  1. Actually no I'm not nervous about the surgery anymore. I am more nervous about the flight than anything else. After being on this forum for a while and reading everyone's story I hear/read more positive than negative. Also, I know its going to take some hard work from myself.... it's just not the band...like everyone has mentioned it is a tool... I think we will be okay... I have faith in that this is definately the right decision for me.
  2. > > > I'm so happy for u... u can definately see a difference... your going to make it into that dress... i know it.. your are definately an inspiration... keep us all posted...
  3. Thanks so much guys for providing pictures...it definately is comforting... although I will never be in a bikini either ......its nice to dream... lol... so just in case I wanted to know how bad or good the scars would be... Mama Michele did u use anything? like neosporin...or mederma... they say that works well...???
  4. I was just wondering I know I read that they dont use stitches so when the incision heals does it leave a scar? I'm just curious, I already have a huge scar on my stomach and hate to have 5 more. can anyone please share... thanks
  5. Brook, who are you going with?? I'm going with my mom... I'm a little nervous taking her with me because of her age and but she is my main supporter... my rock... other than her my only option would be to go by myself...which sometimes I wonder if that would be better.. I've read that some of the guests had to stay behind when there wasnt any room in the van...and I would hate to leave her behind... For anyone else scheduled on 4/11/08 and reading this... who is accompanying you? or going alon??
  6. looks like so far there are 5 of us, The Nicholsens 2 Scared.... that me Tatts 4mygirls...... Cant wait to meet everyone....
  7. Oh my goodness... what an experience? You should email Carolyn and/or Lori so they can make OCC aware of the problems you incurred. Maybe they can compensate you with something being that transportation is suppose to be provided. I'm scheduled for 4/11/08... and all I have to say is FRANCISCO BETTER BE THERE!!!!!!! I do speak the language so hopefully things will run more smoothly..... hopefully
  8. ninababy, yes i can understand your scared.. so am/was I. I was in your shoes..i knew i needed to lose weight but never wanted to do anytype of surgery, none the less have something put in me.I've dieted in the past..only to regain the weight and I feel like I cant do it again. right now I'm at 210... my highest was 225. I had to make a decision before I'm back there again. On top of that making the investment...was also a big decision for me. After finding this forum and the OCC website I realized this is something i need to do and am confident in my decision. I know it's not going to be easy but I'm not getting any younger, thinner or healthier sitting back contemplating a new diet strategy. So I finally scheduled my date (4/11/08) and look forward to a new life. Am I scared?..Very... especially since I cant tolerate pain or discomfort at all .... I'm a big old baby ( ( ( However, after reading everyone's story I know I'll survive. I'm so happy to have found this forum, it's like a big family to me and although i have never met anyone yet, i feel as if i know them. I would suggest u continue your research and continue to read updates on this forum, so that u can find comfort in whatever decision you make. good luck m
  9. Hi Cindy, I was just wondering when u say u can eat anything now ... does that mean your not having to chew 30+ times? I've been practicing and it seems like an awful lot of chewing.... unless its just me?? marilyn
  10. I can relate....although my surgery is not until 4/11/08.. i figured I would start early since they told me I should lose 10pds before surgery and I thought there is no way Im dropping 10pd in 12days???!!!!.. But i lost 2 pds....and put the diet in the back burner...it is so hard... oxxoe said it best... that's exactly why we are having this surgery... i would not suggest anyone crash though... just because what if u dont lose anything
  11. Sorry to hear your not feeling to good yet...but like you said on the brighter side 4 days down and you really don't have an appetite ...so only a few more days until you are on thicker liquids. Have u tried some of the things suggested on this forum for the gas and bloat?? Hope u feel better soon
  12. how are you doing on the post op diet? how are you feeling altogether?
  13. I dont understand either "i pinched the skin of the ready to eat chicken"? do you mean u ate it? r we not suppose to eat the chicken with the skin? Please explain.
  14. Because I have been diagnosed with severe gastritis and Gerd I was wondering how that may affect the band or me being able to keep down food. I currently take only Nexium now... only because I haven't followed up with my Dr. I would like to hear anyone experience with this....Do u think it will get better? or harder for me to adjust???
  15. The countdown begins..... 25more days.... OMG... I cant express how much I am so ready to get this over and done with.... I was so scared (remember)...but now I'm just ready to go and come back and begin my journey.... To all of you who are going 4/11/08, I must tell you that I am the biggest punk and cry baby... I'm that person that stays home all week if I catch a cold.... I went 3 times to the emergency room because I thought I was having a heart attack ... it was heartburn... Yep thats me... I hate pain and cant tolerate discomfort... but YES............. I CAN'T WAIT TO GET BANDED ........mostly because i know that although I am going to have a hard time dealing with this new adjustment .. It is all going to pay off in the long run... SO HERE WE GO...............12 MORE DAYS UNTIL THE REAL PRE-OP DIET BEGINS... Cant wait to meet everyone that is going... Marilyn
  16. I thought its one week of clear liquids ... 2nd week of soups and creamy liquids and on the 3rd week your on solids??? or is everyone different?
  17. > > Cant wait to meet u all. I will be arriving at noon, coming from NJ. As far as any tips.. I decided to try the advantage eas because I heard about in this forum but slimfast definately taste better to me. I think the eas advantage would be better for post op because it has much more protein and thinner consistency than slimfast. I also am taking the wieght management which is suppose to curb your appetite.. I think is just makes me run to the bathroom more often. so far I'm down 2pds... oh yeah I think i started this in the wrong subforum ...because i thought there would be more people joining us on 4/11. talk to you soon M
  18. OMG... I cant believe I am actually going to do this.Everytime I start chickening out I remind myself of how I have been struggling with my wieght for atleast 20yrs. (35yrs old). and how I wish I would have done this sooner. I have started dieting by drinking 1 slimfast in the morning and lean cuisine for lunch and reg dinner... this way when the real pre op diet starts it want be a shock to my system.. and i want jump off the band wagon and eat everything in sight... I don't know about any one else... but I can gain 4pds in a weekend easy if I'm not careful... I cant wait to hear from the 4/11 group and look forward to meeting everyone... this forum has been a blessing.. I may not write everyday but I'm definately on reading... M.
  19. I saw you your pictures on my space and I cant tell you how much they put me at ease... I believe I am making the right decision. Thank you so much I did have one question... Everyone has to walk across the border? with you luggage?. how long is it? is it dangerous? My mom is coming with me and she is 69yrs, so it is of great concern to me.. please get back to me soon. Scheduled for 4/11/08 Marilyn
  20. I was just wondering does anyone know is your deposit refundable? I forgot to ask Carolyn and am afraid of the answer.lol. Just asking because I keep going back and forth in my head... rescheduled my date for 4/11/08..
  21. I was wondering does it effect u differently? Does anyone know? I'm not a beer drinker but when I go out i can have 3 mixed drinks and just begin to feel nice. Once I'm on solids ofcourse will it be the same? Anyone try it? will I have to sip, sip, sip my drinks too?
