  1. Wow! You look so awesome! I haven't been on the forum for almost 3 months now. Congratulations! It's inspirational. I need some right now.
  2. Let me start by thanking those of you who responded with some postive feedback. I really appreciate it. SOmetimes I feel like I can do this on my own and I show my family I'm strong and can take it, when in reality it's nice to know that there is someone out there that is experiencing something similar and we can share. I was expecting it to be a little bit easier, I really thought that the restriction was immediate. I didn't know about the forum before my operation but I am glad to have you all now. ALso I want to let you know that I have not given up. By no means did I think that I this was a quick fix, after gaining over the course of 10 years, about 85 pounds, I know that it will be hard and I will have to change the amounts and types of food I eat to reach a healthy weight. I know that this is a life time commitment. But again I really thought the restriction was a done deal. And now that you have posted your comments I'm more at ease to see that some of you have gone thru this and some are going thru this "phase". Iv'e actually gained back about 4 lbs total. I am going to schedule a fill for next week and I hope that I can hit that "sweet spot". Again thank you all and your stories really help. I feel better now. Thank you, thank you.... keep sharing your thoughts.....
  3. Hello to all! I'm fairly new and I don't post alot but I always try to look for answers in everyone's postings, but I need some feedback, I'm begining to have 2nd thoughts.... I am feeling a little unhappy with my results since the surgery. I already had a fill and Dr Soh only put in 1.2. He said everyone is different and the amount of fill will vary form person to person. I agree, but I have yet to feel any restriction. My whole intention of getting the lap band was to have a portion controler, I understand that it is a tool and that's what I wanted it for. I eat healthy, loves veggies, fruits, whole grains, yogurt, salads, chicken, etc. I drink lot's of water, I'm not a dessert person and I don't drink soda. I do however have a problem with serving sizes and I was convinced that this was the solution; a portion controler. I have talked to others in our group that had the surgery the same day and some are still losing, very little but losing. Others feel a little restriction. I can eat and eat and eat. I have to hold back, so I feel like I have paid all this money to be right where I was before the lap band. In the last 2 weeks I have been stuck and now have gained 2 lbs. I am back doing my pre-op diet; 2 slims fasts and a lean cuisine. Is this all there is? I can't have another fill until next week, which is not far away but I had one on May 17. Will it be worth it? Another drive to TJ and $100! Will it make a difference? Can someone share if they have experienced anything like this. :lb12: Help somebody!
  4. I had told some people in the past that I was thinking of doing it and most of the comments were not very positive, of course they come from all these people that have no weight issues. That was last year, so this year when I decided I was going to have it, I didn't tell anyone but my immediate family, my hubby, parents, brothers and kids. All were very supportive except one. My brother made me have doubts, not because of it being in Mexico, just because it was a surgery and in itslef can present certain risks. I was really stressing about it after he kept telling me not to have it done. I feel better now, and people ask me what I'm doing because I am losing weight and I tell them I am on a liquid diet to jump start my weight loss and then eating healthier and limiting my amounts. That's it!! DOn't feel bad if you don't tell.
  5. OMG! I am sittin' here laughlin my "a" off....... I was afraid to say anything, but I confess I feel like a horse; (if you've riden a horse you know what I'm talking about) walkin' n' fartin'. I'm glad I'm not alone. I will have to go buy some of that stuff as well. I'm glad we can share these things here. You guys are funny!
  6. I have the shoulder pain everyday, I have been taking a pain killer which seems to help, but as soon as the effect wears off the pain is back. I feel as though I need to adjust it, you know "crack" it, and I move it around and nothing! I know what you are going thru, I hope it gets better and from the comments it looks like it does. It's only been 6 days....patience.....it's a virtue I lack....most of the time. :lb12:
  7. I must confess, someone told me to suck on a cheeto and I did! It helped. So chip lickers and cheeto suckers....funny! What have we come to! We just might need a support group. LOL
  8. I know what you mean. I have always craved salt, and it didn't go away. I'm not for sweets or cakes and stuff, but don't show me a bag of chips because I can't just eat one, I have to eat the whole bag! I also have had the hunger pains, still do. Of course it's only been 6 days, but I'm really hungry and I wake up in the middle of the night because of the stomach growling. I drink lots of fluids, but It's not helping. I guess only time and patience...... :lb12:

  10. I was banded on April 17th. Everything went great. I feel fully recuped, but I have hunger pains. I am really hungry, I realize that I need to get my first fill, but I thought I would be able to handle the liquid diet easily. Did anyone else experience this? I had a hard time with the pre op diet, so in my mind I thought that after the surgery I wouldn't be hungry. Any suggestions? Does is get easier? By the way I've never been part of a forum so I don't know how to set up my profile. So sorry if I don't have my information posted yet. I will figure it out! Thanks
