  1. Hi,

I am scheduled for surgery next week. If any of you could give me your biggest piece of post op advice I would greatly appreciate it. I am scheduled with Dr. Ortiz. I hope you all have heard good things? thanks, t

Just follow the directions given to you by Dr. Ortiz and staff and you'll be fine! I did and didn't even have all the gas that people talk about. A little soreness for a few days, but was sleeping on my tummy the second night after surgery .... Good luck!

  2. Hello All,

I was banded 9 days ago on March 1st and just found this forum and joined today.

I don't seem to be having any problems other than persistant low-grade pain at the larger incision/port site.

My doctor has me on full liquids (yogurt, jello, pudding, cream soup and not much else besides water) for 4 weeks before I can start having puree. I did experience some pain early on after eating (well, drinking) but that is mostly gone now.

I was 427 lbs just before the surgery, with a BMI of 63. I dont have a scale to accurately weigh myself so I'm looking forward to my appt on the 15th when I have my staples removed and can be weighed again.

My biggest issue right now is that I walk around my house in a state of disbelief mumbling things like "what have I done?" and "I want my life back," but I think once I see the numbers on a scale go down it will all be a bit easier to swallow (pun intended :P )

Well, thanks for listening and if anyone can suggest anything I can eat besides the aforementioned products please let me know. I'm not sure I can stand another 3 weeks eating the same 4 things!!!

I had popsickles and slim fasts at the point you are at and that helped a LOT

  3. Hi

I'm from Austin TX and scheduled my surgery with Dr Oritz for May 11th. The more I read and the more I find out information, I dont know if I'm making the right choice. I was super excited but now I'm so nervous!!

I cant tell from what I'm reading but can I not ever have coke again, or take pills... I'm really nervous now, and not sure... I have booked my flight, and paid my deposit.

What if I cant handle this change? I've been successful with Weight Watchers but I need some additional help. I 've lost 30 lbs but i've been doing WW for almost 3 years.

    Anywords of advice...

I had my surgery March 21. So just a month ago. I too had great success with WW, but always gained whatever I lost back plus 10-15 more every time.

My opinion? If you've had success with WW. You're going to LOVE this! As you know, it's ALL about portion control. This just helps you with that! This is a "tool" to help you. So I don't honestly think you'll see the change that you are afraid you can't handle.

I was excited and then scared too, but now? I'm THRILLED that I've done this. I have told several people that I can't think of even ONE negative thing to say. Dr. Ortiz and staff were wonderful, the facility is beatiful, the hotel? Not what I'd call 5 star, but still very nice and exceptionally clean. If I knew then what I knew now, the only thing I'd do differant is to have done it sooner so I'd have more than 18 pounds off by now!
