  1. Yes Yes Yes. Be very careful when traveling to TJ. While I was having my surgery my 21 yr old son went to revolution street for a few gifts. To make a long story short he was robbed of his cell phone, bank card, cheap jewelry and belt. The persons who did this were part of a drug gang. While some of the men were out cleaning out his bank account (which only had 60 dollars) the other member let my son go. I was so frightened when he didn't return at the time he said he would. This all happened at 12 in the afternoon. I partly blame myself because I raised my children in a small town of 300 people. Where we all take our safety for granted. I'm very thankful he was let go and was relatively not hurt( he lost a tooth from being punched in the mouth). Since this happened I have once again went to Tj. and did some shopping, But remember to never go alone.

  2. kym828, Thanks for the reply, I was told weather could be a issue. We live at 2500 ft so I guess altitude could be one too. The last few days one day its nice and warn the next it rains. Today I have a whopper of a headache, so I'm taking it easy today and sticking to liquids. Thanks again for the reply. April

  3. The last few days everytime I eat my back hurts. This AM for example, I took a small bite of sausage, (which I've eatin several times before) chewed well and by the time I took a second bite my back hurt, like right at my spine in the middle of my shoulders. I felt like I was going to puke but didn't . I figured it was stuck so I took some papaya enzyme. I've not had my first fill yet. I've heard that stress can make you more restricted, but even when your not filled yet? My life has been very stressful the last week or so. I'm even stressing more on this because now I wonder if this is what people mean when they have a band slip? I always thought that if it was a slip, you would have chest pain, am I a odd one? I decided to stay on liquid for a few days but even water is uncomfortable to swallowtoday, I have to take little sips like in the beginning. Has anyone had this happen, I'd like to hear from you.

  4. Ok so heres the problem, not a big one to most, but to me its big. I'm following my post op diet as instructed, watching the fat and carb content and I gained 2 pounds. I'm just barely eating 800 cals a day, cant hardly force myself any more than that. So what am I doing wrong. I was losing about 1 lb a day, I expected it to slow down but to go the other way has got me really upset. I don't get my first fill until May 5th, 3 weeks away. I do know I'm not exercising much yet, due to years of not and bad knees and still very sore in port area, but I am doing a small 10 minute all body routine each day. I know give up the excuses and get off your a**. Help me get back on track.

  5. :blink: This has been making me think alot lately about after surgery when everyone says to walk, walk, and etc. Around the halls and out in public and so on. :rolleyes:

    Does that mean that noone is embarrassed about letting her rip to get relief? Are they quiet bombers or silent? Sorry about the strange question, but it's just been kinda on my mind. :-?

    Peace all,

    Judy

    Judy, I found that most of my gas was expelled at night, while in bed. I think it had to do with the fact

    I sleep on my side which I was able to do 2 days post-op. As for walking, just let it rip and if anyone notices just say a polite excuse me. My walking ones were quite, so I'm sure you'll be fine and don't be embarrassed. It's a fact of life. best of luck

  6. I haven't gotten my band yet, but as for broth, I made a cabbage type, all vegi soup as I'm on the liquid stage of pre-op. I also cooked chicken and hamburger for my family to add to theirs. I drank the broth which was quite good, then added 1 packet of TacoBell hot sauce, Wow was it really good. I froze a container to use when I get home from surgery on March 23. Can't wait. The days are SOOOOOO

    LOOOOONNGGG

  7. I guess I should clarify my earlier statement a bit. Don't bring massive amounts of each, as in 1000 pills of lipitor, 1000 pills of prevacid - basically amounts of name brand prescriptions that make it look like you are an under-the-table reseller. The birth control and over the counter stuff probably won't raise any eyebrows. The stuff you listed is all pretty benign anyway. If I was taking any opiate based pain killers or anything else that is oft abused I'd be a little more concerned and sure to bring the relevant prescription. You'll be fine. If you're still concerned about it you can just take enough for the few days you'll be gone and then you shouldn't have many left when you cross on the way home.

    What area of Washington are you in. You look SO familiar. I'll be taking liquid Hydrodocodone, 6 prilosex, 10 detrol, 10 ketoprofen the others I can go without for the week. Do you think its better to keep it in my suitcase, or in my purse.

  8. I was hoping to find someone in the Spokane area. My PCP is doing some research for me. Otherwise I think maybe the Everett Area, I have family there. I was kind of thinking maybe I could find someone to go with or them ride with me Etc, to share the ride and the experience. I'm having my surgery in Tj on March 20th. I live in Metaline Falls. We should get together sometime, maybe Colville.

    =D> thought you might be interested in this;

    I was watching the news and there is a new Lap band Dr in Spokane. He's just moved here but has lots of experience. I talked with his office and he will do aftercare and fills for patients that have had their bands placed elsewhere. I did forget to ask about cost. His name is Dr. Trotter his number and address is Valley Outpatient Surgery Center 1414 N. Houk Rd, Suite 204 Spokane, Wa. 99216 phone 509-922-0362 or call Lori at his office 344-3100

  10. Hi, I'm in Okanogan...where do you plan on going for your fills? That has been a big concern for me. I live in the middle of nowhere...I know a local doctor does fills for his nurse after hours on the QT, but figure either the Puget Sound or down to the Tri Cities is it for me. I've yet to schedule...trying to decide on a date in the first week of April.
