  1. Had surgery in March and have since only lost 7 pounds. As of my 2nd fill, I have 2.4 cc's in my band. Yes I have more restriction than after my first fill but I'm confused about something. I can eat a chicken sandwich and as long as I chew it well i can eat the whole thing. Although french fries are completely off limit! I know I shouldn't be eating the whole thing but shouldn't I feel good restriction, at say, half way through the sandwich?? I guess I'm just confused about how much I should actually be able to eat per meal. What am I doing wrong?? Time for a third fill? thanks all
  2. Dr. Romero at OCC did my fill. My first fill was 1.8cc's....second fill brought me up to 2.4 cc's. I was so excited the fist couple days after my second fill because I was actaully starting to feel restriction but now I can eat pretty much anything.
  3. Hello All, Just got my second fill 4 days ago and had great restriction the first couple of days but now find that I'm back to being able to eat just about anything. Should I be concerned that it might be leaking? Maybe I just need a third fill? Any suggestions/ideas are appreciated
  4. First fill did nothing for me. I was able to eat any and everything. Went back for a 2nd fill on Saturday and now have restriction. Yay!! I waited 3 weeks before getting my second fill to see if the first would kick in but it didn't.
  5. Diva, Just wanted to say I love the fact that you use the word "nutso"...One of my favorite Good luck with everything!!
  6. I have definitely noticed a change in me emotionally since the surgery. For the first couple weeks after I was sad and angry that I couldn't eat like I used to. Sure I'd lost a few pounds but I missed food! Then when I was able to start eating solids a couple weeks later I found I was sad ad angry again because I started to gain all of the weight back I had lost post op. I had read and researched quite a bit before the surgery so I know that a lot of what I was/am feeling is "normal" but it's so different when you're actually experiencing it. Now it is 2 months post op, just got my first fill 4 days ago and not yet feeling restriction. I was advised to give it a few more days before I consider going in for my second fill. I know this is a process and will take some time so I'm just trying to stay positive and be patient. With all that said, I don't regret getting the band. I know that once I start lose the weight a lot of these emotional "issues" will be resolved
  7. Thank you!! I will give it til the end of the week before I schedule my 2nd fill. Maybe mine will kick in soon too
  8. Just got my first fill a few days ago..not feeling any restriction. How long should I wait before I get my 2nd fill? thanks!!
  9. I can't tell you how much your replies mean to me. I truly appreciate all of the GREAT advice. Thank you thank you thank you!!!
  10. I've been debating whether or not to post this but finally, my overwhelming need for support convinced me to do it. I am about 7 weeks post op and due for my first fill. I had lost 17 pounds during the first three weeks of the post op diet but quickly gained it all back. I understand that this is common and that the band is not a quick fix so I've tried not to beat myself up about it too much. Unfortunately, due to some financial "issues" I will have to wait a few weeks to get my fill...maybe longer. I'm trying to stay positive but am not really doing a good job of it. To top it all off, work has been incredibly stressful and has only added to my sadness. I guess you can say I'm down right depressed Going to see my doctor this week but am hoping to get some of that wonderful support and encouragement you all so well known for
  11. I am three weeks post op and have developed a rash on my chest in the past 4-5 days and I can't figure out what it could be from. Haven't change shampoo, detergent or anything else. I read somewhere that others have had this reaction to the betadine used at the time of surgery but it developed shortly after, like 2-3 days post op. Other than it itching, I feel good..don't feel sick or have any pain elsewhere. I will be contacting my doctor just thought maybe someone else has experienced something similar.
  12. I am three weeks post op and have also started doing the lots of chewing which I've noticed definitely helps me stop eating sooner...my jaw gets tired!
  13. Was banded on the 4th. Boy is this an adjustment! My experience at OCC was awesome everyone was great. But I definitely miss food...REALLY miss food. The worse part for me right now is the shoulder pain which I've read will go away soon so I'm happy about that Looking forward to seeing the pounds come off!!
  14. I'm feeling some tightness especially when lying down to go to sleep. But this morning after I woke up and started walking around I still feel it. I'm sure I'm just being paranoid because this is all new but I'd appreciate some input. I can get liquids down with no problem.
  15. Although I've only been banded one day already thinking about the fills. Soooo, how bad does it hurt? The needle part especially?
  16. Was banded yesterday and from what I've read the pain I'm feeling is gas. What can I do help alleviate it? Walking sort of helps...any other suggestions?
  17. Thank you so much for posting Sofi!! With less than 4 days til my surgery I'm starting to get a little scared and nervous...and to be honest a bit angry. I couldn't figure out why I've been so angry lately but I think it has almost entirely to do with the fact the I'm already missing my "relationship" with food. Trying to get others that don't deal with this type of addiction to understand has proven to be quite a challenge...so I've stopped trying. I'm doing what I need to to take care of myself and my health and in the end that's all that matters. I was a skinny kid and gained most of my weight after high school and the bulk of it about 4 years ago. I'm 5'7", 27 years old and 245 pounds. I can actually remember saying to myself about 3 years ago that I would NEVER allow myself to get heavier than 200 pounds...needless to say that little pep talk didn't work out so well for me. So here I am, 4 days away from the surgery that I know will change my life. Thank you again for sharing and good luck with your surgery and new life!
  18. Yeah I can't wait!! I went window shopping for all of the clothes I'll finally be able to fit into
  19. I don't think you're nuts. I see it as an investment but one that I have faith will have a huge pay off!! And I agree, you only live once and at 28 I refuse to live the rest of my life unhappy and unhealthy. After reading several posts I understand that this isn't an "easy fix". There's a lot of work to be done but with the band the uncontrollable eating won't be the thing stopping us from losing the weight!! I'm also from Calfornia and scheduled to have my surgery March 4th. Good Luck and Best Wishes
  20. Hi Ruth! I'm driving down from the L.A. area on the 4th and will probably be leaving on the day you arrive...I am also going with my cousin A very supportive cousin, I might add. Thank you so much for your encouraging words. I know my family loves me and want what's best for me but like you mentioned, they don't live or walk in my shoes so at this point I don't expect them to fully understand or accept my decision. I hope we get to say hello in person but just in case I miss you, good luck with everything!!!
  21. Is all exercise safe? What I mean is am I at a higher risk of slippage with certain exercises like stomach crunches or certain types of vigorous exercise? Getting banded March 4th and soooooo looking forward to it!! Tired of being described as "the girl with the pretty face" Although I take that as a compliment I can never shake the implication.
  22. Getting banded March 4th!! YAY!! Excited...nervous...a little worried. The thing I've found the most difficult is trying to explain to people why I'm doing it. They're so quick to respond with "Well why don't you just try to stop eating so much"... Drives me nuts!! Anyway, I'm looking forward to starting my new and improved life
  23. Clynn, thank you sooooo much for your detailed response and congratulations on your success!!
