  1. Not sure I am posting in the right place, but I wanted to let you know what an inspiration and help you are to us all. Also, I can't wait to see progress pics of your goal dress. There was so much progress in your first pic.... it has to be almost time for the next one Thanks for being so active on here and full of great advice and support. >
  2. I arrive May 21 for a band date of May 22.
  3. Hey fellow banders, My band date is 05/22/08, but I found out yesterday that I have to have surgery for a large ovarian cyst next week. ( My GYN says I'll be good to go for my lap-band, but I'm still nervous. And not happy about having to miss so much work. He said he didn't like the look of it and that it wasn't going to go away without surgery. So...... On a happy note, I know cysts can make weight loss difficult, so maybe after the surgery, pounds will start falling off and make my pre-op diet more successful.
  4. I'm from North GA... Cartersville area. My band date is May 22. Thanks for the reassuring. But you know when your friends act freaked out because you're going to Mexico and ask crazy questions, you wanna have answers for them
  5. My question is this... (one of my "brainy" friends asked me...) If the water isn't safe to drink, how do the drs scrub in, wash laundry, etc?? Is there some sort of water purification system at OCC and Lucerna? :-?
  6. Hey ladies... I wrote to Caroline and wanted to give ya'll an update. This was her response... "We do not intubate any patient. It is IV sedation and no catheter either. The surgery with Dr. Ortiz takes @ 10-15 minutes, that's it. " Carolyn
  7. I read in an old post that they don't use the venitlator during surgery. But in a recent post, someone posted pics right before surgery and she is intubated. I think I'm going to email Lori or Caroline to find out, but do any of you know?
  8. Yes, I'm bringing my husband with me. He wants to come, but truth be told, I'd rather bring my Daddy because he's more nurturing. Shhhhh.... LOL
  9. I've read several posts that say Dr. Miranda has me on...... Did she contact you? How far in advance? I haven't heard from her yet. Should I contact her or should I just do the diet listed on the paperwork? The two shakes and lean cuisine and salad? Thanks! This board has been an AWESOME source of information and support already!
  10. My passport came today... =D> My pic is sooooo fat on it. ( I was worried about going under and the impact on my body and my heart twice in a month. Then I search and read that at the OCC you don't have to be intubated and that made me feel much better. I had a horrible experience during a gallbladder surgery 3 days after childbirth during extubation, which is when my heart went CRAZY, my lungs filled with fluid and I almost died and woke up in ICU on a ventilator...so I have LOTS of anxiety about that part. Now that I know that won't be happening, I'll almost certainly have the surgery even if they have to take this pesky cyst out. Now I can't hardly wait. Neither can my clothes. They are busting off me.
  11. I haven't booked my flight yet. I have a dr. appointment for a large ovarian cyst and I'm worried he's going to want to operate to remove it. It's a follow-up appt. Can I have surgery twice in a month? Is that safe? I applied for my passport a few weeks ago. Caroline said I wouldn't need it if we came in before June 1, but since it's so close and just in case... I'm 30 years old. It's about time I had a passport anyway. Who knows when I might win an exotic vacation?? Way to go momma....
  12. My date is May 22nd. I live in North Ga but I plan to use the Roswell center. Your idea about lunch or dinner (or maybe even shopping) sounds great!!! Maybe we could get filled together.
  13. LOL... Ya'll are cracking me up. We could all meet up for Plastic Surgery after we lose the weight. I wish I was being banded on the 23rd with ya'll. My appt. was originally for the 23rd, but I didn't think I was going to get financing so I cancelled. Two days later they called and told me I was approved. I hope I don't have to go it alone. I need other bandsters for support on Thursday. I just turned 30. My BMI is 33 I think. I'm 5'4" and I weight 210 right now. But my grandma and my daddy are both fully insulin dependent diabetics AND I had heart failure with my last pregnancy. I'm fully recovered now, but I'm so scared that my heart will get tired of all the extra weight. My friends all think I'm crazy. Esp. for going to Mexico. Except the one friend who told me about OCC. My high weight was 310 and last year I got as low as 180, but that was going to the gym 3 TIMES a day 5 days a week and cardio the other days. As soon as I cut back to once a day, I piled on 30 pounds... :-? Please do stop by and see me at the OCC.
  14. Edited for stupidity. I misunderstood. That's what I get for trying to post "intelligent" posts first thing in the morning while I'm still asleep.
  15. I know. That part panics me. I can't imagine stopping abs for 12 WEEKS!!! A lot of our training - Pilates, step-sculpt and turbo-kickboxing incorporates abs of some sort. I'm gonna be mush after 12 weeks.
  16. I was wondering something the other day. My trainer at work has us use the stability ball A LOT. We do alot of prone work with our tummies down. I was wondering if that kind of work was going to hurt where the port is. When you lay flat on your stomach on a semi-hard surface, does it hurt?
  17. I am scheduled to arrive May 21 and get banded May 22. I'm nervous, scared and excited all at the same time.
