How come you have to have your band put back on? what happened with the first one?

Hi Kim, I had an upper GI done in February and they gave me this stuff to drink, and after I took it they told me it puts air in your stomach so they can see better. Doing that made my band slip, and by the time it was found it was to late to save my band. Dr. Ortiz had to do emergency surgery on me the day after easter. I can't wait until next month I want my band on soooooo bad.

I will be coming in on the 2nd. I am getting my band put back on on the 3rd. Dr. Ortiz and all his staff are great. You will fall in love with all of them, I know I have. Good luck.

Sally I know how you feel. I had to have my band removed in April I had only had it for 8 months. Thank God I got another loan to have another one put back on. I am going to try and go next month, but if they don't have any space left I do have an appointment already for November 16th. I just don't want to wait any longer. Hang in don't give up and if you plan on getting another band just let that keep you going.

I got a loan from Reliance financing for my surgery. I was not going to let my insurance company not paying for weight loss surgery stop me from having it. I would do it all over again if I had to. I have a husband and 3 kids, if I would have waited until I saved all the money to have it done, it never would have happend. If financing is something you are interested in Dr. Ortiz has a company the reccomend, if I rememver right it's APF USA.com. Good luck

Someone please help me, I was banded in Aug had my first fill in Oct. and had my first unfill in Jan. everything was going good so I thought and now as of sunday I can't eat again and it's hard to drink water again. I thought maybe my lunch from sunday was stuck because I ate faster then I should have, so I have been on liquids for 3 day's now and like I said even they hurt going down. Dose anyone have any ideas as to what could be going on? Please someone help.

Hiwaii Girl, I was banded on Aug 26th and had my first fill on Oct 19th after my fill I didn't lose any weight, and I know I have good restriction, at this point in time I can't eat anything. It took me just until the other day to start losing weight again, don't get discouraged.

Hi everyone, can someone please tell me how much food you can eat?

I got my first fill on October 29th, I got 2cc put in and I think everything is going good. Nothing gets stuck, and I have not pb'ed yet. (thank god) I eat slow, and it takes me about 20 min. to half an hour to finish my food. I would say I eat maybe 2/3 of a cup at a time. My sister thinks I'm not getting enough so I really would like to know how much everyone else can eat.

Hi Shelia, I think exercise is very important to me. I get up every morning and hit the gym. I know it has helped me lose the 32 lbs. I have lost so far. Right now I'm just doing cardio, but next month I'm going to start back with my personal trainer. Good luck with your surgery, and working out.

HI everyone I need your help, I'm going to Tj in October for my fill I have to fly in on the night before because I'm getting it done at 9:30 in the morning. I have two questions #1 do you know if the shuttle is $65 for each person, and # 2 how exactly do you get back across the boarder is it cheaper to take the shuttle back? I have read a couple post about taking a cap to the boarder and walking across, how exactly dose all that work. I'm taking the shuttle into Tj. because we are getting in at 10:30pm friday night so I don't feel comfortable walking across the boarder at that time of night. Please help me.

Hi Misti, I had surgery with Dr. Ortiz on August 26th. It was the best experience I have ever had with any Dr. I would reccomend Dr. Ortiz to anyone who is looking into going to him for surgery.

Hi I was just banded on August 26th, I started at 280 with a BMI of 44, I called Dr. Miranda, but never heard back from her, but when I got their she asked if I was on liquids for the week before, so I think she does want everyone on liquids the week before. But try and get a hold of her and find out for sure.

Hi I think It's because your over 300lbs. Thats why you have to go on the liqued diet.

Hi I was just banded on August 26th, and yes I found if I tried to do to much I would get tired, I needed to sit down a little but I never felt weak. I do daycare and have 3 kids of my own, and went back to work the Monday after surgery. My sister also got it done the same time I did, and she works at FEDEX, and she also went back to work the Monday after. She to found that she got tired faster, but not weak. Hope this helps.

Hi everyone I have a really dumb question for all of you. I was banded four days ago and have felt really good up until today. Now I have horrible gas, you could make a recording of my stomach and use it for werid sound CD. Anyways is this normal? Like I said I have felt really good up to this point. Any help would be really great.

Hi everyone I was just wondering Mrs. Ortiz told us not to lay flat after we were banded because it would slow down the process. My question is for how long. Just the first couple of days or what.

Hi everyone just wanted to let you know I was banded on Friday, and made it home ok. Dr. Orizt and his staff are more then I could have expected. I had to wait 1hr for my room, and Dr. Ortiz kept coming out and talking with me then he walked me to my room when it was ready. Then he would go do a surgery and come back sit down and talk to me and my sister some more. He is the best. I don't even feel like I had surgery. Like I've hered alot if it wasn't for the incisions I wouldn't think anything was done. Anyways sorry for going on just really impressed with Dr. Ortiz and everyone their. Also met some really nice people getting their bands also, found out one of them only lives 1/2 hr. away from me. Anyways anyone who will be going soon don't be nervous everything is GREAT!!!

Hi everyone I hope you are all having a good day. I know I'm sitting here just counting the day's until my kids go back to school. Anyways my surgery is next thursday, and about 3 weeks ago I got an email from occ,and they wanted me to set up a phone cons. with Dr. Miranda. any ways I never heard back from any one, and I was just wondering if every one has to go on a liquid diet a week before surgery, or only if they tell you you need to. My sister is also having this done and they told her to go on a liquid diet before hand, but said nothing to me. Sorry for going on. If anyone can tell me what you were told that would be great.
