  1. Hi, Angela ! Its Lisa !! You are doing so great !! Good for you!!!!

I'm down 21 - and trying to get the hang of being filled -- I got 1.7cc's and have

been PB'ing like crazy (after I was all cocky and said I wouldn't do it!) I'm getting

better, but its been rough (but I'm tough, I just don't want to slip my band!)

Sounds like you got a good fill -- I think that 2.2 is a lot ! When I got my fill the

Doc said to give it 2 months, so thats what I"m going to do.

Keep up the great work, Angela !!!! Its great to get your progress!

  2. Beata and Barbara,

It was a pleasure meeting both of you. I'm glad we got to share some good "spirits" together on May 3rd, 2007. You both are great people and I wish you success on the band!

Now again about those spirits. They were in a black bag right? hmmm where is that box I brought across the border?

Well a "toast" to your continued success! Oh I mean....Beata I hope you will get your next fill soon!

    Have a fun weekend! Kevin

    aka CalKev

aka You buy it, can't fly it, we'll ship it.

    hi Kevin

sorry for the late reply but this is a first time I am on the board since before the fill. How are you doing with you new fill?

I just want to thank you again for carrying that big black bag for me across the border :):)

I am so glad I met you in TJ. You are a wonderful person and so is your wife. Thank you again and please keep in touch

  3. I very curious to know what you were eating previously if you started eating protein and solid food to gain strength. Doesn't sound like you were following the diet recommended by Dr. Miranda. There are some terrific protein shakes out there if you feel the need to supplement. The one I bought at Costco comes in powder form and has 27 grams of protein per scoop. Makes it easy to supplement if you find you aren't getting the recommended 50-60 grams per day.

I hope you find a solution that works for you and isn't too expensive. I think talking to Dr. Ortiz before you do anything would be a very wise suggestion.

    Good Luck :)

I am just curious how much is it to fix a slipped band????

  4. I have just rescheduled my first fill for Thurs, May 3rd. If anyone would like to join me? Arrive in San Diego 8:25 AM and Depart at 3:40. Would be up to share an OCC van ride or the trolly/taxi route.

  5. we are open and scheduling fills for May 5th although I suspect the traffic might be a little heavy at the border that day. Just call the clinic 1-866-376-7849 ext. 83 to schedule.

    hi Lori

I have a question regarding my fill. Today is 5 weeks post my surgery. I do feel restrictions with eating. I can probably eat half of what I ate prior to my surgery. Should I wait scheduling my first fill?? I have not lost any weight for about 2 weeks so I am not sure what to do.

  6. I will have to check my schedule that might work for me- I have been contimplating geting a local fill here in AZ or getting back over to Ortiz's office - will check back later

  10. beata was u getting alot of stomach pain and bruising after surgury? because i just had my surgury 3days ago and im in so much pain everyone keeps telling me its because of trapped wind but im in so much agony ev1 i talk to says they didnt have no pain after surgury

I had terrible gas in my stomach and my intestines. but it has gotten better. and the pain in my shoulder was the worst. today is my 8th day post op and I am ok. I also had major direahaa. not sure if that's normal <_<

  11. It can take up to three fills to get a decent restriction and, as some on this board can tell you, sometimes you go too far and then have to take it out again! It's kind of a guessing game to find the body's best fill level.

Don't expect restriction before your first fill and also expect to LOSE restriction between your first and second fills. The band usually has some air left in it that comes out as you fill it with saline. This is normal and expected.

A lot of people have success on the 2nd fill and use the third to fine tune things, but as my (eventually to be) surgeon said to us - it's about a 1/3 ratio. 1/3 need 1 fill, 1/3 need 2 fills and 1/3 need 3 or more fills to hit that sweet spot.

Just don't get discouraged that you haven't seen it yet! Right now your body is all about healing from surgery and making sure you get plenty of protein so that you can heal that much faster.

I'm hoping to get banded in August and I don't really expect to see any serious weight loss until after the new year. That way I won't get all stressed at myself if it takes a while.

why is the weight loss so slow????I am 1 week post op and my scale barely moves but I don't even eat anything. Why is this an issue. I don't get it.

After going through all this the scale will not move????????????????
