appetizing :(
