  1. i had surgery 3 weeks ago this tuesday... and my jaws hurt me so bad after chewing 30+ times a bite, but i learned to eat oatmeal or mashed potatoes so i didnt have to chew much.... i was 263 2 weeks before surgery and i was 250 1 1/2 weeks after surgery... so i havent lost much... and i was worried that my weight was stopping... but after hearing some of these others i realize that i should lose more after my first fill, which is 4/14/08... i still sometimes get in a hurry and eat too fast or dont chew enough times, and it does make me sick... also if i try to snack or eat a 4th meal like at midnight, i get extremely sick... so i am never going to do that again... i still eat a large plate of food... i am assuming this habbit will change after the fill...
  2. Congrats Cassie! You look awesome! Keep it up!
  3. Thanks to all of you for the information. I had called my nutritionist today and asked him about eating solids too early and he said that it could cause obstruction and told me that I really need to follow the guidelines.
  4. I had Dr. Mark Sherrod from Southwest Bariatrics. I was so afraid to eat, but I was going insane without eating real foods. And I was so sick of broth, jell-o, and tomato soup. I have my first fill on 4/14 and I saw some pics of the needles they use. Looks painful. Tonight I tried hamburger meat for the first time, and I had no problems with it.
  5. I have been eating solids since 5 days after my banding. I have no problems eating solids, but am I hurting myself? I don't eat as much as I used to.
  6. Hello Giggy. I was banded on March 4 and I was dumb by eating solids on March 9, only 5 days after surgery. I am still eating solids, and have no problems with them. Anyways, I had read in another post that you must not eat 4 hours prior to the fill, but I do not know about anything to drink. Also, you have to be on a liquid diet for 3 full days after the fill. My surgeon here in Texas has not told me anything about my first fill, so I am only getting this info from this forum.
  7. I live in Texas and I had mine done in Austin by Dr. Sherrod. he is a great doctor.
  8. Hey Hannah. My name is Mark and I am 20 years old. I had my banding done on March 4. I was fine with the diet until March 10 (5 days after surgery) and finally couldn't do it anymore. I was stupid by trying some chicken, but fortunately I was ok with it. I only threw up once but that was because I didn't chew my dinner properly. If you have plenty of self-discipline, then the diet should be good for you. And now the answer to your drinking question. My paperwork that I received from the nutritionists says, "NO alcohol during the weight loss period following surgery. This can be up to 1 1/2 years after surgery."
  9. i had surgery back on march 4... and by march 9 i was starving and going crazy.... there was nothing to keep my mind off food... and i started eating solid foods that i chewed about 50 times a piece... and i had no problems... i do NOT recommend doing what i did because it was stupid but i couldn't take the liquid diet anymore and i wanted food.... everything has been fine for me since, but i do occasionally not chew enough times and food gets stuck in my throat and i vomit...
