  1. Angela,

I am so happy to see a woman of color with the band! I have not ran into any woman of my ethnic backgroung that I can talk to. Here is my email; lawdiva2006@yahoo.com. Please contact me! I just got banded 2/21/08 and have alot of questions, I know you and give input on! Girl, you did! =D> I'm excited for your new look.....how wonderful!

    God Bless you ><'

    Monet

I will email you tommorow.Thankyou so much

  2. Wow...you look phenomenal!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm getting banded 3/4 and have about the same amount of weight to lose, this post was just what I needed to see!!!!

I'm south of Philly in Chester County. I guess you use the Mt Laurel Fill Center. Can you give me some detail on how things work at the center...pricing, ease of scheduling, fluoro or not, docs..anything you can think of. I'm most nervous about follow up care since we are so far away from Ortiz.

    Thanks!

Thanks again. God4you I will email you. As far as fills go I couldn't afford to go back to Mexico. The Mt Laurel Center was quick and very good with me. My fills keep me from stuffing my face and as soon as I'm able to eat alot and I start gaining I make an appt for a fill. My exercise was not planned at first I would just walk around the block after dinner because I got the band in the spring. After I started to loose I got more energy and tried to find a new hobby that required movement. I started playing tennis at a recreation center in the summer. When it got cold I started doing workout dvd's. In December I joined the gym and I walk on the treadmill about 4 times a week. I really try to stick with protein first. I am so happy I got the band. Alot of people had negative things to say when I first got it now they have a change of heart when they see how happy I am with everything.

  3. I think the show was great.Cassie did a great job anytime someone took a jab at the band. I was nervous for her, but she held up better than I would have. Hurrah bandsters!!!!!!!!!!

btw it really brought back memories when they were showing the border. I am so glad i did it.

Strong is not fighting and constantly being defeated.

Strong is finding a better way to win =D>

  4. My insurance company pays for the lapband, but there were so many hurdles to overcome that it was not possible to actually get them all completed. So I made the decision to go to OCC.

I asked them for a receipt I could submit to my insurance company and they had it ready for me as I was leaving the day after my surgery. I faxed it to my insurance company along with a claim form and expected it to be denies, but it was wortha shot.

I did not hear anything from them and I tracked my claim online and it was not there. 20 days later, I faxed it in again. In about 5 days, I could see it was entered and showing up online. It was showing that they needed more information about the claim.

I went to the OCC to get my first fill and and asked them for a copy of my medical records for the insurance comapny. They had it waiting for me when I got there. I was all ready to fax them in and when I got home, there was a check in the mail.

I was so excited. Granted, they got me on my deductible and out of network charges, but I still ended up with half of what I paid for the surgery. Thank you Cigna.

Thought I would share with you all.

    Good luck!

  5. I hope she has a good open mind on this. After all, the struggle with her out weight has been huge for her. Maybe she'll consider it, herself.

Anyhoo, I've scheduled my band for Feb 15th - and I suspect they might get really busy from the Oprah press. I think most people discount Mexico for things such as this - I did until I did the research - but I think that some might start to discover that this is a great place to have it done. I'm happy I get a date scheduled before the show airs! I think they'll get super busy once it's on Oprah.

    Good Thoughts!

    Peace,

    Maggie

Did anyone hear how the oprah taping went?

  6. you look beautiful!! congratulations--- i bet you have tons of energy now and feel wonderful!

  8. Life is about choices and sometimes these choices shoudln't be influenced by anyone good or bad.Let this be your decision. However if you want to hear other low banders experience here it goes: I am 36 with two children.I bounced back with diet and exercise after my first child but after my second nothing worked. I tried everything you mentioned plus some.

I had a bmi of 36 before surgery standing at 5'2 200lbs.Surgery was done 4/9/07 and now I am 150 with a bmi of 128.I feel great. Someone actually said I dont remember what you looked like before. At first people would comment on how much I lost but after a certain point you blend in with everyone else and your weight loss is not a big issue anymore. I love it. I shop in non plus size stores, and no matter what people say there is prejudice against overwieght people.I really know now because how diffrently I am treated.God bless you no matter what you decide.

  9. Hey everyone,

I am a 25 year old male from New York. I weigh, as of today, 228 pounds and have a BMI of 33. Two months ago I went for several lap-band consultations, at which time my BMI was a 36 (weight was 246 I believe). I since gave Optifast a 5th try, and went down to 220, and then up to the weight I am at now. During all this I went through the hoops to get Lap-band approved. I wasn

  11. First of all GOD bless Kristi for posting.Because of her I am being reinburst 5,250 towards the 8,500 procedure.I did exactly what she did and won. The reason it wasn't the total is because I was out of network. You guys are probably thinking you should have gotten it done in the states but with a bmi of 36 with no life threatning diseases they would not pay.So I decided to invest in myself and pay out of pocket.I considered it done until I read that great post.I jumped on the opportunity right away and about 4 weeks later the check is in the mail. Again thanks Kristi and thanks OCC for responding so fast and faxing the paper needed. ><'

  12. My latest update. BlueCross Blueshield personal choice have my claim.I check it daily through there website. It went from pended to in-progress. Everyone I spoke to there sounded pretty positive except one lady. She seemed like the money would be coming out of her pocket.HoweverI will not focus on that. Seems like it's progressing so I am sure it's good news. Pleasecontinue topray for meI think it's working.
