  1. Ok so I am in need of reassurance! I was banded in Feb 2008, I failed my band, yes I take responsibilty. I am scheduled for a band to sleeve revision on Feb 13th with Dr Ortiz. I'm getting nervous... I'm coming alone this time... My step mom came with me to have my band done, I traveled back 2 years ago alone to have Dr Ortiz check my band out, so I'm not scared of coming alone, just the hotel room bordeum and of course that "one time" something goes wrong. I also work in the medical field and have a lot of friends that are worried about me having the band removal and sleeve surgery the same day and then living in Georgia so far from Tijuana. I know Dr Ortiz is the BOMB (and very handsome also ) but I need some reassurance from some people that have had it done just to calm this unexpected anxiety feeling. Thanks for any words of wisdom!!
  2. Hey Michelle; Thanks for the kind words- I see you are doing extremely well also. I'm so proud of you!!!! I know I do need to update my picture... I'm so lazy... I'm going to get around to that this week!!! It's my mission. Sometimes when I log on and see my numbers in the 160's I have to take a double take and think "wow is that right"? It's amazing- I can't even believe it!!! But again thanks for all of your helpful posts- you are full of useful information girl!!!
  3. Hi Elaine; Girl no worries... Find a happy place to think about it and talk, talk, talk. I don't care for needles myself either, I work with them everyday but don't care to have them used on me. I've had 3 fills and each time I talked the ladies head off before she stuck me and thought about laying on the beach at 140 one day!!! Worked everytime!!! Good luck!
  4. OMG Thanks Michelle- this is just what I needed... having a rather fat feeling day....
  5. I tanned about 3-4 weeks after surgery. My scars are a little darker that I am, but it doesn't bother me at all. If one day I look good enough to be in a bikini on the beach who cares about a few small scars.
  6. Good question. I had my 3rd fill on 6/21/08 and I have a 4cc band and I now have 4cc's in my band. The barium still flowed through a little faster than Darlene @ Fill Center Roswell wanted it to, but she said to go with that for now and you can always come in later to see if 4cc's are still in there. Sometimes a little disappears. So who knows.... I feel really good at this level and I have about 40 more pounds to go. Good luck and hopefully you won't have to get to the point where your band is full.
  7. Hi mom12; I have my fills done at "Fill Center USA". I have always been told- no food 8 hours prior and no water 4 hours prior. But I think some places do it differently, I was even given strict after fill guidelines- like back to liquids for 3 days after and I've seen some people who eat a meal right after a fill- so who knows I guess it depends on the provider doing the fill. Good luck with yours.
  8. I eat Zone Perfect bars- they are meal replacement bars so I generally eat them a few hours after morning coffee. I think they are 220 cal and 14 protein. I get the chocolate caramel and it's like having a snickers. I've found them just about everywhere, Walmart, Publix and Kroger. They also have snack size that are 80 cals- not sure of the protein amount though.
  9. Ok well never mind - Judy from Fill Centers just called me back and told me to come in on Saturday instead so I guess I will miss y'all all the way around
  10. Hi everyone! I have my fill scheduled for 6/22 also. You guys will probably be gone by the time I get there. I'm the last of the day, 12:40. You guys have a good time!!! And be GOOD
  11. Hi everyone! It's been a while since I have posted. I have been sooooo busy lately. I have dropped in from time to time to check on everyone and see how you are all doing. Looks like everyone is doing great! I have been doing very well myself- after my second fill I was a little disappointed because I lost restriction fast, but what I have learned is that it varies day to day sometimes even from meal to meal. I have to keep remembering - it's a TOOL- not a magic wand!!! I have found out that I absolutely love the gym- go figure I was to afraid to go for the longest time, now you can't get me out of the place.. I have began doing step classes, spinning classes and Body Pump classes. I even hit a milestone last month and began jogging on the treadmill. I would have never dreamed of jogging in the past- to much access flab flying around. I still have my "I feel like a whale" days, but I go into my closet and try on my "fattest" clothes and then my "skinny" clothes and compare the difference. Works like a charm!!! Anyway good luck to all of the post banders and the pre banders. Hang in there as they say "Rome wasn't built in a day" too bad though.
  12. I have been doing the 10,000 steps a day thing for about 2 1/2 months- it was very hard at first (I have a sit down job ). I would have to do 1 hour on the treadmill at 4-5 miles per hour and at 5 I was definitely jogging, but I have found a way to beat it. I joined a step class at the gym, which I follow up with a body pump class and I get in 8,000 steps alone just in the step class, not to mention I burn 560 - 600 hundred calories also (I purchased a bodybugg so that I would know exactly how many steps and calories I was burning). One night I had not hit my 10,000 mark (I skipped the gym) so you should have seen me walking around my living room and bedroom at 10 pm.... Stick with it you'll get it! Good Luck
  13. Hey Girly: It's at 2pm tomorrow! we may just miss each other.
  14. Hi you guys!!! My name is Cindy and I am 32 years old. I live in a little town in GA called Oxford, it's about 30 miles east of Atlanta. I have a wonderful husband named Darrell and 2 beautiful children, Savannah 9 and Luke 3. I am a fluoro c-arm tech and work for an anesthesiologist/ pain management physician, which I have been with for a looooong 5 years. haha!! Things I like to do: love being a mom!!, traveling (2 cruises a year), going to concerts with my "person" (my best friend Stacey), and believe it or not I love working out now (5 days a week). I would say that I have been "chunky" since about 17, I guess I never noticed it though, because nothing changed, I had lots of friends and lots of dates so I thought I was normal. UNTIL I gained more weight and when I was about 27 some one asked the most awful question ever "AWWWW When are you due?" Holy cow reality set in!!!! I was fat!!! I tried numerous diets- the diets didn't fail, I did. I couldn't do it- I was always hungry. So I researched Lap Band for a good 3 years (had another baby in that time), but when I decided it was for me, I was shot down again when I found out my insurance didn't cover it- and I wasn't "heavy" enough....WHATEVER!!! So then I researched doc's in Atlanta and found one that would do it, uh yeah at $24,000. Ok next- then God answered my prayers and I found Dr. Ortiz and how ironic the day I got my tax return!!! So off to TJ 9 days later!!! And here I am now 25lbs lighter and loving it this far, my daughter hugged me this morning and said "mommy I can fit my arms easily around you now." It's a GOOD day!
  15. Hi Everyone; Sorry it's been a while since I have been on..... you know kids, work and husband!!! Hi Monet- good to see you around again! 1. Weight loss = 24lbs 2. How many fills = 1 as of today- next one schedule for this Saturday 5/3/08 3. Tips for success = work out like crazy- I am in the gym 5 days a week - 45-60 mins of cardio and 30-45 mins of weights. Stick to guidelines- protein first!!! Drink water- I drink about 120 oz a day. Good luck to all!!
  16. OK everyone get ready to FREAK OUT and call me CRAZY!!!! I weight ummmmm about 5 times a day!!!!! Who knows why, I don't.... Every time I go into the bathroom, my feet find their way to the scale and not only 1 scale but 2 scales- 1 digital and 1 dial. BUT I do have a system, I get on the digital with my left foot first, get off then get on again with my right foot. Then I get on the dial scale the same way left first then right. I had my husband hide the scales a few weeks ago, BUT wouldn't he know not to hide them in the closet under his clothes- HELLO I fold and put up the laundry!!!! SO they came back out for a while, then I thought let's try this again, so he hid them in my daughter's room UNDER the bed.... HELLO I clean under the bed!!! So now I don't hide them anymore they are back home in the bathroom. I know I am mental, but one thing about it is if I continue to see results at the scale (and I know that you weigh more in the afternoons and evenings then the mornings) then I continue to work harder at the gym and make better choices, but those few days that I didn't weigh myself I couldn't stay accountable and I gained 2 lbs. So hey what ever works!!!! I just hope no one else is as mental as I. Sorry so lengthy!!!
  17. > Awwww thanks Kimmie!! You will be there before you know it. I hope I never see the terrible 2's again!!! lol
  18. I usually by now would be at 64-70oz and I am at about 40oz, but I'm scared to drink normally because I don't know if it would do harm.... so literally I am sipping, and sipping, and sipping, and sipping. Did I mention sipping.... tired of sipping. lol
  19. Nope girl you're not alone. Sure thing!
  20. Before being filled last Saturday I was drinking 126oz of water daily- just normal full mouth drinks. I wish I had of asked Darlene at the fill center, but I didn't think about it then. Does anyone know if too big of a drink OR to many drinks of water back to back can stretch the pouch? :-? Thanks for any input!
  21. Hey Kimmie I had trouble ALL day trying to get mine updated!!! I finally after several attempts got it to work.
  22. Thanks for the support MamaMichelle! Look at you girl 1lb away from 40lb weight loss!!!! Keep up the AWESOME work!!
  23. Hi Jacklyn; The fill did not hurt at all. First I laid on a fluoro table and she pushed around to fell my port and pulled the picture up on the monitor. I don't even remember what the needle looked like because I was too busy running my mouth, but I just felt a prick then a little pressure when it went into the port. The weird feeling came when the bed raised me to a sitting position with the syringe hanging out of my belly, but she said no to worry it wouldn't come out. Then a couple more pictures, 2 sips of barium and it was done!!! From the way it felt it didn't feel like the needle was big- so no worries!
