Well, its done. I got my first fill at OCC yesterday. DH and I parked at the border and walked across, then took taxi to OCC. Dr. So put 1.5 cc's in my band. I tried to talk him into more, but he said at 1.7 cc's my esophogas was stretching, and that my "perfect" fill was at 1.5. Dr. So did reiterate that there could be a week or more of settling, and to give it a chance to work. He said it's like putting a band around Jello-- you have to wait and see where everything is going to fall. I am hoping that this will do the trick. Oh, and my port pain is from exercise, I just need to slow down, and gradually increase my work outs.
Here is a cool shot of the needle in my port
and needle in me.....
.....and Dr. So and me.

May 24th - Walk 45 minutes
-
May 23rd - 45 minutes on elliptical. Port site hurting again.... tried to take it easy. No run tonight. I am scheduled for fill tomorrow, yeah!!!

My incision is also right on the "bra" line.... my remedy --braless......hehe

I will be leaving for OCC tomorrow for my first fill too. I am soooooo excited!!!!! Since I live in SoCal, my DH and I are only making it a day trip.
It has been such a struggle for me lately, acually, from the beginning. I haven't had any restriction since about day 5 post-op, I always feel I could eat a horse!! At times I think I did! I am so ready for my tool to kick in.
I wish us both perfect restriction on our first try (or at least by the second....lol)
The only thing that bums me out is that I must be on liquids after..... oh, well, I will just have to stick with Margaritas then.
Anyone else having a fill tomorrow?

May 22nd - 1 hour run/walk with DH and dogs....tough one tonight, no energy, had to really push.
Here is a picture of DH and dogs.......
-
May 22nd - 60 minutes elliptical (5.5 miles/800 calories burned)...
Think I am going to concentrate on cardio, instead of weight training for a while. It seems that I lose more weight like this and we all know that I am going to need all the help I can trying to get to 155 by July 4th. At least I finally dropped a pound today after being stuck for a month. :lb21:
You guys are making it very hard to keep up....can you guys slow it down a little and give a person a chance to catch up?....hehe :dash3:

WAY TO GO WILL!!!! You are doing so awesome!! :lb13: :cheerleader:
I want to be like you....

We can do this gals!!!!

Hi Jessica,
I started at 192, and was 187 pounds when banded on April 8th. Although I eat well and exercise almost everyday, weightloss has been minimal for me.
I knew going into this with a lower BMI I would lose weight at slower pace, so have tried to not let it discourage me. I try to keep my focus on the long term effects of the band.
I am scheduled for my first fill this Saturday and hope that will turn things around for me.

May 17th - Third and final session of the day.
1 hour run/walk with DH and dogs.... probably over did it today, will probably pay for it with my port site hurting again.
I felt kind of guilty for taking those couple of days off, so was trying to make up for it.
I think I am turning into an exercise junkie :lb12: (DH not helping the situation)

May 17th - Session two for today, on a mission!
DH took me for a 1 1/2 hour bike ride this evening (haven't been on a bike in years).
We actually just got back from the ride, but I think we are going to take the dogs for a run..... I will post if we do.

May 17th - Gym (30 minutes elliptical and 25 minutes circuit).
-
May 16th - 30 minutes elliptical and 15 minutes circuit training.
-
When are you planning on taking the trip? I live in Long Beach and would love a "fill" buddy.
I have a fill scheduled for the 24th, but there may be a problem with DH going with, so I was thinking of just going by myself sometime during the week, next week.

May 15th -
My port site is still bothering me, couldn't sleep last night...... called OCC this morning and spoke with Dr. Saul (spelling), he instructed me to stop exercising for at least two days, Tylenol every 6 hours, and liquids for 24 hours.
I guess no gym for me today--Doesn't he know I still have 12 more sessions to make my Platinum challenge?? (
I really don't think that it is the gym that is doing me in anyway (the elliptical is such a fluid movement), its the running, and that stupid hike on Saturday (DH got poision oak on both legs).
So today is an official day of rest......

May 13th - (Session 11 & 12)
1. My regular at the gym. 30 Minutes elliptical and 30 minutes circuit training.
2. Went for a 50 minute run this evening (DH and I are going to try a half marathon by October, or at least a 5K...hehe).
-
May 12th - Went to gym today......
-30 minutes on the elliptical (tried to keep close to 70 RPM)
-30 minutes circuit training (sure wish I could work on abs-- Did Dr. Miranda really say 3 months before ab exercise??? doesn't matter port hurts anyway...)
-
Today my port site is bothering me. I was banded on April 8th, and have not had any real problems with my port until now??
The general area feels sore/irritated, and the scar tissue surrounding it kind of aches. It is not tender to the touch, but hurts inside my abdomen.
The only time that it ever bothered me in the past is when I started back exercising in the beginning. I did do a 9 mile hike on Saturday, but the inclines weren't terrible. It was a little strenuous but if that was that, wouldn't it have started hurting yesterday?
Does anyone's port hurt from time to time?
Help, the hypochondriac in me is starting to take over!
-
I asked the same thing before being banded.....per Lori, OCC is not using the AP band. From the commercials I've seen, the AP band is only availiable in the US...
-
May 10th - Just got back from a 9 mile (4 1/2 Hour) hike in Chantry Flats with DH.
My DH is killing me!! He has turned into an absolute exercise Nazi!!!
I think he is more into this challenge than I am!!
-
May 9th - Elliptical 30 minutes and 15 minutes circuit training.
-
May 8th - 45 minutes on the elliptical and 30 minutes circuit training.
Did extra 15 on elliptical and used heavier weights on the circuit. Going to try to up my work-outs going forward.
Today was quite possibly my hardest workout ever!!
honestly how many lbs?

I was banded at 187 and had my first fill yesterday at 177, so is that 10 pounds. I lost all of the weight on the liquid post op diet. Once I got to solid foods, it was a struggle to keep it off. I hit a plateau for 5 weeks. So don't get discouraged if that happens.
