  2. Hi, I was banded on June 5th and I was just wondering if anyone knew how soon after surgery are you able to drink alcohol? I have my first fill July 20th so I am excited and kinda worried at the same time. How do they deadend the skin where they insert the needle to put the stuff in your band? If someone knows the answer to my questions could you please tell me and give me some peace of mind!! Thanks

  3. Hi Teresa,

Even for "normal" people, it is hard to get in all the vegetables and fruits needed in a day. I would imagine it is even harder for those of us who are banded. I take a product called Juice Plus, that is whole fruits and vegetables in capsule form. You might try it to see how it works. I take 2 capsules in the morning and two at night and it gives me 5-9 servings of veggie and fruit per day. You get all the nutrients, antioxidents and even fiber. Taking it doen't mean you don't have to EAT fruits and veggies....it is a supplement not a substitute, but the benefits of getting enough fruits and veggies are astounding, including helping keep you "regular". Also, it is an all-natural solution to your problem. I think their website is juiceplus.com

    Good luck!

hey, how long after surgery are you able to drink alcohol again? if someone has an idea and could let me know that would be great! Thanks

  4. I had a couple of questions. I'm not having my band until 7/30/07, but I want to go ahead and exercise during the pre-op diet because you're still losing then right? Anyway, has anyone used the trampoline for exercise? My daughter, who is a size 5, jumps on the trampoline daily. I'm wondering if it will hurt once the band is in place. Also, I keep forgetting to ask the doctor - I have a 14 month old who is about 22 lbs. How soon after my surgery will I be able to pick her up?

Thanks. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

I had a question, how soon after surgery is it safe again to drink alcohol?

  5. I was told pretty much all you want. Since you are on clear liquids you aren't getting very much nutrition from them, so as long as you are hungry, go nuts. As for water, staying hydrated is very important. Just ask the woman who got kidney stones post-op because she didn't drink enough. This is a time of healing, don't worry about loosing weight.

I also had a real quick question, how soon are you able to drink alcohol again after surgery? I havent asked my Dr so I thought I would just see if someone knew on here. thanks!!

  6. Hi,

I am in the beginning stages of the lap banding process and have my first meeting with a nutritionist in a few weeks, followed by other appointments to prepare for the surgery. Did anyone not tell family members or friends they were having the surgery? I am hoping to find some support from the people in my life, but I fear that most of them are judgmental and think that this surgery is the easy way out (it isn't!). I need to find someone other than my 11 year old daughter to talk to and find support from. I am a single mom. I live in the Twin Cities and posted an ad for a post op lap band volunteer to be a support to me during the preparation and post surgery. Any advice or input you have would be appreciated. Thanks. Laura

    Hi,

I haven't had the band yet but I am all approved and I just need to pick a date when I can get the procedure done. I havent picked a date because I am in college and am waiting for this semester to get over with. My mom is also planning on having the lap band as well but has yet to be approved. My family on my Mom's side is very supportive because a few of them have had the gastric bypass and know that surgery is not the easy way out like many people think. My family on my dad's side is a total different story. My mom and I do not want them to know what we are doing because they are the type of people to make us feel like its the easy way out and just put us down. I think family should be supportive no matter what but what can you do? Its hard not telling them and not being able to talk to them about what we are doing but at least i have my family on my moms side. I have also not told any of my friends because I am afraid they will think the same way. Although there is 1 that i am plannin on telling after i get it done and I know she will be supportive because I have known her for over 10 years. I hope this helps and feel free to ask me any more questions or just to talk!

  7. Hi, my mom and I are planning on having surger but we are confused as to what option to go with, the gastric-bypass or the lapband. My Grandma had the gastric-bypass and has had a few problems with it as to what she can eat. She gets gas when she eats certain foods and cant handle other foods and I was wondering if you have those possibilities with the lapband? Also, do you have to have the band replaced after so many years? I have a Dr appt on Feb. 21st and my mom and I have to have our minds made up by then as to what option we want to do so I am hoping someone can help me with the concerns that I have! Thanks
