Scott
For those of you that have been banded around a year or more, how does your scar look? Do people ask about it when you wear a bathing suit? Thanks.
yoyodieter
Hi scott, I'm assuming you are a guy, My son was banded in January and his scars are covered by hair. but they are not very visible. Mine are not covered by hair (thank god) LOL, and I was banded in May, I wore a 2 piece all summer and only one time did someone ask me how I got scratched, I told them a friends cat.. Only the large scar above the port is visible. There are some pictures of scars on here, just don't know the links off hand. Maybe if you just search scars, it will pop up for you. Hope this helps. julieburns
The largest scar where they put the band in and the port area is about 2 inches below the left breast area. It's barely an inch long if that.
MrsParris
I was banded on Nov. 19th, already I can tell that the 4 small incisions won't be noticeable at all. The larger one will scar, but like the previous post stated it will probably look like a scratch. My tummy is covered with stretch marks and I have a huge C-section scar, so , I am not concerned with these scars in the least. If you are worried about them, as soon as the incisions heal you can start putting Mederma on them to help them fade and smooth out. karenlynn79
I'm unlucky, when I get scars they usually stay forever and are raised. My band scars are very obvious.... even after 2 years. Stinks! But I don't think this is typical.
nothereanymore
I was banded over 2 years ago as well, and I’m the same, but only the larger one above my port pretty visible. But one good thing to note, as I’ve shrunk so has the scar. It’s much smaller and I’m starting cortisone treatments on it, hopefully that will make it so it’s not so raised. If I want to hide my scars I use a scar cover called color traition. It just improves the appearance if you want it with a bathing suit, they even have a spray so its semi water proof. I rarely use it, but there was an occasion when I didn’t want to deal with any questions and it hid my scars pretty well, lessons the appearance of stretch marks too. mona-camille
I've been banded since march and if I wasn't such a pale skinned person, you probably wouldn't see them at all. But they are veyr light pink now but they do show up because my belly has never seen the light of day and is very very pale.
